Very friendly and helpful staff, nice cooked breakfast, clean and comfortable room and a view over a field of sheep! The property accommodated our request for a room on the quiet side of the hotel which we appreciated very much.
Not sure if the water in the bathroom was drinking water so we had to keep asking for our jug to be topped up

Good choice and good quality

What a gem of a place! From arrival at the Old Posting House, we were made to feel very welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. Our room was beautifully appointed, exceptionally clean and had a comfortable bed and an excellent shower! The evening meals were absolutely lovely (no complaints from any of us) and the breakfast (full english) was exceptional.
As we were out on the fells all day in the typical English weather (torrential rain in July!) somewhere to dry our wet clothes would have been a great addition. This did not detract from our stay though.

Friendly owners very helpful with a lovely room with great facilities we couldn’t fault anything about it. The location was just perfect for us and we are looking to go back again next year.
Nothing.

Breakfast was great as was the location, loved it!

The breakfast was well cooked and staff were flexible to individuals' choices.
The evening meal was good - portions a bit too generous for me though.
Our room was quiet at the rear of the property - it was lovely to hear the lambs bleating in the morning.
The property does not have a lounge. We were meeting up with a group of friends and whilst it was absolutely fine that the bar closed early (about 9pm most days), it would have been ideal if we could have met up as a group in a lounge area.

Excellent food and staff
Only issue our room was on the very noisy road

Well prepared efficiently served breakfast . Good varied menu for evening meal. Food nicely cooked Attractive room and bathroom. Nice chairs. Owners friendly and helpful. Room heating difficult to get to come on in evening. Other guests very pleasant. No noise from bar in bedroom.
Had to open door to get heating to come on in bedroom in evening. O K in the morning.

Food at the Old Posting House was superb and good value for money. Our pet was accommodated well, even our breakfast request for him. Room to a high standard and very clean throughout the property.
The location is a little remote.

Location was lovely and found easily even though it was dark when I arrived. I walked in to the lovely smell of food and a welcome from the owner, who quickly showed me to my room. Room was lovely size, ensuite too, all absolutely spotless. Bed was very comfortable. We had an evening meal which was really good for portion size and quality (Cumberland sausage and mustard mash and steak etc) and the owners were lovely, really friendly. Breakfast was very good, cereal, toast and full English, all cooked to order. Would definitely recommend staying here and would not hesitate to book again when visiting for work or leisure.
Nothing I didn't like, everything was great.

Lovely staff, great country pub/inn feel with comfortable bedrooms for a nightstop enroute back from holiday in the Highlands. Food was really excellent, both dinner and breakfast. Wide selection of local beers and gins. Dog enjoyed it too! Ideal for a stop over, just the job.

Excellent dinner menu and breakfast! Couldn't be bettered.
Room prices on the high size, but supply and demand probably dictated this following COVID restrictions.

Breakfast was 1st class with plenty of choice and the owners would go that one step further to make sure you didn't go hungry . Location was a little of the beaten track which suited us perfectly far enough away from the crowds yet near enough to the lakes.
Nothing .

Breakfast was excellent, home made jam and marmalade, good sausages. Evening menu looked good however I was eating with friends so didn't sine there. Room clean, excellent shower, comfortable bed.
Be aware that room one does, as this is not a modern building, have a low ceiling in some areas. Not suited to the taller guest

Great little gem hidden away in the North Lakes and yet close enough to Cockermouth and Keswick if you wanted a trip to a bigger town. Ideal for our requirements for a trip up for a wedding, Staff are second to none and as helpful as they could be, breakfast was just what was needed and the rooms are bigger then expected.
No real stand out issues.

Great place which has kept the old character of the original building.
Very helpful and friendly owners, fantastic food.
