Bed linen torn in places and bin lid broken off, otherwise it would have been excellent.

Had our own parking right outside the front door. The interior was very thoughtfully equipped and laid out, very clean. It is well appointed for such a small property. Many electric sockets for charging phones, computers etc. A very comfortable (but springy) double bed. Decent bathroom. Reasonable Wi-Fi. We appreciated the generous welcome pack as it took a while to find a decent shop for provisions. 2 reasonable TVs + a DVD player. Only about a 25 minute walk into Rye for an oldie and a few minutes to drive. Excellent location in an old farm yard.
Look forward to coming back here one day 'ere long!
Hard to say! A couple of very minor suggestions. We couldn't find kitchen scissors to open packets etc. The key safe outside the front door is easy to open but hard to close as there is little room for the keys with their rings to fit inside and I fiddled around for a couple of minutes before I could jiggle them in and securely snap it shut.

Excellent self catering accommodation in a beautiful setting, walkable to Rye. It's a really special little place, roomy for two, peaceful and very pretty. Quality and comfy bed and bedding.
We stayed at Buttercup four years ago, and promised ourselves another visit it was so lovely. This stay, whilst still really great, we found a top up of some kitchen essentials would be ideal, just basics like more cups and some wine glasses. Some better quality cutlery and sharp knives to match the overall standard would also improve a stay.

Bathroom was damp and cold

Location was exactly what we were looking for. The studio was perfect.
The only downside was there wasnt a washing up bowl.

Lovely location short walk downhill into town. Welcomed little hamper on arrival. Most relaxing stay.
No cooker extractor fan which is an issue when the bedroom is in the same room.
We accept it is in a rural location but there were quite a few spiders and cobwebs especially behind the bed.
Both the kitchen and bathroom floors were not very clean.

We enjoyed our 4-night stay in this very clean, well-equipped and spacious apartment (one of two adjoining properties) in a very peaceful location. The king-size bed was comfortable, and crockery, kitchen utensils and equipment, glassware etc were more than sufficient for our requirements. A very helpful folder is provided by the owners, with tips & hints for local places to eat, information about the property and facilities etc, together with some local tourist information leaflets.
As noted in other reviews, the walk from the property is about 15-20 minutes (downhill!) to Rye rail station, and most restaurants, pubs, large supermarket (Jempsons) etc are within approximately 10 minutes from the station. There is an alternative walking route (instead of the main road which can be quite busy), via the "Cadborough Cliff" footpath accessible through a farm gate, leading down a hillside to the "1066 Country Walk" which in turn leads into Rye, via a shady path - green and pleasant in hot summer weather!
Regular buses to Camber Sands, Rye Harbour and other locations leave from stops very near the rail station.

The location was good, easy to get into Rye and quiet. The accommodation was comfortable.
Oven was broken and kitchen area/ crockery & cutlery not very clean

Buttercup is a comfy cottage with lovely furniture and art work. well located too.
It’s a shame that the effort that has gone into the furnishings isn’t mirrored i the kitchen area. I wasn’t planning on doing much cooking but it would have been nice to have had a pair of cereal bowls for example. You also have to take your own recyclables away with you which felt like going back in time a couple of decades.

There could have been two decent sized breakfast bowls instead of one and one small one.
After a shower there was a lot of water running off surfaces on to the floor which the extractor fan did not cope with.

Approximately a mile outside of Rye. Quiet and convenient.
Kindly owner.

Buttercup is a really lovely conversion of an old dairy. It has quirky furniture, but it is comfortable and attractive. The kitchen is small but was adequate enough for us as a couple staying only 3 nights. The living area is very spacious, with a comfortable sofa. The bedroom is open-plan to the lounge but well-hidden behind the old screen in the middle. The bathroom is just off the bedroom space, but completely separate and private with a door (not open-plan as seems to be the fashion at the moment!). There is a good strong, hot shower over a full size bath, with a handle on the wall to keep you steady as you get in and out. Just ensure that you pull the shower curtain right round once in the shower, otherwise the whole bathroom gets a soaking. The central heating system is very good and warms the place up quickly if needed. The Wi-fi was strong.
There is a second apartment next door inside the building, with its own front door. We didn't hear any noise from next door. There is a courtyard area right outside the front door, half for Buttercup and the other side for the second apartment, with a dividing fence between the two sides. Plenty of space for car parking, and a seating area with a small table and two chairs.
It would be possible to walk along the main road into Rye town centre but it looks like it would be quite a long walk along a busy main road lined with houses, so not particularly attractive until you reach the town centre itself. If you drive into town and go to the large car park behind the station (not the car park by Jempsons supermarket) it's only £2 to park there all day. It was pretty full when we were there during October half term week, but if you wait a few minutes then a space usually becomes free. You can park in Jempsons car park for free if you are only there for a short while (up to 30 minutes, I think).
A couple of minor points:
The photographs of the surrounding countryside were a bit misleading because if you sit in the courtyard, you cannot see the surrounding countryside views as the courtyard is surrounded by large bushes/hedges.
If arriving by car, do read the directions carefully! If you don't read them first you will do what we did and drive right past the entrance road, because the location marker on the Google map seems to show that the farm is on the right hand side of the road driving out of Rye, whereas it is actually on the left straight after the mini-roundabout. The entrance road is a small road and easy to miss. It would be helpful if a sign could be placed somewhere at the entrance showing the name of the apartment and/or pointing the way. The only sign is a small one for Cadborough Farm, and easy to miss in the dark.
My only small niggle: The two chairs for the little dining table are pretty uncomfortable to sit on as they have slippery wooden seats which slope backwards. A cushion doesn't help as it falls through the gap at the back, so I would suggest the owners splash out on two different chairs please!

Beautiful location, very quiet. Buttercup was ideal, clean, comfortable and cosy. Great views over Rye and Winchelsea and out to the sea. Need a car as it's a long walk into Rye. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

Great location, well equipped, clean, comfy bed
Nothing really.
4.5
The location was convenient for our purposes.
The lock box was difficult to open. The non slip mat for the shower was dirty.
1.5
Location on a farm with ousthouse just on the outskirts of Rye. Good directions & easy to get into property.
Room smelt of fish, or something rotting for the duration of the stay. Bathroom was not clean including bath mat covered in hair and mould. Overpriced for the standard of accommodation.
4.5
Pretty cottage, in a clean, quiet location and good value for money. The bed was so comfortable! The hosts had great communication, were thoughtful and were very thorough. The cottage was in a farm, but you can’t see, hear or smell the farm from inside the cottage. There was good seating options outside the cottage, so you can enjoy the space even more. We saw lots of cute lambs on our way in and out of the cottage. It was close to the town too (about a 20 minute walk), so we could explore Rye quite easily. I recommend this cottage. I look forward to hopefully coming back one day.
Sometimes we could hear the cottage next door, as they were a bit loud, especially when cooking. I noticed that I couldn’t see ‘barbecue facilities’, as stated under the facilities, but assume that you’d need to bring your own portable/disposable bbq. You also have to go off site into town to a launderette if you want to wash your clothes.

Location was just outside of the town. It was a short walk of about twenty minutes. 1 mile. lovely town with plenty of pubs. Train station next to town
Would have been nice if the heating had been on when we arrived as the host said it would be. Quite cold inside when we arrived.
3.0
Chairs at the dining table were very uncomfortable. WiFi poor. Drawers in the wardrobe smelt musty. Toilet seat wrong size for toilet. Very little cupboard space in kitchen. All looked a little tired and in need of renovation.
