Laid back vibe and the host is super friendly, beds are comfy and the room has fans and AC. The kitchen has anything you need to cook although due to its position on the balcony it has a lot of ants. This is a general problem in Costa Rica though and not particular of this hostel.
There is no chilling area except from the kitchen/balcony which is next to the dorm, so it can be loud if people are not respectful. Also there is no reception and the door is constantly open so there is a sense of insecurity. Literally anyone can walk in to the dorm.

I liked the atmosphere, feels like a family house. The bunkbeds are not shaky. There were not to many people. It is an easy walk over the beach to guiones beach to surf (20min)
There was no one around for check in and payment. The beds were not made

The bunk beds were comfortable, they had a swimming pool. Easy to get around.
The kitchen was not well equipped.

The location was good, walking distance to the beach. Bring a head torch for the evening time though.
Leaking roof, damp sheets, ants all over the bed, mice in the kitchen ruined our food. Basic check in, no further help available after check in. No communal areas to relax. Leaking shower, water continuously dripping.

had the 12 bed dorm to myself.
Was a little tricky to find, even though I used Waze.

The place is dirty and hardly attended. Showed up in the evening and no one was there to give me sheets until about 11pm when I was already asleep. The kitchen is not kept clean and the place overall does not seem to be cleaned often. For how much it costs, it is not worth the stay. The 4you hostel nearby is a much better choice and the couple that runs it is very kind and speaks English and Spanish… and they clean the place!

The dog that lives there is baby gorgeous and the sweetest thing in the world.
Well, where do i begin. First of all the manager was obviously on drugs or drunk or probably both. Also the bathroom area is INFESTED with picas (biting ants) REALLY PAINFULL. You can't even go to the bathroom with out your feet getting eaten alive. This hostel should be called "Burnt Toes" hostel! Don't even get me started with the shower the door doesn't close and there was no soap to be found. Because of the shower and picas situation, we had to wash ourselves in the kitchen sink with a pot of water. The beds don't get cleaned and we saw some questionable white stains on the sheets (take a hint as to what that is).

it was a really dirty and dangerous place. I had a bunk bed under the Fan and when I try to clean the place next to my bed the Fan crashed into my head and I got a big laceration and have to go to the hospital to get stich. The Fan was out of Metall and rusted all over and was full with dirt.
So never take the Bed under the Fan be carefully!!! @ burned toast surfcamp- clean the rooms also in the top of the wardrobe- the people who stay in the upper beds need this places!!

the location, close to the beach but it’s far from everything else! if you have a viechle of some kind you will be sweet but if your on foot there’s a lot of walking involved

Leaving. The other travellers there were lovely but the hostel and host were terrible. Hot shed filled with bunks without sheets when we arrived with old spring mattress. Angry squirrel routinely throws large sticks at tin roof to wake you at 445am. Kitchen would be good but minimal stovetops working There was not much to like.
There is no reception so you have to watsapp the guy when you arrive, if he responds you are lucky. We waited 2 hours and were left on read. We had to find someone living next door who ultimately went to find him. By that time it was dark, nothing was ready and frankly felt unsafe.(not to mention the poor girl who checked in the night after us who didn't get a response, waited until 10pm outside in the dark and ultimately had to sleep on a bed with no sheets and no towel.
We could go on and on.
12 people in the one dorm, only two small fans so you had to leave the doors open. Consequently you get eaten by sandflies and mozzies.
The toilet was not working properly.
The property doesn't really look like the photos. Maybe 10 years ago it was nice but it's run down, uncomfortable and unkempt.
We would recommend not coming to nosara rather than stay here. We left as soon as we could book accomodation elsewhere.

In walking distance from Pelada (10 min) and Guiones (30) via trail. This is a simple, rustic hostel with an awesome open air kitchen. The host was welcoming and I was given clean sheets and towels upon arrival.
It was a bit hot and buggy at night, and bathrooms could have been better but overall still a decent spot. I was a bit scared based on some of the other reviews but this is a decent hostel for the price and location. if you like rustic, do it. if you want fancy, go pay for it over in Guiones.

It is a 10min walk from Playa Pelada
- I left absolutely covered in ant bites
- My first night it was overbooked, and the owner was extremely rude to the person who asked for their money back. I saw him throw the money at them
- A guy broke through the bunk above mine

everything was broken but that made it more fun cos you had to help everyone do anything

it was great

The matress was fine
The hostel itself is just one room and the kitchen. The kitchen misses a lot of stuff and there is no place for more than 4 at the same time. The bathroom doesnt work sometimes either.
And the person who workes there is barely there and doesnt tell you anything.
For that price you can go somewhere better than this.

Sleeping in my own hamook, because ot unclean sheets
Price for the area

Cheap. If all you need is a bed in Nosara then this is the place. Don't expect anything more.
It's just a shed with bunk beds in it, kitchenette was dirty, people at reception were not friendly. I actually think the positive reviews of this place have been faked.

Walking distance to beach, stores. Outdoor kitchen.
Run down and not very clean.
