Staff were excellent going over and above to accommodate our needs. Food absolutely delicious. Steaks the best I've ever had.
Room was a little dated but spotlessly clean and comfortable

Nice friendly chilled out place to stay with excellent staff that were very attentive. There is nothing pretentious about this place and they welcome all sorts of people. We were a friendly group of six motorcyclists, we have stayed at places in the past where we have not received a warm welcome, this is not the case here. Would highly recommend for people who just want somewhere clean ,comfortable with nice food and a friendly atmosphere. However if you are the sort of person who likes to brag about there holidays and getaways on social media then this probably isn’t the place for you.
If I’m being picky the shower curtains could have been longer so there is less chance of flooding the floor. Secondly the rooms are quiet warm so summer duvets would have been a preferred option. There were blankets in the wardrobe for those who do feel the cold. These are only suggestions as the good far out ways the two issues mentioned.

lots of original features. spacious clean rooms with newly fitted shower room. owner and staff member were very friendly and helpful. great sized breakfast to top it off.

Very good breakfast but perhaps not as much choice as on my previous stays. The waitresses were young but well trained and eager to please.

location /food/and friendly amenable staff .
The carpets and furniture in the bedroom room was quite retro - but have add that it was very comfortable and exceptionally clean .

More than adequate

Breakfast was excellent, something to suit all tastes and dietary requirements, the evening meal menu had the most GF options I have ever seen and clearly marked, my daughter was spoilt for choice; it is so pleasing when you don't need to ask if any options are available. The staff were child friendly and attentive. My wife only drinks decaffeinated tea or coffee both were promptly provided for the room hospitality tray when requested. The hotel was ideally placed for our requirements that weekend. Our party comprised my wife and I, daughter and grandaughter.
Only one minor adverse observation, there was no sugar on the breakfast table but was provided on request.

The hotel staff were lovely: friendly, helpful and efficient
The cooked breakfast was really good: very tasty and plentiful
Our room was very clean and the shower looked like it had recently been refurbished. There was plenty of hot water
Unfortunately, the bed creaked and squeaked every time one of us moved so we had an awful night's sleep.

Was handy for where I had to be.
Food wasn’t so good, breakfast was mildly better than dinner, shower in the room was like some sort of battle to stop the curtain blocking the drain versus stop the water going on the bathroom floor, didn’t sleep very well and I banged my head very badly on a door frame that had no warning about how low it was.

Great location - close to the Lakes, the Scottish borders, the west coast and Carlisle. Easy to drive to and around, the whole area has mostly well maintained quiet B roads. The hotel is family-run, not a chain. I came up for a few days to recover from an illness, the staff were exceptionally kind to me. The en-suite room was clean, quiet and comfortable. There was a television (didn't try it), hairdryer etc. Large car park just outside the main entrance. Bar - usual hotel selection of drinks, about 5 beers on tap, all top pressure, no hand pump real ale. They had Becks Blue in bottles for non-drinkers. Surprisingly good and large selection of malt whiskies. Food is excellent, large range of breakfast items and lots of options in the evening. Portions enormous, in fact too big for me. Wigton is only minutes away by car, Carlisle about 25 minutes where there are lots of restaurants etc. Good value for money. Best thing is the wonderful staff. I will definitely return.
Weather awful, but what do you expect from Cumbria in October? Also, I struggled to understand the local accent.

Location perfect for our plans.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Delicious breakfast every morning of the three mornings of our stay.
Dinner delicious on the two nights we ate there and very reasonably priced.
Very few steps into and around the property so easy to move around.
No blackout blinds in the room so a bit bright in the morning.
We struggled with the key to the room sometimes.

Very nice hotel which is spotlessly clean in all
areas. The rooms are well appointed with
everything you need. Couple the above with the
lovely and friendly staff and a fabulous piping hot
breakfast and you can’t go wrong.
