The views, the architecture, and the landscaping were outstanding ! All the staff, from reception to housekeeping to the restaurant, were highly professional and gracious to guests.

Good resort and easy access to Marino Ballena NP / Uvita.

Very nice resort with huge garden and perfect view towards the sea. We only stayed 1 night, however, the service & staff was very good (we got a later check-out on request without any problem/charge). The rooms are very big with lots of space and a nice balcony. All is very clean and professional managed.

It seems that the hotel /rooms need some renovation & updates after many years: e.g. not the newest standard on furniture, lamps, bath, etc.

Not worth your money

The property is in the most amazing location, overlooking the sea and surrounded by rainforest. The pool was very large & we had fun there.

Unfortunately as lovely as the view was the property was awful! The rooms were dark and looked unkept. The cups in our room were not used by us and dirty. At breakfast which was really poor, compared to other places we had stayed in Costa Rica, where serving spoons were placed was full of ants! The large power generator was outside our room and made so much noise. It’s such a shame as the location is amazing & we really wanted to like this property. We left 3 days earlier than we should have. The property should be a 3 star if that.

A Little Bit of Paradise

Wonderful resort-like hotel, with large spacious rooms, friendly “can do” staff, very good on site restaurant and spectacular views of the ocean. The hotel and grounds are immaculately manicured with fun quirky touches like a gazebo of books and yoga center. The pool is huge and squeeky clean with lots of pool chairs and a bar a very short distance. Included breakfast was way above average; eggs cooked to order, fruit, good coffee, bacon, ham etc..There is artwork throughout the property and many places to walk, jog or exercise. Highly recommend.

The TV really was difficult to o-erate with no instructions. The WiFi could be better, but did work.

Wonderful and relaxing

Excellent staff, service, and room! Everyone was nice, the nature of the mountains and the view of the ocean is really relaxing. The spa is next level fantastic, and very fair prices.The food is great. We would be happy to stay again. Great experience.

Great option for Uvita

We just had a great couple of days at Cristal Ballena, and we recommend the place very highly: Everything from the location and the rooms to the food served was absolutely excellent. Communication before and during our stay was impeccable, and the hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. The pool area deserves a special mention: The restaurant is right next to the water, which makes it easy to combine lunch/dinner with pool time, and you get a view of the Pacific from the area as well. Perfect!

Our go to hotel in Uvita.

We love this hotel in Ballena for its location and for the large beautiful pool as we are swimmers. We always get a massage as they are great. The rooms are nice, some have better views than others.

The air conditioning went out in our room, but the staff quickly found us another room.

Superb

The hotel is surrounded by gardens and jungle, has a stunning view over the bay from amongst others the pool, has large, clean and very comfortable rooms. Staff at the restaurant were super friendly and a joy to talk to.

The hotel is lovely, for us personally the town and surrounding area around Uvita was not for us. When traveling without a car the town and surrounding area are very difficult to get around.

Beautiful location and stunning views. Great food. Lovely pool. Friendly staff, and really friendly and knowledgeable owners. Amazing bird life. Luxurious suites.

The only thing we didn't like was that we had to leave at the end of our stay :)

The facility is amazing. The images of the King bed Master room do not do justice to it. The room is huge, well equipped an faces the view. The balcony is huge and had dream ocean views and sunsets. There was almost no reason to leave the room.

a room is really large, as well as a balcony. but that’s about it. you also have a relatively okay breakfast, given that a lot of breakfasts that are served in the hotels do not even offer vegetables and a very small selection of fruits. here they had some veggies and fruits.

rooms are dated we stayed only for 2 night and both nights we didn’t have any hot water in the shower. pipe bursted on the day of our arrival. they have ended up giving us a small discount. hotel has a great view but if you have no car then you are trapped. Bar is just okay and a restaurant is overpriced, well we didn’t eat in the restaurant so I don’t know if it was good. but if you have a car there are couple of good restaurants around you can drive to.

BEST HOTEL!!

This is one of my favorite hotels I’ve stayed in anywhere on earth, honestly - especially for the price. Absolutely stunning hotel with beautiful rooms, delicious breakfast, an incredible pool, and beautiful porches looking out onto the property - we were able to see white-faced capuchins and chestnut-mandibled toucans both days we stayed. One of the prettiest sunsets I’ve ever seen was from the restaurant terrace here, overlooking the Pacific past Uvita.

The cleaning staff left the windows open each day resulting in some LARGE SPIDERS. Make sure the bathroom window is closed!!! The yoga room was under construction for the whole 48 hours. Boo!
