A very loud swearing man was in apartment below which spoilt our stay. Rung agent twice and had to ring police

Location is excellent, good amenities, good value for money.
There was a lot of spiders in the bathroom which hadn't been cleaned away, so felt a bit dirty in there. There were also no oven gloves so had to use tea towels.

It had all the basic requirements for a short stay
It was a little dark but not enough to spoil our stay

The property was very close to the city centre with great access to the main attractions. There was also a fully stocked kitchen with great appliances and cooking facilities to help cook for the family. Parking on sight. A home feel for my family while being on holidays.

quiet, perfect location. about 15 minute walk into the centre of Durham. Staff were very helpful. Property was very clean and comfortable.
only 3 mugs, 3 forks, 3 towels and 3 dining chairs.

Location and off street parking
Facility Management was poor for a premium property. They Key code had changed and we wasn't notified, the apartment clearly showed signs of wear and tear and signs of walls requiring internal repair, make-up stains was evident on flooring, the Kitchen oven wasn't cleaned, and upon arrival we had to clean kitchen surfaces, glasses were left cracked; SKY TV wasn't working so personally spent time reconnecting HDMI (which needs replacing) and connected correctly to appease our children, and the previous occupant's appeared to have broken the French blind in the Bedroom, therefore we couldn't sleep first night after a 8 hour drive to Durham and as this wasn't rectified we sufferred another night of no sleep on the 2nd, because of bedroom position and bright street lights, although notified, maintenance turned up and upon inspection said they didn't have a ladder and didn't return. All of which was proactively advised to the owner and we didn't expect to clean and rectify property issues whilst on boarding my daughter to Durham University. Being a fellow property owner and having experience of overseeing property maintenance, at an absolute minimum I would have offered, some form of compensation, knowing that the client could be a repeat customer.

Great location; quiet area.
Clean and mostly comfortable.
Spacious and modern.
The lack of toilet roll, washing up liquid, kitchen roll, basic cleaning materials, etc.
Living room furniture in need of repair, spirting tap, decking in poor state of repair.
Single beds quite narrow for adults.
Wrong key safe number provided at first.
Unclear and confusing directions to the property's address.

Nice little getaway and a really nice apartment. Just a short walk to Durham City and perfect for visiting my daughter at university. Ample parking in the private grounds and very clean. Everything needed for a short trip and would happily stay again

peaceful location , near to city centre
located in a dark lane so did not feel safe walking at night and we had to drive. Parking was very tight

This review is not actually for Apartment 4 the Grove, as we had a message that we had been upgraded to The Fordham at 52 Old Elvet, because there were issues at Apartment 4.
We liked the cleanliness, the quietness, the very comfortable bed and wonderful shower, as well as the excellent location, very handy for central Durham. We also appreciated the provision of washing-up liquid, hand soap, shower gel, Tea towels and kitchen roll.
All the appliances seem new and the apartment has been furnished with no expense spared, but we felt some attention to detail was lacking: eg a salt cellar but no salt; no teapot or cafetiere (plastic coffee filters not very green); regular teabags in a welcome basket not replenished.
Perhaps more importantly, no instructions about fire exits (is this omission legal?); no instructions about refuse disposal or recycling. The TV doesn't seem quite tuned in, and didn't give radio stations at all. I bought a wooden spoon in Tesco and donated it - you can't cook anything without a wooden spoon. The kitchen tap is elaborate but the cold tap is in danger of coming off (reported).
So - it is posh, and in many ways very comfortable - but more thought needs to be given to making people feel welcome -especially as people coming to a self-catering flat in a city will often arrive by public transport. For these reasons we felt it was overpriced - even at the presumably lower rate we had paid.
