Step inside the fabulous Washington Square Manor, and you will be instantly transported to a simpler time and place… 1899 Savannah to be exact. This luxury vacation rental has four bedrooms and is ideally situated directly on Washington Square, considered by many to be Savannah's most beautiful residential square.
Washington Square was originally laid out in 1790 with homes dating back to 1797 in the colonial style which was typical of Savannah homes built 200 years ago. The Washington Square Manor was built in 1899 and is one of the “newest” homes on the square. It was built in the classic Queen Anne Victorian style of the period. Washington Square was named in honor of George Washington, Revolutionary War general and first president of the United States. President Washington visited Savannah in 1791 and stayed at a home a few blocks over on St. James Square (now Telfair Square).
Washington Square is your picturesque front yard and features slate walkways bordered with native shrubs and a colorful array of flowering plants underneath a canopy of moss-draped old live oaks. The square is one of Savannah's most popular spots for outdoor weddings year-round. On most weekends, it is fairly common to see brides being delivered to the square by horse drawn carriages.
The property is ideally situated in the northeastern quadrant of Savannah's “Landmark Historic District” – one of the largest areas of its kind in America, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The property is located at the corner of two historic Savannah streets – East Bryan Street and Houston Street and within easy walking distance of the entire Landmark Historic District, including:
• Historic Bay and River Street (1 block north)
• Savannah's Waving Girl Monument (3 blocks northeast)
• The Brice Hotel (1/2 block east) – Savannah's all-new upscale, boutique hotel with 145 guest rooms!
• Broughton Street Downtown Shopping District (2 blocks south)
• Leopold's Ice Cream (5 blocks southwest) – Voted Best Ice Cream in Savannah!
• Savannah City Market (8 blocks west)
• Paula Deen's – The Lady and Sons Restaurant (7 blocks west)
• Davenport House Museum (5 blocks southwest)
• Savannah Candy Kitchen (4 blocks northwest)
• Washington Square (front yard)
• Greene Square (3 blocks south)
• Warren Square (2 blocks west)
• B. Matthew's Eatery (3 blocks northwest)
• The Olde Pink House Restaurant (4 blocks west) – Reservations recommended.
• The Pirates' House Restaurant (1 block east)
• Emmet Park (1 block north)
The home has a historic Savannah floor plan with a side-hall entrance and includes many original features such as plaster ceiling medallions in the living room and dining room, antique heart-pine floors, and plaster walls. The parlor has stunning views of the square and a gorgeous chandelier. The dining room has the companion chandelier and a large dining table for eight. The kitchen features a cozy seating area with one of the five HDTV's found in the home. The kitchen includes a gas range, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, and double sink as well as granite countertops. In the rear, a charming brick courtyard awaits you and is ideal for your morning coffee or simply relaxing after a long day of Savannah sight-seeing.
The upstairs contains the master bedroom ensuite which overlooks Washington Square and has a balcony that runs the width of the home. The two additional bedrooms have access to a separate full bath with vintage fixtures. A permanent staircase to the third floor attic allows access to the fourth bedroom with a full bed and twin bed. The home sleeps up to nine guests comfortably.
There is a dedicated laundry room on the first floor, as well as a quaint powder room tucked under the main staircase. The ceilings throughout the house are high with crown molding in most rooms. There are five fireplaces with original Victorian period mantles.
This beautiful century home offers everything you could ever want in a luxury Historic Savannah rental combined with the perfect location. Live like a true Savannah native… If only for a short while!

Beautiful property. Awesome location! Everything very walkable.

This is a beautiful home that my group didn't want to leave! We could all envision ourselves living there. However, a few modifications would be appreciated. Potholders needed in the kitchen, the patio could use a good power wash, and an additional chair or 2 in the living room to accomodate seating for all guests at once.

The property is in an excellent location. Parking garage only 2 blocks away. We were able to meet some of the neighbors who were all very friendly.

This is a great way to see Savannah, by staying in a lovely old home in the historic district. We walked most places and left the car parked at the public lot 2 blocks from the house. The free bus is also available just 2 blocks away. The park right out front would range from spooky with fog to inviting with sunshine. Would happily stay there again.

As described, my friends and I found it perfect for a girls trip, sans kiddos. Absolutely walkable and so fun that the trolley passes right in front of the house. House itself can use some love and updates (ex: peeling wallpaper in restroom, slow drain in bathroom tub). Some old features are endearing but just not practical (the height of master bathroom sink and mirror that literally required us to use a stool). Still, i’d recommend with these caveats for location and space.

We had a group of 8 friends that stayed here and the space was great. It is a hike up to the 3rd floor where the last 2 slept! The property is located right on Washington Square and we enjoyed spending time there in the evenings. Great location and within walking distance to everything in the historic district.

First and foremost the location is great and communication with host was fine but the issues we had should have been addressed before this house was rented out as this house was just neglected. Fourth bedroom/3rd floor was not usuable due to the temperature. First and second floor stayed around 78 (it was hot while we were there but the AC was not functioning, air leaked outside under porch). Ice maker didn’t work, bathroom sinks, while pretty, are useless in their design and barely had a trickle of water. Back patio photos are not up to date, the actual patio/courtyard is covered in mildew, filthy, rampant weeds and broken bricks/concrete making it unusable. Many holes and cracks in the floor caused a few of us some injuries and all of us splinters. The overall house was just dingy and not taken care of, same with the furnishings (sad saggy couches, broken chairs etc). Certainly you can find much nicer, cleaner and safer homes for less than this one.

Whole family stayed for a week of fun and graduation celebrations. Great location to water taxi to convention center. Five minute walk to Old Pink House restaurant.

Overall, we enjoyed our experience.
Some issues with the bathroom... master bathroom shower did not work, there was no hot water. The knob was not working. In the second bathroom, the sink is hard to access due to positioning of the sink and combaimets. We washed our face in the bathtub.
The heat at night was weird, bedrooms turned very hot and the down stairs was cold.
The icemaker did not work on the frig.
We appreciate the responses to our complaint. One of the window shutters was banging the first night. We contacted the agency and they addressed the issue by the end of the day.
The parking went much better than expected. The car was i front of the house all weekend and cost about $15 for the whole weekend. Awesome.
It's a great location and it was just what we were hoping for.

We love Savannah
We had a great time in Savannah, always do! The accommodations were lovely, historic home. However we were very frustrated to find the oven was out of order, as we are a family of 6 and had planned to cook most of our meals to make the vacation affordable. The staff communicated with us quickly and offered us a toaster oven. Overall we enjoyed the property, and it is a wonderful historic house.

Spacious Home in a great location
This was a great large space for the whole family. Super walkable location. Plenty of 1$ hr parking… $12 day. Old home with plenty of charm and comfortable beds. Tankless water heater and good air conditioning. Lots of TVs you for the teens. Currently broken oven but has a small toaster oven. Any maintenance issues were promptly cared for. Outdoor backyard space was not super friendly but still usable. I would stay here again.

Exactly as advertised, perfect location in the heart of downtown Savannah!
This property was beautiful! Directly across the street for one of Savannahs many squares and a very short walking distance to many of the tourist spots that we were in town for. We did have an issue that was caused by one of our guests and communication with the proper manager was quick and the issue was resolved in a very short amount of time. All in all a very wonderful experience and I would highly recommend Southern Belle Rentals in the future.

Girls Weekend
House was very nice. We were a group of 8 women and there was plenty of space. However, lighting is dim and mirrors are on the floor so it makes it hard to do hair and makeup. The staff was very nice and attentive. Responding to any needs we had right away.

Great location, Good house
My family had a great stay here. Great location, management was quick to respond to any questions, and checking in was very easy. My only complaints were the floors were filthy (don't take your shoes off) and the oven door was taped shut. We cooked most of our meals so this was quite annoying.

Great location for a girls’ trip
House was in a great location and had so much charm. Easy to walk to everything. The upstairs loft bedroom wasn’t the best, but we made do. When we discovered a missing shower head in one of the bathrooms, the management company had it replaced the next day.

Great location to walk the town
Great location is a quiet area. Only birds and the occasional tour bus around the square. Home is well kept older home.

Excellent location.
Could not have had a better location. Right on Washington square with plenty of on street parking or two parking garages nearby. Walk around the corner for River Steet or up two block for a downtown/resturant are.

Roughing it
I would only recommend staying here as a last resort and would not stay here again. If you are looking for old and quaint, this is not it. We were welcomed with plaster falling from the ceiling in large patches onto the pillows, no doorknob or access to a bathroom, T-Rex toilet, shoddy unsafe front/back door locks, the basics not to be found...running around to look for a plug for your blowdryer and a mirror became a bit tedious. For 4 women on a girls trip, the novelty wore off after day one. We arrived late, but, as the trip planner, I spent most of the 2nd day contacting management to repair the bathroom and ceiling...after them telling me it was their intention to fix in the coming weeks,...really? Someone finally came out and he was kind enough to scrape the entire ceiling in one bedroom to stop the plaster from falling on my friend's head while she slept. To repeat, this is not a repeat stay. It is a great location and the house has great potential, they chose not to bring up to par...and for the price they charge they should have.

Great location. Charming old home.
We enjoyed our stay. Easy access to town. All amenities were available. Functional the home was in good operating condition. Could use a mirror in the upstairs hall bathroom and the rheostat switch needs to be replaced with a regular switch in the same bathroom. The switch flickers and the lights sometimes go off. Otherwise fine.

Rock-n-Roll Marathon
House was in perfect location for the race, shopping and restaurants. It was a perfect size for our group of 8. Several common areas that could be used for hanging out, quite conversation or watching tv. Despite the weather on race day, we had an awesome time!!!

Bach Party
This property was perfect, it’s large enough for a group of 8 to have plenty of space and be upstairs and not hear people downstairs. The bedrooms were all very spacious. The fourth bedroom on the third floor is open without a door, and did not seem to have AC so it could get hot at night. But they did have plenty of fans. The location is amazing!

All was great for us (clean, pet friendly, location) except we never were able to access wi-fi. We are considering a return visit.

Girls Trip 2021
Lovely period home facing a beautiful view of Washington Square. Comfy beds, clean linens and plenty of pillows. Bathrooms were very clean and plenty of towels. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes and glasses. It was hot out, so we were happy the A/C unit worked so well.

Great house! Fantastic location!
We had a great stay in Savannah over Easter weekend with our adult children and their friends! This house was perfect for us. We walked everywhere! Very close to River street, shopping, restaurants and bars. But not so close that we had any nighttime noise to disturb our sleep. I would recommend you get a parking pass from the City of Savannah so you don't have to feed the parking meter. Also if you plan to cook much, I would recommend bringing some pots and pans. The house was well stocked with toilet paper, soap, dish liquid and there were plenty of towels. We would definitely stay here again!

Renters beware
We had 8 of us 4 nights & enjoyed each other’s company so made the best of it. Floors were filthy, 1 roll of t.p. in each bathroom (3 total), 4 trash bags with only 1 small waste basket in kitchen & NO outside can. The door knobs came off 2 of the bathroom doors & someone got locked in middle bedroom upstairs for a few minutes. Plumbing issues in kitchen...water all over kitchen floor. We asked neighbor on other side of back fence if music was too loud. She said no, music was fine but asked if we could all smoke out front. Every one smoked so that wasn’t happening since there is nowhere out front for everyone. The back yard bricks are torn up & very dangerous...especially hard with any physical disabilities. The table was a rusty mess that should be thrown out. Location was good...2 blocks from Bay St.

Great Location, Beautiful home.
The home was clean and inviting. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you need. Beds and pillows were comfy! Bathrooms were clean but lacked an extra roll of toilet paper which I am sure was just a mistake. The inside of the house seemed clean...a few left over gatorade bottles under the backroom couch.... The back porch area needs lots of help...rusty table and moldy chairs so we could not use it. We did however have a wonderful stay and would come back here again and just ask for the back to be cleaned so we could enjoy our coffee out there in the mornings.

Charming home and neighborhood
We have stayed in Savannah several times, and this was the 2nd home we've rented for our family vacation. Home was lovely, as pictured/described. Property management staff were friendly and easy to work with. The neighborhood was charming and safe. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will consider renting this property again.

Nice Place, Great Location but needs some TLC
The property location was amazing but the inside needs a little love. The bottom of the stove kept falling off, they tried to fix it with duct tape. The Air Conditioner on the first floor did not work, they did some and fix it the night. One of the bedrooms on the second floor ceiling was peeling and in the middle of the night paint was falling on the guests in that room. The place is nice and is 120 years old but needs a little TLC.

stairs alot
To many stairs, poor bathroom sinks and showers, not clean properly when arrived. Paid parking all day and very bad parking situations. No place to unload bags. back porch and back yard very dirty and bricks are a hazard. All in all not worth going back. Price to way high for this kind of house.

Location is great
Things to be aware of for clarity:
-you have to pay to park each day
- back patio was not clean and unusable
- pool access is in Tybee island 25 minute drive
- house is old - paint coming off walls
- lots of space and perfect for large families
- perfect location for being near river and a lot to do

Pleasantly Surprised
Having never been to Savannah before, we did not realize the central location of the property to the River and Downtown. We love the "old Town' vibe of the house. Parking is more complicated since we had to go through the city's office to buy a pass to park, even at the spaces next to the house.
