The bed was very clean and comfortable.
The garden... very nice place to enjoy nature.

The host was very nice and I arranged for a pickup and drop off at the airport with him. Quiet and good value. Would recommend!
4.1
Close to the airport

I was surprised at how nice the layout was, make your own coffee, secure, thoughtful details. The bed was comfy and the communication excellent. Owner lives nearby. Massage appts available onsite. This is a great place if looking for a very clean, reasonable overnight place to stay while catching a plane. Room was small but inviting, I didn't need more. Good restaurants nearby, etc. Staff very helpful.I liked the artwork!
The pillows were clean, but small. Would have preferred standard pillows. But not a problem at all

I cannot recommend this hostel. The only thing that worked was the pick up from the airport. The rest didn’t work at all. I was refused a transfer back to the airport - although one of the main reasons why I have booked this hostel was that they claim to offer 24/7 airport transfers (both ways). I was just referred to Uber where it was not clear if a prebooked pickup at 03.45 in the night will work out in such a small village like Alajuela. The lady who picked me up knew that I don’t speak Spanish and that hailing a taxi in the middle of the night could be dangerous…
I was actually completely left alone during my stay, no service at all.
The facilities were more than pure - There was not even a hair dryer available to dry my wet clothes and wet hair during the low temperatures in the evening. The only answer to my request was „It is not possible“. Don’t get fooled by the other ratings about the nice owner - there is literally nobody to support you when the daughter is „taking over“ the customer contact…
In addition, there were bo coffee or tea cups available - I had to use water glasses (which is bot the most convenient way to drink a hot beverage in the morning).
4.1
the location was good
coffee machine and coffee provided
nicely decorated
pretty garden and space to eat
didn’t realise it was more of a house share
left in dark street waiting for owner to arrive - single woman with teen daughter - even though I have an exact time of arrival
didn’t feel comfortable here so cancelled a later stay. would be better if you rented the whole place.
bed was like sleeping on concrete and pillows were awful

Nice hostel in the center of Alajuela. Close to the airport.
The hostel feels quite empty.

Good location, nice relaxing area.

Casa Azul felt safe, was clean, and had everything we needed, which admittedly wasn't much. It is conveniently located in Alajuela practically around the corner from Jalapenos, a fantastic restaurant and not far from the Mercado and plenty of other shopping, dining, and entertainment.
The only issue we had is that the hotel was empty that night. We love to meet people and instead we had a quiet last evening in Costa Rica before flying home to the US.
4.1
Very clean, nice rooms.
Got a smaller room as booked, street very loud, only one small bath room for 4 rooms, surrounded by high walls and feels a bit like in prison - but it is very often the case in Costa Rica, Alajuela is very americanized (many overweight cars and fast food restaurants)
4.1
The location and the owner are very reactive
4.1
Location very handy to airport. Foyer area good location for large amounts of luggage, no stairs to carry bags up (if using foyer). Handy store next door with awake owner who is very helpful.

It was very quiet.

Cozy courtyard. Pricing is reasonable. Pretty clean overall and met some nice people co-staying in the morning!
Bed isn't super comfy. Worst part was stuck outside waiting for the team to come unlock even though I had given an exact arrival time.

no breakfast-price charged was higher than the advertised price traffic noise was LOUD-coffee service had no creamer-other hotels in the area offer better service and amenities for less money
4.1
Had everything I needed for a quick stay. Comfy bed, common area for tea and coffee, wifi,.. and very close to the airport.
The water in my room didn’t work.
4.1
Location was great, close to airport and Alajuela is easy to get around. Good space to hang out outside that isn't noisy to the guest rooms.

Friendly owner, spotless cleaning.
Very bad signing. When it's dark you can stand right in front of the place without seing the hotel sign.
Wifi didn't work.
