Dinner and breakfast were superb. The overall cleanliness and quality of furniture, fixtures, fittings and materials was very high and justified the price. The staff were great; couldn't be more helpful. Loved the walk-in shower. Loved the air conditioning unit in the cupboard (didn't need it but good it's there).
Minor niggle, entrance to car park not obvious if your first arrival is in the dark. No dog friendly room.

Good breakfast - cooked to my specifications (crispy bacon and well done scrambled eggs). Helpful and friendly staff.
Looked onto main road would have been nice to be able to open the curtains and still have privacy in the morning.

A lovely, clean and comfortable hotel.

In a very quiet location in the countryside
Booked luxury double room which was supposedly to have a terrace and garden view along with dvd player in the room. None of these were apparent as room was upstairs. As checking in is only from 3pm they don’t serve food after 2pm which isn’t very good for a 5 star rated hotel

The host and hostess and staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel occupied a good location in the village. The food in the restaurant was excellent, but it was closed on two of our six nights owing to staff shortages.
The room was rather cramped for two.

Lovely location. Lunch was excellent, a varied menu and beautifully presented plates and it tasted wonderful.

Breakfasts comprised fresh fruits and choice of yoghurts. The cooked breakfast in addition was an excellent menu and served quickly and thus always hot and with good helpings. The evening meals were again from a wide choice menu with some changes during the week. No need to dine out as this was cooking of a high and consistant standard. Staff were very welcoming and a credit to their hands-on proprietors. Nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel displays much original artwork which is all available for sale; variety of techniques both as to painting and small/medium bronzes. All adds to a welcoming ambience,
Whilst there is lots of outdoor seating either on the lawn or under an extensive marquee (both to the rear) the inside lounge seating area is rather on the small side. If the weather had been wet might have been more of an issue but did not materially affect our stay.

The breakfast outshone last nights evening meal.
A variety of fruits and cereal attractively laid out to help yourself. The freshly cooked English breakfast arrived quick and was tasty as did the coffee. Very good
We had an evening meal, which was very disappointing.

Excellent food. Friendly staff. Easy drive to Sherborne, a great place to visit. Comfortable bed. Nice bar area.
We would stay again, but avoiding rooms over the kitchen which has a noisy extractor. There were also some heating and hot water issues but overall we enjoyed our stay.

Doesn't appear in newspaper articles about wonderful short-break experiences, but it should do: it's a great hotel in one of the most beautiful rural locations in the West Country.

The atmosphere and welcoming of the place was excellent we look forward to returning. The staff are friendly interested and helpful.
The bedroom was really warm

Breakfast was lovely - table service rather than a buffet breakfast which seems much more fitting in the current times! Really lovely and incredibly attentive staff.

Beautiful building and pretty location but not in Sherborne as we expected
Mattress needed replacing. Restaurant disappointing

Good covered and heated area outside for eating. Food was very good, prompt service, excellent cooked breakfast options, a little more choice of cold options would have been even better.
Room was well appointed and good for an overnight stop.
Location just outside Sherborne was excellent. Very helpful local walks maps were extremely helpful. Village shop next door also very useful, all the basics with additional less familiar brands.
