Super clean and spacious room overlooking the river. So nice to stay somewhere quiet and relaxing off of the busy main road. Host was so friendly and helpful!
Bathroom was a bit dated but not a major problem.

Really nice hotel and amazing staff. We ended up extending our stay as it’s very well located

Bobbie who was our host made OUTSTANDING breakfast for us and both mornings of our stay. She loves making beautiful and lovingly prepared foods and we over ate in a big way!
We chose this space on the river as apposed to the seafront as we knew it would be set back from the loud hustle and bustle and nice and peaceful (which it was) yet still a short walk into town.
Loved upstairs seating area where we enjoyed evening drinks and our first morning coffees. Bobbie also assisted on two traveler issues we had and went out of her way to resolve - so appreciated especially when one is tight on time and a foreign traveller.

After staying at a few hotels in Sri Lanka, this is definitely our favorite one. The owners are the friendliest people, they went above and beyond to help us with different requests and make our stay feel like home. The room was very clean, spacious, and had everything we needed including strong AC and a safe box. The hotel also has a shared kitchen where we were able to heat up leftovers. Cannot recommend this place enough, we will definitely be coming back!
Loved everything!

away from the rat race, but an easy walk to beach, 10 mins from town. Nice staff, very helpful. simple but tidy rooms.
The mosquitoes outside! but the place is next to a river, so hard to avoid.

Good location, in quiet and green part of Weligama. We have a room without AC, only fan and it was surprisingly cool. Very nice and quiet shared space. Breakfast was ok.

The place is nice and comfortable in a quiet area by the river, the room is clean and convenient, with a fridge and safe box. Location is also good, just 5-10 minutes walk from the beach with many surfing schools and from the area near Marriott hotel with the pool and several restaurants - great to spend time during the evening. Breakfasts were good and every day different. Definitely recommended.
There are often electricity cuts all around Sri Lanka, also in this area, so I recommend to have a light and power bank when you travel there.

breakfast in the morning is awesome, huge variety of local food. location is also very nice in front of the lake, therefore very calm and away from the crowd. very friendly staff.

tucked back along the riverside but still close to town, quieter than town which was nice. you can see monkeys and other wildlife
“Bubbi” the main gal was INCREDIBLE. She was so willing to help and anticipated needs. it was raining really hard one night and she met us outside with an umbrella and escorted us back to our room.

The hotel is located on the river and it is very quiet which can be a good thing but for us it was a bit too far away from the beach as we wanted to surf and go to the beach everyday. Therefore, we spent a lot of time in the tuk tuk but it costs only 500 lkr to the beach so its okay. A little bit disappointing was that the manager told us that the whale watch tours cost 50$ and that there is no possibility to negotiate as the price is set by the government. However, on the beach we met people who negotiated and paid only half the money. So I was a bit angry because normally the managers of a hotel should give good advice.
Last but not least, it was a nice hotel with beautiful rooms.
That the manager is not very well informed and everything she organizes costs approx 50% more as you would negotiate on the streets.
A little bit too far away from the beach.
No restaurant in the evening.

Very quiet neighborhood. Tasty and plentiful breakfast. Cleanliness.
Hosts are very nice and friendly - you’ll definitely feel yourself at home.
everything was perfect. Just keep in mind that this is a tropics so don’t forget the mosquito spray if you want to chill outside the room

We came back for the second time to have some good rest. This has been our fave place during our one month trip through Sri Lanka. It’s centrally located in a quiet street off the busy track & only a short walk to the beach. The rooms are clean & quiet. And the breakfast is excellent.

Tinara River Resort is beautifully situated in a quiet spot on the river, providing peace and quiet only a short walk from the action on the beach. Nicely designed, the property and your hosts are full of warm Sri Lankan charm and truly want you to enjoy your stay to the fullest.

The room was breezy and spotless. We loved the location, a little outside the busy road. So the place was very quiet. Except for the birds and monkeys making noise. We booked an extra night cuz we needed the sleep. The breakfast was great. Fresh juice. Some continental options and some Sri Lankan dishes every day.
We could’ve used a room clean. It’s something you need to ask for. Not really any problems in this place at all!

Lovely place in the midst of the forest near the river.
Great breakfast - especially the coconut pancake.

Amazing place. The hotel is simply that you need. The location is great. No real noise (except peacocks). The breakfast was overwhelming. The staff is great. Everything in room is attending. Utterly recommend.

+extraordinary good and friendly service! Arranged everything without any problems for more than fair prices! +very large and good breakfast +well located at the river (quietly and only 5 minutes to the beach) +Late checkout was no problem +extremely clean room and very well maintained garden Thank you for such wonderful last days in Sri Lanka! It was perfect and we enjoyed it a lot.

The service! This hotel was wonderfully run. Always a smile. Always happy to help. Thank you for making our stay so comfortable!
Breakfast. It was one of the best of all in Sri Lanka. You get eggs, a local dish (we loved the coconut rice and onions) and loads of bread! It's perfect for filling up before surfs or beach days.
The room was really nice. The bed comfy, the view of the river was pretty, and the air con worked super well.
The areas was also perfect. We walked around Weligama and were SO glad we chose to stay here. You get peace and quiet but are still within walking distance to all restaurants and the main beach. To surf, you can hop in a tuk tuk to get to Coconuts Beach where there's a decent right-hand reef. Weligama Beach is also nice but more for beginners.
Overall we'd totally recommend this hotel!
Only a few picky things:
The fridge in our room smelt a little of mold and could do with a clean. Only an issue when we opened the door.
The shower could easily be made into a partitioned shower. Those wet rooms are just so annoying!
