The place is nice and our family enjoyed our stay. There were 11 of us, ages 60-73, siblings & spouses and a nephew 47. All the bedrooms were perfect for us. A lot of the cookware needs replaced, teflon worn off and just ugly. We like to cook and we do.
The cleaning crew missed a lot of opportunities to make our stay more enjoyable. We had to do a lot of cleaning when we got there and that is not what we came to do. I reached out to managers & they did send a representative out to fix the internet, and they offered to send cleaning crew or cleaning supplies. We had already cleaned, washed dirty sheets etc. So there was no need for that. Being as old as we are we just do it.
After all that, we enjoyed our stay. We come every year to the Grandfater Mountain Highland Games. We are Clan Matheson!
If this place can get a better cleaning crew & get new cookware, we would consider this place for next year.

Home in a beautiful location. Rooms clean and decorated nicely. Spacious for party of 14. Dishes adequate; however, most of the kitchen’s cookware and accessories needs replaced -old pans with a lot of Teflon worn off. Electric stove difficult to use without burning food
(unfortunately I have exact same one at home and I am replacing) Nice washer, dryer, tv’s pool table, and hot tub.

The property has everything very well setup and in very good working conditions. The location is perfect for a private getaway and fall would be beautiful right from the large decks in both the floors.

The house was perfect for our large family. Loved the hot tub and pool table. Enjoyed seeing wildlife in the backyard: bear, deer and skunks. Definitely need a car capable of navigating the steep and winding roads. The hiking trails and nearby recreational center were great.

We had a fabulous time. The house was so welcoming and accommodating for all of us. The privacy was great but still close to food and entertainment. We will definitely consider this home for our next family vaca.
Only down side was the bigger beds were not very comfy. Too firm!!

We had 4 generations of our family on this trip and everyone had there own space and felt comfortable. The home is in a great location. Very private but about 10 minute drive to the ski resort and another 10 to restaurants. The cabin is very well equipped and we had a great time!

Spacious and clean property
House was large and well kept off a gravel road in a good area of Beech Mtn. Beds were comfortable, kitchen was large and easy to cook for a group, easy access to multiple trails/amenities around the Mtn. Property managers mentioned that the parking lot can only fit 4 cars but it could easily fit 6 reasonably sized cars (Rav4, Camry, etc). Fridge drinking water is barely a trickle but we drank tap water and aren't dead yet. Would recommend.

Great time… not great customer service
So to start off …. User error fault but when we booked there was literally two days we could make changes. So once we realized we booked the wrong dates we were unable to move them to the correct weekdays. Considering with had my grandmother which was wheelchair bound me had to drive 2 hours home for dialysis twice because the rental couldn’t give us another rental for the regular week. When we arriaved there was dirty/ stained towels. And multiple places with dog feces. It was like the cleaners just left it there and cleaned everything else . Communication was fast with the rental lace but wasn’t up to par on expected responses. Our time was great spent with family but the home wasn’t the greatest on arrival.

Great home for the family!
Fantastic experience! Beautiful home, beautiful views. The house was everything we needed. Comfortable beds, plenty of space, well-stocked kitchen, toys and books for the kids, games for the adults - it was all great. The back decks are wonderful for early morning quiet times and late afternoon games. The three floors with bedrooms on each fit our family perfectly.

We enjoyed our stay here and got to breathe the mountain air for a few days. The house was nice , warm and cozy.

Disappointing
We were not able to use shower upstairs in fear that ceiling in master bathroom would collapse due to a massive water leak.
Barbecue did not have gas. I should of checked it for gas before I spent 15 minutes cleaning it. They took care of it the next day but I couldn’t barbecue the meal as I had planned.
A smoke alarm kept ringing in the main level because battery was low.
I had to clean some bathrooms and the kitchen. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher when I checked in. The kitchen is very unorganized, the blinds have a film of greasy dust, I just rolled them up.
Baseboards are dirty you can see an inch of accumulated dust in some spots.
I was just disappointed with the overall condition of the house.
The view is lovely, plenty of space for family and friends to enjoy.

Great Family Retreat Home
We took our family from ages 3-66 years. Enjoyed our time in this home. Plenty of space for teens and adults. Even though it rained all weekend we had a wonderful time. Took lots of board games, etc. The views are beautiful and lots of deer!

Nice Beech Getaway
This house was very accommodating for everything we needed for a large group of 14. The rooms were very pleasant and the kitchen met our needs. The only issue was that there were some plumbing mishaps with the bottom floor toilet. The owners had both maintenance and a plumber come out in the time we stayed there and it still would not work. The owners were very quick to respond and I am sure they will have it fixed by the next trip for others.
If you don’t have 4 wheel drive, it can be quite difficult to access. There is a route that take you more off paved roads and it can be difficult to navigate (it had just snowed nearly 7” the night we arrived).
Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed our stay. Large parties, this is the place to go.

Great Choice
The cabin is very spacious and cozy. Even though it does not have he typical cabin look, the decoration, the view and the outdoors make you really feel out on the mountains and connected to nature. Our party had adults, young adults, teenagers and kids and the house was very comfortable and had plenty of entertainment for everyone. The only reason I didn't give the max score was because of the maintenance of the kitchen cabinets and drawers that is complete with almost everything you will need, but it was very disorganized and not well kept. Also, the thermostat from the upper floor is really hard to keep in the right temperature since it does not show the degrees, but just the level of comfort. It is hard to adjust.

Big disappointment!!
Was very disappointed with the cleanliness of this place. You Would think bc of covid they would be on top of keeping the place clean. Our bedding was dirty. You can tell they did not changed the bedding after the last guest. I found hairs on the sheets and half eaten walnuts once I pulled the covers off. There was dust in every corner of the room. My friend found a dirty tissue on one corner of her bed. We called the manager and they sent someone out. We thought we would come home to a clean mopped house. Not the case... they only changed the sheets and I think only mopped one floor. The bottom floor was still dirty. You would think they would at least sweep the floors to make it look some what clean. Not the case!! We also thought they would give us new comforters and blankets Bc we had stripped the bed to make sure everything was not being reused. We came Home to all of our old comforter and blankets still piled up in the laundry room. Never have I had to do so much laundry while on vacation before just so I can have a clean bed to sleep on. Very disappointed with this place. WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN!!

Red Bear Run
I booked this place for a three-day weekend and was disappointed by our experience here. I would recommend to use Google maps if you think about renting this place. There were dirty dishes, missing batteries from the controllers for the TVs, also broken pieces of plastic hidden underneath the tv. You really will need to bring your own supplies for everything. While making dinner one night the smoke alarm went off and we decided to open a window to let out any smoke from the kitchen and opening a door. That caused the actual alarm to go off for the house. We made multiple calls to the office to try to get the code. After about 15 minutes of calling the alarm turned off itself and they gave us two codes and told us to “try these if it happens again.”

Great house, gorgeous view, way up on a mountain
The house was absolutely lovely. It was spacious enough for 2 large families to have plenty of room. The ping pong table was a bit hit. More balls should be provided. If you are visiting, it can't hurt to bring a few of your own. The house is way up on a mountain, which meant that most of us did not have cellphone service, until we connected through wifi. It was very peaceful not to have all those calls! If you want a peaceful vacation away from humanity, this is the perfect place. Large balconies with a fabulous view are perfect for sitting and chatting, or just being by yourself. The only downside was that if you want to go anywhere, it takes 1/2 hour of twisty mountain driving just to get to the main road! Also, you have the house and the balconies, and that's all. There is nowhere to roller blade or play ball. The backyard looks like it is not meant to be accessible, and in front, there is a gravel rectangle to park your cars (they say 4) about 15 feet deep, and then you are on the gravel road. All in all, I would highly recommend if you plan on spending most of your time in the house. One more thing, there was TV, but not really much to see on them. I guess cable doesn't work in the mountains...

Our family had a wonderful weekend.. My only complaint is the shower in the master bathroom the water does not get hot. We had to go to another bathroom to shower which I thought was an inconvenience.
Overall the Cabin was great!! Peace and Serenity
Would definitely recommend!!

Red Bear Run
We found this cabin almost by accident online and are so glad we did. It was a very relaxing place to come home to each evening after spending seven summer days hiking, swimming and taking in all that Beech Mountain and the area has to offer. It is very well equipped in the kitchen and the furniture is new, modern and comfortable. It is near the Beech Mountain Club and is reasonably close to restaurants and activities with maybe a twenty minute drive into Banner Elk and easy access to Boone and Blowing Rock. At 3600 feet high, mornings and evenings were cool and it was pleasant to sit outside while kids watched TV downstairs in the tv room/den. The summer view is very nice but when the trees lose their leaves, it likely is even better.
We have two things on our wishlist for the cabin—some outdoor seating a little more comfortable than the chairs for the outdoor table and a hairdryer. Other than that, we love the place and would be more than happy to come back.
Carolina Cabin Rentals has impeccable customer service and their communication was timely, proactive and informative. We are already looking at 2021 for a return trip.

Peaceful Bliss
Our stay at Red Bear Run was perfect for our family. Lots of room for everyone to spread out! Comfy beds. Many chances to see and experience wild life- bears, birds, deer, etc.. Our favorite feature was the location away from everyone, but surrounded by great trails which were all walking distance, as well as the Buckeye Rec Center. The Falls Trail at Buckeye is the best!! Thanks for a great time!!
