My family (8 of us) stayed here for a week & everything was great. The house was clean & there was plenty of room for all of us. Not only space to gather together, but space to separate as well.
There are lots of amenities and plenty of provided appliances & kitchenware to be able to cook meals all week, including gas & charcoal grills on the porch.
The place is very private with a view of some woods & a pond. There is a big back porch with lots of chairs plus a large hammock in the trees in the back to chill in & enjoy the beautiful & peaceful scenery from, which was our favorite part. The nearby pond is inaccessible & not swimmable or fishable but does bring in lots of wildlife to watch. We saw & heard a pair of eagles flying around & perching in the trees near the pond all week. Lots of other birds & wildlife too including a couple deer who visited early in the morning. There's even a set of binoculars to help take in the wild life.
There is a large covered pavillion in the back as well with tables & chairs and a fire pit for outdoor entertaining. Plenty of fallen trees and tree branches to collect to build a fire. There is also enough open green space in back to play outdoor games. There's even a storage chest with some yard games, balls, & a volleyball net. The basement has a foosball table & is stocked with lots of board games & books.
All in all we enjoyed every bit of the house and property & would definitely rent here again.

My family and I had a wonderful week staying at Hemlock Cottage. The house was clean and spacious, beds were comfy, and we had everything we needed. Loved the peaceful, serene setting, spent every morning and evening sitting on the back porch enjoying the lake and wildlife. Highly recommend!!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house had everything you need. Close enough to visit Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Would highly recommend to anyone.

We were in town for a softball tournament and this beat a hotel by far. So much room, great location. Have the “up north” feel. We enjoyed it and would highly recommend.

Such a cozy location with a beautiful view! A perfect place for a girls weekend to have a cozy fire and coffee on the porch in the morning. Theresa was very helpful with accommodations and easy to reach out to if needed. Would highly recommend!

We had an amazing time here! It was close (20 minutes) to Traverse City, the sand dunes, and anywhere else we wanted to go. The plaxe was beyond clean - probably the cleanest place we've ever stayed at. Great spot, will stay again!

We stayed at Hemlock Cottage for our annual family vacation. It suited our family perfectly. The different living spaces were great. It was a peaceful location in the woods and not too far from anything we wanted to do.

Loved this property! Would highly recommend.
Beautiful setting.
Only drawback is no dishwasher but would stay there again.

Plenty of room for our family of 7 - everyone could have their own space when they wanted, a big deal with older kids.
And that pond out back was a winner for peaceful morning vibes with a cup of coffee and for the younger ones to muck about around during the day.
The owners are super friendly and genuine, making sure we were sorted and comfortable.
There’s a fire pit that we took advantage of a few nights, a real treat to sit around with the stars up above.
The internet is a bit slow and phone service is touch and go, but it was nice to kind of force a bit of a digital detox on the teens and ourselves.
We’re booking it for next summer too.

We enjoyed exploring Up North and this property was part of that pleasure. We used this location as a central spot to see everything from Petoskey to Frankfort. The setting is quiet and peaceful with beautiful views.
The pictures in listing are accurate, however they don’t impart the feeling of home and comfort that we felt walking inside. It has areas to gather or separate as need be. There is no dishwasher, but some of us washed up while others built a bonfire (plenty of wood to be found onsite). The unit is well stocked (except for tissues), clean. Owners were easy to communicate with.
We’d be happy to stay again.

one of the best rentals we've had. Highly recommend.

This secluded property gave us a great place to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with our family. The property was great and provided a convenient starting point for our visit to the various "up north" sites. Good visit.

The Hemlock Cottage was the perfect spot for our family of 9 to stay. We were about 15 minutes from downtown Traverse City, 20 minutes from the sand dunes and Glen Arbor. The house was stocked with the essentials needed and more. It was clean and new. We had plenty of room and enjoyed the downstairs game room and lounge area. The outdoor area is perfectly equipped with a few yard games and fire pit. The house is quiet and secluded. It would be a great place for a longer-term stay as well. We wished we could have stayed longer.
Definitely would stay here again!

We had 5 adults, our 6th friend joined us one night and had plenty of room for cooking, dining, and sleeping all under one roof. The backyard view is ANAZING! Each one of us said “we can’t wait to have our coffee here in the AM”. So peaceful with beautiful wildlife. Close to nearby towns and beaches but tucked away for the perfect quiet retreat. Also, very quick responses form the host for anything. Thank you!

We had absolute wonderful experience staying here! The owners are very easy to communicate and work with. One thing I loved was the ease of check in and check out! Hemlock has one of the easiest and best check out process I have ever dealt with!
Thank You

We had an absolute wonderful stay here for Memorial weekend. There was plenty of space for the 8 people staying at the house as we all had our own rooms and space for privacy. Having a property where we could play yard games and be outside a lot is always a plus for us and this property did not disappoint in that regard! Watching the birds, especially the nesting cranes, in the mornings and afternoons was a delight and would certainly stay again just to have a cup of coffee off that back porch again! Teresa was a wonderful host and answered any questions we had immediately, and her husband showed up when we had problems with the grill. Wonderful hosts and beautiful place to get away for the weekend!

This was our second time staying at the Hemlock Cottage, and we enjoyed it just as much this time as we did last time. It's a beautiful, peaceful property and the cottage is lovely. It's close enough to Traverse City to be convenient for activities, but far enough away to be off the beaten path. It's a wonderful place and we highly recommend it!

This is our second time staying at Craig and Theresa's properties and will be returning next year! The home is spotless, easy for the entire family to fit (we have 3 adult children and 2 have S.O.) and it is close to everything we like to do. I cannot recommend Hemlock Property enough!

We went up to Traverse Area to get in some snow time. Coming from FLA we don’t see much snow! ;). The house was awesome. The fire pit and sleds were a wonderful touch. The kids had a blast playing the games downstairs. This house is perfect for a few families to share. Everyone has their own space. Highly recommend.

The lodge offered a beautiful setting for a family gathering that partnered well with those that lived in TC.

The house was really nice and the view out the living room window was gorgeous with the fall color. The only drawback of this house is the rutted road to get there.

What a fantastic cottage right on a lake with gorgeous views of the lake, the riot of colors on the trees at the back and the woods ! Squeaky clean, beautifully decorated, ample amenities and a full kitchen 2 Bedrooms and 2 full Bathrooms on the main floor It has a fully finished basement with a BR and a bathroom making it very comfortable for 7-8 people We enjoyed the solitude and serenity of the place sitting on a nice wide porch outside Easy drive to traverse city and other places of interest would love to go back year after year !

We enjoyed our fall weekend stay at this lovely, clean home, just a few miles outside of Lake Ann. Beds were comfortable, plenty of seating areas and TVs to watch weekend football. Kitchen is well equipped. The view from the house is great with the living room, 3 season porch and a bedroom looking out over a pretty little lake. We will be back!

Sparkling clean, warm and welcoming property.
We were in the area for our son's wedding and could not have chosen a better location and property.
Deer, birds and woodland creatures abound.
We rented their other property as well and ditto on our experience. Experience was great and we truly appreciate you sharing your beautiful home with us.

Our family of 10 (including 4 children, ages 4-8) stayed comfortably in this beautiful home nestled in the woods. We loved all of the space indoors and outdoors. The property was peaceful with the woods and nearby pond. The amenities were plentiful. The home’s location was a 20 minute drive to all of the area attractions (hiking, beaches, Traverse City). At the end of the week the children told us they wanted to stay for the remainder of the summer! We were able to create wonderful family memories!

We waited too long to book this trip, then struggled to find an affordable rental that would accommodate our entire family (six adult children plus six small grandchildren). This cottage was perfect! It’s not huge, but is very smartly designed with multiple gathering spaces inside and out. We loved the covered porch for morning coffee, and we cooked out on the patio and ate in the pavilion. The kitchen accommodated cooking for a dozen people and gave the adults room to play cards and board games in the evenings. We enjoyed the nearby town of Lake Ann and spent several hours at the playground, brewery (live music on Tuesday nights), and coffee shop, but also loved that the Dunes and Traverse City were only 20 min away. This was a hidden gem, and a bargain compared to most other rentals that sleep 12! The setting was very private and scenic, and safe for small children to explore. Loved it!

The house was very clean and a great house for a couple of families to stay. Plenty of living space with three separate living areas for different groups to hang out in. Back porch has a great view and is very quiet to relax. We would definitely stay again!!

The pictures on the Vrbo site don't do this place justice. The view from the long back porch onto the pond and woods is wonderful (the same view is had from the screened-in porch, the picture window in the living room, and the picnic area by the firepit). The house is separated from the road by a patch of trees, so there is lots of privacy and it's very quiet. The house itself is very cozy and clean. Highly recommend!
