About this house rental
You won’t find a better location for peacefulness, family-friendly lake access, hiking and cycling, and proximity to Petoskey, Mackinaw and the upper peninsula. The location is so peaceful and quiet yet so close to everything Northern Michigan has to offer. The cottage rental includes spectacular sunsets, TrueStream fiber internet, dedicated fire pit, lawn games, kayaks/SUPs and much more
Sunset Shore (one of three properties available to rent on site) is a 1 bedroom Cottage that sits at the waters edge at the end of a wooded trail. It soaks in the breeze off Lake Paradise and rests in peace next to the quiet Stony Point Nature Preserve. This Preserve is a nature lovers paradise with a trail system that helps you hike it all.
A stone's throw lands you in the Carp Lake Township Park - a historic park nestled in the forest. Its tiny, but the swing set by the water is all you need to enjoy the serenity.
Moving closer to the cottage you'll find the dock with lots of water crafts to explore the lake with. Bring a pole, fish off the dock, or take a kayak out for a time you'll never forget.
Now inside the cottage, you'll meet the comfort of white-knotty pine everywhere. Pine adds a rustic and cozy ambience that can't be beat while reading by the stone fireplace. Vintage and homemade decorations add a dash of local charm.
Guests love that they feel like they're camping here without having to "rough it". You'll find a kitchen with modern appliances making homemade meals a pleasure. An updated bathroom with elegant tile and modern fixtures. Even a king size bed so you'll never feel cramped while sleeping.
There's no need to go to the park when you can live on one. Our guests always feel right at home here.
Please note we have two other cottages available on the property. Please see VRBO # 2131656 (sleeps up to 4) and 2131668 (sleeps up to 8).

Lake Paradise has terrific fishing. You'll find Walleye (stocked), Bass, Perch, Pike, and Bluegill. The lake bottom has a gradual slope and is ideal for small children to swim.
Things to do and places to go:
-Take a ferry boat to historic Mackinac Island. Make sure to buy plenty of delicious fudge!
-Pack a picnic lunch and spend time on the miles of beach of Wilderness State Park.
-Cycle on miles of dedicated bike paths in region (Petoskey-Mackinaw bike path is a quick ride from house)
-Spend the day shopping and/or have lunch in Harbor Springs and Petoskey.
-A short drive across the famous Mackinaw Bridge allows you to see the beauty of the Upper Peninsula
-Spend an afternoon golfing or play a game of tennis in the village close by.
-Relax at the cottage with a good book while the others fish or swim.
-The area has many country/lakeside dining spots.
-At the end of the day, enjoy breathtaking sunsets from your own sun room. Later, roast marshmallows over the bonfire at the lake's edge.
* A special note to our early spring and late fall guests. It's cold during the shoulder months so please prepare. Our cottages are cute, but they're not equipped with central heating and cooling. You'll enjoy the cozy fireplace and we have a small electric heater but that's it. It's chilly so bring a sweater, a warm blanket, and enjoy the fall colors!
**The cottage shares the dock with 2 other cottages. Great location for extended family reunions.

Loved the lake side location and privacy. Had one very minor issue to communicate with the property manager and she responded quickly and handled the situation. We would love to stay again sometime.

We had a wonderful stay at this very cute, clean cabin. Everything in the cabin worked very well and as expected. The bed was comfy, the shower was great, and we enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. We especially appreciated the provided firewood, as it was a bit chilly outside.

Very comfortable cabin, clean and quiet. We were lucky with the perfect weather that generated beautiful sunsets. The gently lapping water provided the audio for ultimate relaxation.

The cabin was exceptionally clean and looks exactly like the photos. They had lawn games in the front yard and you’re right on the lake off the backyard. The host was informative on where to go and helpful when asking questions about the cabin. They mailed my child’s hat back to us without me realizing I left it behind. It was the perfect location to get the up north feeling yet not far from Mackinaw city and the island. Absolutely recommend and will be staying again!

This cottage was a little slice of heaven. The house had everything you needed to make a stay at the lake prefect. The view from thee cottage of the lake was beautiful. The owner and the care taker were very helpful and responsive. If we come back into the area we will stay again!

The cottage is recently renovated and is beautiful and spacious. The mattress was very comfortable. The cottage features a lovely sun porch which faces Paradise Lake and we spent a great deal of time there. It is a short drive to Mackinaw City and Wilderness State Park. Our stay was prior to Memorial Day and the area was very quiet and peaceful, however later in the season could be more active on the lake. It was perfect for the two of us.

We were looking to escape the heat of Houston and this was great spot for our small family. We were able to use the paddle boat, SUPs and kayaks. The decorations in the cabin really made us feel like we were on an "Up North" getaway. The king size bed with white linens and white towels is what you would expect from a 5 star property. The host was responsive and ensured we had a great stay. Thank you.

Perfect little cottage for 3 nights with our 2 grandsons. Very clean, comfortable king bed and great location within easy drive of Mackinac City ferry, Headlands Dark Sky Park & Petoskey. Our grandsons really enjoyed the lawn games and pedal boat.

The cottage is adorable, stocked with everything you’ll need. We spent most of our time outside enjoying the relaxing atmosphere and wildlife or kayaking. Early mornings and after the gorgeous sunsets, the screened porch was our favorite spot. Thanks Kelly…it was perfect!

The property was clean and the cottage was cute. Mosquitos are bad around the property but we still enjoyed our stay.

Cabin was clean, linens were nice, found everything we needed inside. Great for a couple! Unfortunately mosquitoes took over the entire outdoor area, so we could not enjoy a fire, the stars, or daytime relaxation by the lake.

The cottage was so cute and comfortable, everything about it was perfect. This was a great location for everything we wanted to do in the area. We are already talking about coming back in the summer!

The cabin is absolutely charming and the view of the lake from the enclosed porch was amazing. Loved the king sized bed and stocked kitchen. The location is perfect for exploring the surrounding area. Just a short drive to Many points of interest. If you don’t want to leave there are many Anne iTunes on site to enjoy as well. Kayaks, paddle boat, John boat, yard games, fishing poles, grill, fire pit with firewood provided. The area is very quite and peaceful. We originally only booked for 4 nights but enjoyed the property so much extended it to 7 nights. Easy check in/check out. Enjoyed our stay! Highly recommend!

The cabin was incredibly clean and well cared for. The bed was comfy, kitchen was well stocked and there were beautiful sunsets on clear evenings. The property has well water and the water has a definite smell to it (especially noticed in the shower) but actually tasted OK.

Super relaxing place
We just completed a week stay. The location was perfect to explore Mackinaw, even Sault Saint Marie is just over an hour away. Easy trips to Dark Sky Park and Mackinaw Island. Multiple bike trails are within reach with a short drive
Using our GPS, it was easy to find. We loved how quiet it was, even though there were cabins to the left and right. We are talking 40 feet from the lake, and spending time in the sun room enjoying the breeze and sunsets was just perfect. There is a nice collection of books to read. Starting the day with a little fire in the fireplace was great. The place was clean, The bed was comfortable, which for us is saying something. Tap water tasted just fine, but a filtering water container is provided.
Responses from Sarah were very quick and helpful and check-in couldn’t be easier. Oh, and little baby Robins hatched in the nest above the back porch light yesterday! Whomever is staying next will have a treat.

Wonderful cabin on Lake Paradise
Excellent location for seeing the sights of the Upper and Lower Peninsula, from Sault St. Marie to Mackinac Island to Petoskey and Charlevoix along the coast of Lake Michigan, an easy drive, and then returning to the best, the little cabin by the lake. Wish we could give it more than a 5 star rating. It had everything you could want. Beautiful sunsets, lovely fires in the fireplace, morning coffee on the porch, paddle boating, and adventures on the Trail. So happy we had the opportunity to stay here. Kelly was great. Thank you.

Cute cabin close to Mackinaw
We stayed here for an anniversary trip. The cabin was cute and located on a calm lake. Short drive to Sheplers ferry to head to Mackinaw Island. The host was very responsive even when we arrived at a late hour. Would stay here again if planning to visit Mackinaw. PS eat at Harbor Lights Grille on a Sunday and order the breakfast pasty. You won’t regret it!

SO LOVELY!!!
This was a perfect stay. The house was impeccable, the location was gorgeous and the quiet was amazing. There's everything you could possibly want in a getaway, the warm lake, the trees and path, the green lawn. We swam, we napped in the sun and we grilled. It was absolutely wonderful. I can't recommend enough!

Awesome cottage and location
Cottage and owner were amazing. Great location - very close to Mackinaw and Petoskey. The cottage is decorated beautifully - bed and bedding very comfortable. Owner replied to all questions quickly and offered suggestions on things to do when the weather was not so good
I would highly recommend this cottage and will most likely stay here again.

A hidden gem.
This is a wonderful property on a lovely lake tucked away in a quiet neighborhood just minutes from Mackinaw City. The cabin is very clean and cozy with all that you need, plus extras, to enjoy your stay! The lake is shallow but the water is clear and cool with a gravel bottom which allows floating to cool off on a hot day for adults and children. There are kayaks for exploring the lake more and during our visit there was very little boat traffic. We enjoyed Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island during our visit and one of the State Park beaches on Lake Michigan. It was nice to come back to our cabin and enjoy the quiet of Paradise Lake.

Amazing Lake Vacation
We just came back from an amazing vacation at this cottage. Sarah was a great host to work with, immediately answering any of my questions before the trip. The cottage is so adorable on the outside that I didn't even want to go in at first. You can tell how much love & care goes into the grounds here. When we entered, I couldn't believe how cute & clean it was, even better than i had pictured! It had everything we needed for our week stay, including super comfy beds (king & pull-out). We took advantage of all the yard games & water sports. There is a lot of grassy area for the kids to play and the water is very clear. The kids loved the kayaks & taking the rowboat out to go fishing. The location was so quiet & peaceful too. We even had a juvenile Bald Eagle visit us while we were there. It was an awesome site to see! We loved having our coffee outside every morning & watching the beautiful sunsets in the evening. The location was perfect. Close & convenient to Mackinaw City & the bridge and our favorite beach, Cecil Bay. We will definitely be back next summer and may even have some of our relatives rent the other 2 cottages on the property. Thanks for a great trip!
