Gather with family and friends at the beautiful Rhododendron Retreat, where you'll have a large property that offers privacy, gorgeous woodland views, and plenty of sunshine and open sky for summer barbecues. Enjoy a recently remodeled kitchen with double ovens and stainless steel appliances, as well as a cozy wood-burning stove to curl up to in one of the main living areas. There is a pellet stove in the second living area and a new ductless mini-split for instant warmth in the winter or cooling in the summer months. Complimentary wood and pellets are provided with each stay.
Outside, the kids can spend hours playing in the backyard as the grown-ups enjoy time together on the wraparound deck. Rhododendron Retreat is a place to make unforgettable vacation memories year after year.
The quiet town of Rhododendron is less than a mile from the house. Here at the gateway to Mt. Hood, you can grab a bite to eat, stock up on groceries, and catch the Mt. Hood Express bus to Government Camp and Timberline. Numerous hiking trails and the banks of the Zigzag River are within walking distance, offering plenty to explore all year round. During the snowy winter months, you can hit the slopes of Mt. Hood at Mt. Hood Skibowl, eight miles east, Timberline Lodge, 15 miles east, or Mt. Hood Meadows, 20 miles away.

The proximity of the property to our biking activities was great. We had not expected how easy it would be to avoid the highway via bicycle for rides out to Sandy Ridge and up to Lolo pass. It was also great that the Timberline to town trail drops out right in Rhododendron. Major bonus.
Beds were comfortable and the property was spacious and private.
The only negatives were that it is close to the highway, but most of our group could pretend that we were just hearing the breeze. What we couldn’t ignore was the rooster that lives next door that has seemingly no idea when the sun is actually coming up. This is no fault of the property owner, but if I were them, I would probably offer to kindly “find the rooster a new home”

There was plenty of space to sleep and accommodate meals for my family. The house and yard were clean and ready for us to relax. There were very clear instructions for heating and use of the house entertainment system, much appreciated.

A wonderful weekend getaway.
A wonderful location for my weekend full of board games with friends. The space heaters and fireplace work well for keeping the space warm.

Weekends are for the boys
House was beautiful, we fit comfortably all 13 of us. Loved that we were so close to snow to go snowboarding.

I am sure we would have loved our trip if we were able to go. I sent a message to ask about changing our dates and never received a reply. We had to change the main person on the listing to our adult son because we got covid. Then they weren't able to go either because we were experiencing flooding and landslides with road closures. I understand the answer was likely no, but someone could have at least responded to my message.

Great house, circuit breakers were a pain
The house was fantastic, but the circuit breakers were a pain. When we got there, the upstairs lights were off, but easily fixed with the panel. The upstairs bathroom lights went off a day in and we could never get them back on despite following directions. Unlike VRBO, you can’t contact the owner to get advice or something fixed...frustrating!

Woodland retreat
Great house in a beautiful setting. Lots of room, huge kitchen with everything you need, very clean and comfortable for our family gathering. Was impressed with the level of service and support from VACASA. They were quick to reply to any questions or concerns we had. Would use them again.

The most magical place!
We had such a wonderful stay! Clean, perfect for a family gathering.

Highway sound pollution and neighbor junkyards
The photos and description conveniently hide that you can see and hear the din of the deafening highway just yards away through the trees. They conveniently picked a moment when you can’t actually see cars going by through the trees to take the “woodsy” shots. Oh and some of the neighbors’ yards are not a pleasant view - basically junkyards from two angles. Other than that, the house and property itself are very nice. But calling it a “retreat” is far fetched if you plan to spend time enjoying any of the outside areas of the property. Hopefully this review is helpful for folks who prioritize peace and quiet when booking a vacation rental.

My friends and I absolutely loved staying here. Easy check-in and the house was sparkling clean. Our 3 dogs loved having the land to run around on too. 10/10 would recommend and would book again in the future.

Spacious Place in Beautiful Location
The Rhododendron Retreat was very large, clean, well-furnished. and modern. The yard and patio setting was gorgeous and well-maintained. The almost new BBQ worked perfectly. The only concern was a significant water leak under the right kitchen sink with a large pan under it that we did not discover until our last day. The pan had just begun overflowing. We emptied the water and repacked the pan. We left a note for the manager as we were about to leave.

Wonderful retreat
We had such a wonderful time at the Rhododendron retreat. The yard is fanatastic! Lots of room, big kitchen. Just a fun family home that we truly enjoyed and hope to come back to. The only reason we didn't give it a 5 is the kitchen sink has a bad drainage problem.

Great house
We rented this house last minute to try and catch a snow storm at Mt Hood Meadows. There was only 3 of us and we didn’t realize how big the house was. The house is managed by vacasa. It was my first house rental with that app. It’s very convenient and easy. All the info you need is there. The house was clean and everything was in order for our arrival. There is also a binder printed out with detailed instructions for the house. I would definitely recommend this house for larger groups.

good for large group
Nice property but cannot use hot tub. Jets in master tub did not work. Had to call management twice about leak in middle shower. Otherwise enjoyed our stay. Plenty of room for whole family. Good location.

Cozy & Warm
The fireplace and space made this retreat feel lovely. We spent Thanksgiving and were easily able to accommodate people in the living space. It is fairly unique, but that adds charm and a quirkiness factor.
