The location is lovely, at the foot of the Hohenstein mountain, we had an amazing view from our terrace. The accommodation consists of semi-detached stone bungalows, they stay cool inside even during the heat of the day, so that was great. The staff was lovely, very attentive and friendly. We stayed 2 nights, the food was a bit variable the first evening and very good the second. We did a sundowner drive with the guide Abram and it was really lovely - the drive, the birds and animals, the conversation, the sundowner... really recommended! There are also 3 hiking trails that start right from the reception, we did the Kudu trail, it is well marked and has good views but you need to start early, otherwise it will be too hot towards the end of the walk!
The internet connection was really bad, but the manager said they are working to improve it.

Ralph, the manager was very helpful and friendly.
attractive outlook towards the Hohenstein mountains and pleasant walks around the property
the cold shower in the morning. One solar water heater serviced two apartments so when the guests in the next door room had evening showers there was not enough hot water left for my wife and I to shower in the morning even though we had not showered the previous evening.

Absolutely fantastic place: peace and quiet, walking trails, wildlife viewing, amazing landscape, beautiful view of Hohenstein, spotless and comfortable room, good food, cold beer, wifi at the restaurant, friendly welcome. I wish we could have stayed at least another night.

Beautiful location, nice scenery around
I was mislead by high rating of this accommodation which didn’t prove to be the case in reality, despite sensitive price tag. We had quite a few issues. 1. When we arrived security kept us 15 mins at the gate as they didn’t have keys to let our car in. 2. Room got heated during the day and it felt like in oven all the time, even at night when temperatures fell outside to 15 degrees (no AC in the room). 3. there was terribly bad smell coming from bathroom 4. Wi-Fi was disaster even at reception, we asked staff to restart router but they just refused, told us the problem was with our IPhones and laptops. 5. Food was very average. Additionally, they charged us even for tap water as apparently their half board includes food only. 5. Staff was rude and arrogant. During check out when we were trying to explain issues we faced as feedback receptionist didn’t care at all and just walked away to other guests in the middle of conversation.
Usually I’m not picky, but having paid $200 per night I would expect a bit better quality, especially comparing to other much better camps we stayed in at much lower price. Don’t recommend at all!

The location is beautiful. We did enjoy the very well-marked hiking trails ( 4km, 5 km and 6 km)
Poor value for money compared to other lodges in the same region and other regions in Namibia. No comparison to e.g. Gondwana Lodges.
Only one option for dinner for all guests. No option for a second helping or e.g. more salad. The cake offered in the afternoon was not tasteful ( ready made bake-mix) . In most rooms only a fan and the rooms are poorly ventilated and very hot. The staff were not friendly or helpful- very unusual for Namibia! Afternoon tour is overprized as the farm area is not very large. We were a group of 8 and all thought the accommodation is very expensive for what is offered.

the food was only ok

The welcome by friendly staff set the tone for our stay. This was followed by a peaceful sleep without either the TV or Wi-Fi. Furthermore, we could watch animals drinking at the water hole while having dinner/breakfast. The food was also exceptionally fresh and delicious.
I was sceptical while driving because of the road condition. Although the road is regularly maintained, it is quite rocky, fortunately our vehicle was a 4x4, so, we did not have much problem reaching the lodge.

The outdoor seating area offers amazing views.
The pool area was good.
When we stayed they just didn’t make the most of the facilities. There is a fabulous fire pit area with amazing views that they didn’t light.
50% of guests when we stayed were part of a large tour group who during dinner were allowed to dominate with a game of animal bingo which left the other ten diners bemused & amused.

We spent in the Hohenstein Lodge two nights and were very satisfied. Every room has great view on the Hohenstein hill, there is waterhole just in front of the restaurant and it is possible to make walking tours in the surroundings and/or pick one of several guided tours by car. We did both and were very satisfied. Compared to other lodges we stayed on in Namibia this lodge provides great service for the money. Highly recommended!
There are always some imperfections to find on every lodge but to be honest I don’t recall any in this case. Great value for the money, no doubts.
