Very quite location, bedroom was clean, with clean linen and towels, room was airy, bright,, bed was super comfy ,bathroom was clean. lovely dinning area, staff were helpful and polite. Nice choice of breakfasts which were included in the price of the room.
Hair dryer supplied in the room and a large mirror for my partner to do her hair.
Evening meals were to pricey and fancy and not a lot of choice. Would of prefered home traditional cooking ie steak & ale pie, mash etc
Unfortunately we ended up having cold showers due to an issue with the boiler.

My room was very well appointed, with a lovely luxurious finish and to a high specification. The bed and bedlinens were so comfortable, I haven’t slept so well in quite some time and as a business traveller, I am quite particular about the mattress. This was wonderful. Breakfast was delicious and the staff couldn’t be more accommodating. Lovely peaceful location.
Nothing. It was lovely.

Can't comment as did not stay.
Unfortunately did not stay at the Red Lion.
Parking was atrocious. It was too remote.
Nearest place to purchase anything 3 miles away.
Moved to Exeter for the 3 night stay.

Very very friendly staff 🙂 the room was nice and clean and the food really good. The atmosphere in the dinning and barroom was cozy, specially with the locals meeting for a pint in the weekend. We really enjoyed our stay.

A traditional village pub, in a lovely area; comfortable rooms and good food.

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere so ideal to just spend the night and go for food/drinks in the bar in the hotel. Nice staff, the food was fine. We had a normal size room, the bed a bit too soft for our liking and slightly small (for a Kingsize!), but for the rest it was fine. Nice breakfast in the morning.
Booking a Kingsize bedroom, we expected a bigger bed for sure.

Wonderful stay, greeted by super friendly staff throughout. Would highly recommend.

Great hospitality. Good food evening and at breakfast. Very warm, cosy bar and welcoming customers made it feel like our local away from home. Close to the National Park but not suffering from National Park prices and tweeness. Marvelously updated bathroom.
I do like a packet of biscuits in my room to have with my early morning cuppa

The friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. There is lot's to see and do in the area. The pub itself is located in a quiet rural village and has lots of character.
You need to watch out for portholes on some of the roads nearby.

So pleased found The Red Lion - Great couple of nights stay.
Despite arriving late, had already been advised no hot food would be available however offer of left over roast beef and ham sandwiches were most welcome and very tasty, as were the breakfasts and evening meal - if your staying would definitely recommend you book a table for dinner - our favourite s were the steak and venison burger!
Made to feel really welcome - helpful and happy staff - the Red Lion certainly has a local feel.
Beautiful surroundings and hoping we'll be back to try out some of the local walks

Very helpful and friendly staff, the rooms are exceptionally comfortable, enjoyed a pint by the nice old 17th century fireplace

Warm, luxurious, comfy room. And that dogs were allowed.
We weren't able to have dinner as the kitchen was shut that night.

Great place, good food and staff are lovely

The location was remote and reached, when traveling from the West, using many B roads. This resulted, for us, in an extraordinary drive through narrow, scenic roads. An alternative using roads and approaching from the East is quicker but not as scenic.
The evening meal was pleasant and the breakfast large and hearty.

Hotel in a small village near Exmoor was a little difficult to find with satnav so we were grateful not to be searching in the dark. Once found, it was everything we'd hoped for - nice, old building (bedroom a little on the small side but comfortable and well equipped); friendly, helpful staff; excellent, tasty food, evening and breakfast (fresh croissants were a surprise and delight); useful tips of where to visit next day.
It wasn't a problem for us, but be aware that the address is Rookery Hill - for a reason. They provided earplugs but we didn't need them.
