pretty gross

the peaceful garden and location

when i arrived, the lock on the door didn’t work, thought it was the card but it was the actual door. that was sorted and was moved into another room by a nice member of staff. new room - when i open the kettle i thought it was urine inside as it had a dark liquid, turned out to be peppermint tea but not sure why it was still in the kettle? luckily had my travel kettle anyway in the car. Saw the remote control was so dirty i didn’t want to touch it. Literally gross, i tried to clean with one of their towels without actually touching it, and brown stuff the same colour of poo came off onto the towel, absolutely disgusting and glad i never touched it or watched tv. Left a day early. the photo is after i’d tried to wipe some off, i left it as it was just disgusting.

A great place to stay.

Breakfast was great! We liked the location - very quiet and close to the park and curry mile! The courtyard is lively for a quiet moment. Staff were really friendly and kind. They said we could grab a cup of tea after checking out and sit and relax in the garden!

There is no lift so quite a lot of stairs. Not a problem for us but it could deter others. Complicated layout means you sometimes get lost in the corridors.

Colazione eccellente, posizione un po' lontana dal centro ma ben collegata dai pullman sia verso il centro della città che con l'aeroporto. Vicini tutti i servizi necessari.

A brilliant place to stay when working away from home.

I’ve stayed here several times over the last 18 months in the run up to and during Manchester BSL Fest which BSL Celebration organised. I really appreciated having access to the study space in the lovely library and to you Wi-Fi so I could continue to work away from home. The breakfast is great! Very filling and set me up nicely for a full day’s work. The rooms are a comfortable size and generally in very good repair. It’s a huge bonus being able to leave the car in the free car park and to have regular buses into the city centre practically in the doorstep.

Some of the mattresses could do with being replaced. And that is it. Everything else was great.

Never again

The breakfast was good a d the chef was a very friendly person.

I don't know how they are allowed to rent the room we stayed at. The bathroom was OK. The mattress wasn't comfortable, I felt afraid to lift the bedsheets to see the mattress. I would not even get a bed like that for free. All the facilities were very old. The carpet was very old. I don't know about other rooms but our room was disgusting.

Great value and super friendly staff

Staff were friendly, price was excellent for the location, which included free parking and a reasonable continental breakfast

Rooms were a little dated but clean and the tv was in a bit of bad position, and we needed to leave the window open as the radiator wouldn’t turn down

Excellent value for money, quiet and friendly.

It was really quiet. No noise from other rooms/corridors or the street. I had read comments about clanking from the pipes but we didn’t hear any of that. Everything was really clean and the room was quite spacious. The pillows were comfortable and there were extra blankets. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast room was really pleasant and there was lots of choice for breakfast, more than I had expected. The courtyard was lovely and tranquil.

The beds were a bit lumpy; you could feel the springs. Some things were quite old and worn such as the carpets and the bath, however, due to the low price this was acceptable and was still very good value for money. The breakfast and check out times were quite early which was fine on this occasion but at other times I would like it to be an hour later.

Special haven

Unique accommodation in a working study centre. Extremely comfortable if a little ageing bedrooms but charming and well heated. The breakfast was lovely and easy to take your time. We had a large load of luggage but were guided well to store it and everything felt secure. If you want a quiet, friendly alternative to chain hotels this is it.

Only staying one night...the great study environment was so peaceful.

Buen alojamiento en Manchester!

Ubicación perfecta cerca a una estación de bus que conecta varias partes de la ciudad. El hospedaje es muy cómodo y tienen buen desayuno. El personal siempre nos atendió con la mejor predisposición. Las instalaciones cómodas y el cuarto con amplio espacio.

Recomiendo fijarse en que piso están sus habitaciones, por si traen mucho equipaje sepan que las trasladarán por escaleras.

It was fine, but they could definitely do better when it comes to the cleaning.

Well it looked nice. Also the breakfast was great too. I liked the lokation.

However, not warm at all. There is mold in the bathroom in the creases of the glass Doors and on the ceiling and on Windows. The bedsheets had stains on them and the carpet seemed dirty, too.

Perfect location in Manchester

The hotel is located in a very clean and quiet district. The staff is very friendly and the room is large. The included breakfast was adequate and nutritious.

The room had a little musty smell. The toilet tank in our room fills very slowly. Every time it took more than one hour.

Good

It's very central and good value for money. The breakfast was great and the guy serving breakfast is very friendly.

The bed isn't that comfortable and the shower didn't work properly. The fan in the bathroom made a crazy noise. Carpets could do with a change, but it's still value for money.

Unable to stay the night

The staff, especially Monique, were lovely.

The window was broken and we were told that there were no other available rooms so we had to book another hotel. The receptionist, who was lovely, tried to contact the manager to no avail. She also attempted to fix the window but wasn't able to. We were told that no other rooms were available so we had to book another hotel. The manager has now said we are unable to receive any refund, even though we were unable to stay in a safe room and no alternatives were offered. I've been given the number for the next manager and I will amend this review if the outcome is positive. We paid over £150 for this B&B, weren't able to stay the night, were not offered alternative accommodation, and had to book another hotel. We'll be out of pocket the money we paid for this hotel by no fault of our own. Severely disappointed to say the least.

Friendly, cosy and quiet but very old place

I liked the location - close to the University of Manchester. My room was very quiet. Breakfast was good - drink as much coffee as you can and eat some fresh chocolate muffins. And all staff was very friendly!

Beddings and towels were fresh but the room is very old and this gave a bad impression. Carpet needs some deep cleaning. Bathroom is too dark. My mattress was old and uncomfortable. I still liked the atmosphere and the price/ location. So, I have no regrets and might even come back. But one needs to be prepared: this place hasn't been renovated in a while.

Nice outdoor space, the room was of lovely size. Great continental breakfast with a wide range of options!

The bathroom was small and the room looked a little old. Walls are thin and you can hear what's happening in the hallway/staircase
