Best place to stay on the Douro

As the other reviews point out, this place is fabulous. We had a group of 4 staying - although the villa could sleep 10 and it was one of the best places we have ever stayed in. Spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and equipped with everything you need it was superb. Victor, the owner, was kind enough to meet us and show us around and helped us book a couple of great places to eat. Beds were comfy, the pool was great and the views spectacular. It's about an hours drive from Porto (@100 euros in a taxi) and Ancede village is about 15 mins walk away with a butcher, baker and general store, as well as a bar / restaurant which served great value food. Definitely recommend walking the Roman trail down to the lake and also a nature walk close by but it was the peace and tranquillity that stood out. This pace would be great for a family or small group of friends and we will be back!

Beautiful villa with amazing view

This amazing property has a stunning view over the River Douro and is a perfect, peaceful getaway from reality. Our host Victor was brilliant and attentive, providing great local recommendations and helped us source taxis to get around.

Breathtaking villa with an equally amazing vista of the Duoro river valley. Spacious and well designed.

Splendid isolation means a car is really essential to explore.

We very highly recommend this villa and host!

The most memorable and enjoyable week in Portugal! Casa do Vale de Cerdeiras offers a beautiful panoramic view from a villa with elegant style and all the modern conveniences, in the midst of historic villages and the famous Duoro River Valley, with many local cultural experiences and nearby vineyards for wine tasting and tours. An ancient Roman road lies just beyond the property gate for a rare hiking adventure! We are three couples from Canada who had the unique pleasure of enjoying this gorgeous villa and the ministrations of it’s most gracious host and hostess. Recommendations were offered on request, a traditional dinner was hosted at the villa (special thanks to Paula and Fernanda), two authentic local culinary experiences (Tasquina do Fumo; Casa do Lavrador), a cruise on the Duoro River, and a tour of the beautifully restored Mosteiro de Santo Andre de Ancede were all arranged by our host. We also visited Regua and Quinta da Pacheca for a wine tasting tour and lovely lunch. We all agree this was the most helpful and accommodating a host could be, while still respecting our privacy. It is clear Victor wants his guests to have the best experience possible in the home and land he undoubtedly loves.

The only amenity we might suggest adding is a dryer, for rainy weather when clothes cannot be hung to dry.

Perfect Holiday!

Stunning villa with the most beautiful views. Victor is an amazing host who made the trip extra special. We had never been to Portugal before, but will definitely return and without doubt would book this villa again 10/10.

A slice of paradise.

The pictures did not accurately reflect the property because it was 10x more beautiful and interesting than the pictures could convey. It was breath-taking. Nestled deep in the Douro Valley the view and the feeling is beyond words. The house and grounds were so interesting (full of unique art and an amazing sound system) and beautiful. Lemon, tangerine, orange and cherry trees in full bloom - there was a large platter with fresh picked fruit waiting for us when we arrived. Fresh herbs to cook with. The pool was perfect. The kitchen, fantastic. Victor was available throughout to answer any questions, and booked us the best restaurants. We are already talking about returning next year.

Dream house for dream vacation!

Everything was amazing here! The house is incredible, the owner was very welcoming and showed us around. The view from the house is magnificent and it is really peaceful so you can really relax there, drink morning coffee looking at the mountains, drink wine looking at amazing sunset. The railroad station is 40min walk away, and if you just want to walk around there is tourist trail really close to the house. If you want magical place to relax and enjoy your vacation look no further! Highly recommend!

A perfect place in a beautiful setting in the Douro valley.

Victor, the owner, made us feel so welcome. The house is beautiful and very personal. You have everything you want. The views from the garden and also from the inside makes you not want to leave. The large garden is full of different trees and plants and you can see that nothing is done without a great deal of thought behind it, this goes for the whole property. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Exceptional stay enjoying nature and peace

Property had EVERYTHING one might need. Nothing was amiss. Perfect getaway spot for a quiet relaxing vacation. Supermarket, butcher and bakery closeby. Fully equipped to have your own food cooked at home. Views are stunning!!

Fabulous house with quality features in a wonderful location and with stunning views.

A fabulous house for a week's bootcamp with our team. From the grand piano, the pool table, to the outdoor BBQ, dining area and the pool - everything was enjoyed daily. Five double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, a grand communal space with quality furniture, and high speed broadband made the stay very comfortable. The views from the house over the Douro and the surrounding landscape are stunning.

We are very happy that we chose this villa and we enjoyed our stay there

We liked the quality of the villa and its fittings and furnishings. We liked the views, the pool and the pool table in the games room. As we had requested on booking, two cots and two high chairs which were provided. We liked the peaceful rural surroundings

Given that we had small children in our party we were slightly concerned about the unprotected open staircases inside the villa and the rough stone stairways in the grounds. Also there was an exposed drop at the edge of the pool decking. There did not appear to be a torch available in the villa. Had there been a power cut, there would be a danger from the staircases. It would have been useful for there to have been more tourist information available in the villa giving details of local restaurants, activities etc.
