About this cottage rental
Escape to the serenity of Northern Michigan and stay in our charming Birch Landing cottage, one of three cottages available to rent. Nestled at the water's edge, our cottage offers a perfect location for peace and tranquility while still being close to all the area's attractions. With one bedroom and a sleeper sofa, it comfortably accommodates up to four guests.
Step out of the cottage onto the wooden trail, and you'll find yourself in the midst of the Stony Point Nature Preserve. It's a nature lover's paradise with miles of hiking trails to explore. A stone's throw away is the Carp Lake Township Park, a historic park with a swing set by the water that's perfect for soaking in the serene atmosphere.
Our cottage's dock is fully equipped with watercraft for our guests to explore Lake Paradise, known for its fantastic fishing, with Walleye, Bass, Perch, Pike, and Bluegill among the species you can catch. The gradual slope of the lake bottom makes it ideal for small children to swim. For those who prefer to stay on land, our yard games, including Corn hole, Badminton, Croquet, and Whirly Ball, will keep you entertained.
Inside the cottage, you'll be greeted by the comfort of white-knotty pine everywhere, adding a rustic and cozy ambiance that can't be beaten while reading by the stone fireplace. Vintage and homemade decorations add a dash of local charm. The kitchen comes fully equipped with modern appliances, making homemade meals a pleasure. An updated bathroom with elegant tile and modern fixtures and a king-size bed ensure that you'll never feel cramped while sleeping. Our guests love that they feel like they're camping here without having to "rough it."
Our cottage rental includes spectacular sunsets, TrueStream fiber internet, a dedicated fire pit, lawn games, kayaks/SUPs, and much more. We also have two other cottages available on the property, perfect for extended family reunions.
When you're ready to venture out, take a ferry boat to historic Mackinac Island, famous for its delicious fudge. Or pack a picnic lunch and spend time on the miles of beach at Wilderness State Park. Cycle on miles of dedicated bike paths in the region, including the Petoskey-Mackinaw bike path, a quick ride from the cottage. Spend the day shopping and having lunch in Harbor Springs and Petoskey, or take a short drive across the famous Mackinaw Bridge to see the beauty of the Upper Peninsula. Golf or play tennis in the nearby village or relax at the cottage with a good book while the others fish or swim. The area also has many country/lakeside dining spots.
At the end of the day, enjoy breathtaking sunsets from your own sunroom. Later, roast marshmallows over the bonfire at the lake's edge. Please note that for our early spring and late fall guests, it can get cold during the shoulder months, so please come prepared. Our cottages are cozy but not equipped with central heating and cooling. You'll enjoy the cozy fireplace, and we have a small electric heater, but that's it. Bring a sweater, a warm blanket, and enjoy the fall colors!

Beautifully kept, clean and homey.
We enjoyed the peacefulness and the beautiful sunsets too!

The cottage was located right on Lake Paradise. While the cottage was small for our group of 4, it was everything that we needed. It was clean, quiet and right on the lake. The yard games and kayaks on the property kept our family entertained. It was a bit of an adventure through the woods to get to the parking at this particular cabin. A larger truck or SUV might have a bit of trouble navigating the narrow path. This isn't a complaint - just a heads up for the next person staying here. Management was nice and quick to respond to the couple of texts I sent during our stay. Would recommend for a couple or a smaller family.

The property was very clean and decorated very nice. The front sunroom was amazing and we enjoyed sitting out there and watch the lake and the awesome sunsets! The cabin is just so peaceful and tucked away from everything. We enjoyed sitting by the outdoor fire pit and all wood is supplied which was a nice touch! We highly recommend this beautiful cabin!!!

This beautiful property is tucked away on the lake. Its got all the amenities you need for your stay. I love that there is kayaks to take out on the lake. It was a great get away, close to Mackinaw and all the fun activities. Thanks for providing such a cute place to stay. P.S. the bed is so comfortable. 😴

We were enchanted by this cabin and its location. It’s a cozy getaway, down a road that dead ends at—this cabin! The nights were cool, so we built a fire in the fireplace every night. Mere steps from Paradise Lake, and the sunsets were wonderful. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed.
Mackinaw city is just a few miles away.
Bring mosquito repellent.
Arrive in daylight. This place may be difficult to find in the dark!

We absolutely loved our weekend getaway to Lake Paradise and this cute cabin. The cabin was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the view from the screened porch was fabulous. We dealt with a lot of mosquitoes inside the cabin - never figured out how they were getting in, but at least they were slow and easily dealt with! Also - if you want to use a SUP - bring your own paddle because the ones available have broken telescoping handles that won’t stay extended. Overall a 5* stay and I think we’ll be back in the future!

We had a wonderful time staying at this cabin. The owner was so helpful and made sure we had a great trip. It’s conveniently located close to many great places to visit. I hated leaving and hope to come back one day. Thanks for everything!

Small cabin. Perfect for two people. Great view of lake out front windows. Clean and comfortable. It was remote, 10 minutes away from town. Very quiet area. We loved it!

The cottage was right on the lake, we enjoyed some beautiful sunsets. Inside was small but we knew that when renting, it was perfect for the two of us. Very comfortable. Not far from Mackinaw City. We would stay there again.

My mother and I came up to spend a long weekend and visit Mackinac island. The cabin was cute cozy and clean. We didn’t cook a thing for 3 days and only had to wash 2 coffee cups. It was lovely to relax lake side after long days out and about. Mornings sitting by the lake were lovely too. Thanks for hosting us!

We enjoyed our stay at this cottage. The location is great, as it is close to almost everything at the "tip of the mitten".
Our communication with the property manager was easy and she promptly replied.
Things we loved:
- Location
- Property is on the lake
- Many options for yard games and
lake toys
- King sized bed / very comfortable
- All towels supplied / bath and
kitchen
- Kitchen is well stocked with cooking
utensils and dinnerware
- Nice outdoor sitting area and
sunroom
Areas for improvement:
- size of the shower or the actual
shower head (something more
moveable) / had a tough time as a
short person - water was pelting me
in the face
We have stayed in tents through pouring rain, many other rental homes and 5 star all inclusive resorts. I don't think you will be disappointed with this place unless you think it should be the equivalent of a fancy resort. If you are looking to unwind and relax and your priority is just to have a comfy place to lay your head at night, then look no further.

We stayed in the smaller cottage (3 Adults, 2 teens 16,16). The bedroom was very large with tons of storage. The living area had a couch that converted into a bed. The porch area was good for our portable cot that we brought. Tons of windows that could be opened to be able to enjoy the amazing breeze that comes in from the lake. The kitchen had a nice size refrigerator, stove, and microwave. The bathroom is very small. The cottage was clean and had towels, dish soap, shampoo & conditioner. The outdoor games and water activities were Awesome!! I would highly recommend this property.

Our family of four had a blast staying at this cabin. It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. It was cozy, comfortable, and clean. We loved being close to Mackinaw City. Our son loved fishing in the middle of the lake to catch huge bluegill.

1. When I found the property, I searched on Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. But, it's 2 hours away. Maybe not the owner's fault - but definitely VRBO.
2. When we pulled down the dirt/gravel road, we had an eery/uneasy feeling due to several neighbors at different homes staring at us drive by.
3. The lake is not at all in a "Lake Paradise" condition with sludge at the edges, dock area, etc., weeds popping up all over the lake, etc.
4. As we were planning to cook and stay, we were told by Kelly, Property Manager, that the nearest grocery store is a Walmart 30 minutes away. In addition, when we first tried to contact Kelly, we called and couldn't leave a message due to her voice mail being full. So, I had to text her.
5. Except for bedroom bed, furniture is very old, with upholstery tearing and ripping.

Our first time "up north" after four years living in Michigan. We were very happy with the cottage. Perfect for a couple, we also had our 18 year old son with us for 5 of the 7 nights. He was comfortable on the sofa bed. We had to pull in a chair for the dining table, but that was no problem. Four people would be tighter, but would be doable. We like to do most of our own cooking, and found the kitchen to be quite well equipped. One night we cooked with the charcoal grill, and another night we used the wood firepit with included grill. We brought charcoal but later found that both charcoal and firewood are included. The evenings that it was warm inside we had dinner on the picnic table out back. We enjoyed the stand-up paddle boards, the kayaks, and swimming. We hoped to fish more, but the lake is very shallow (mostly 5-10 feet) except for the very middle which is a long way out without a motor. Within 500 yards or so we hooked just a few bluegill. One night we watched the included Netflix, but never tried the DVD player. Communication with the property manager was excellent. The one time the WiFi went out she responded to my text within 5 or 10 minutes, suggesting that we try unplugging then plugging the repeater/router back in, which did the trick. All in all, it was the perfect cottage for our 4th of July week getaway.

This property offers an excellent stay on Lake Paradise with easy access to Mackinaw City and beyond. The property itself boasts beautiful views over the Lake and a rustic feel that exceeds expectations. My husband and I enjoyed using the kayaks provided, outdoor fire pit, and indoor fireplace. Our favorite room in the cabin was the sunroom where we sat and rested after the long drive from Mississippi. From the cabin we were able to easily visit Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, Petoskey Beach, Cheboygan, and even traverse the Upper Peninsula. The host provides plenty of wood for the fire and kindling is easily collected from the surrounding forest.
The ONLY thing we wish was better about our stay is the shower. The stream of water from the shower head feels like a pressure washer and is too abrasive to the point where we dreaded showering. We recommend a different shower head that allows a gentler stream as well as better conservation of hot water. Furthermore, the last day of our stay we heard critters squeaking in the ceiling, but this is understandable to some degree being so close to the Nature Reserve.
My husband and I would definitely recommend a stay here for rest and relaxation or traveling to the surrounding cities and State Parks.

We had a great visit. Just remembered, you are in NATURE. We used lots of bug spray to keep the mosquitoes off us. The kayaking, paddle boarding and paddle boat gave us plenty of activities. We found everything we needed in the cottage. The bed was comfortable. The little special touches were great!! THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!!

Spent a long weekend celebrating hubby to be's 50th birthday and some much needed alone time together with our wedding just 2 weeks away. The cabin is perfect. Fireplace was lovely to share a bottle of wine. Lake is right outside the porch soothing you with the lull of the waves against the shore. Very quiet area. Absolutely perfect

Best weekend ever
We got up here and went to Mackinaw Island. At the end of a great long day it was refreshing to get to a cabin that was so perfect for my wife and I to stay at. In the morning before our next adventure we sat and ate breakfast with an amazing view of one of the most clear lakes that I have ever seen. We will definitely be renting this cabin and maybe have friends rent the cabin next door to enjoy the lake all week long.

We really enjoyed our stay in the cabin on Lake Paradise. The cabin was large, well-stocked with kitchen items, clean, comfortable, and had a great location on the lake. Thank you!

My husband and I chose this property as our hub during our 25th anniversary trip to Northern Michigan. We could not have been happier with our selection. While the property is easy to locate and get to, I do recommend your first approach being during daylight hours. The cottage is meticulously clean and very charming. We went adventuring every day to all the surrounding sites, but frankly, couldn't wait to be tucked into our cottage for the night. The lake was so tranquil and we visited in October, so some days were clear and other days were cloaked in fog. No matter...we loved it all. Being that we headed home to the cottage for sunsets and an evening fire, we also cooked many meals in the cottage. Just a heads up (and in no way blaming the owner), the oven is easily 50 degrees over and the burners run hot too. The shower is tiny and the hot water tank to match. I'm not complaining, just letting the next LUCKY renter know. We were heartbroken to leave. Many wonderful memories were made and God willing, we will be back. Thank you, Sarah and Kelly for your hospitality.

Great for Quiet Vacation
I visited with my husband for a long weekend, and we really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was great for two adults, small but comfortable-exactly what we were looking for. We found the kitchen was well stocked for cooking needs. The cabin was very clean, and well maintained. The King size bed was extremely comfortable, and stocked with many blankets for the colder nights. The view is great, and the chairs outside are incredibly comfortable to enjoy a morning coffee.
The only opportunity for improvement is the driveway to get back to the cabin. We had to call the owner on arrival because the address does not take you directly to the cabin. We were told to follow a very narrow trail that barely fit our large truck, and we were very careful to not get scratches from tree brush. This is not enough to hinder our enjoyment of the cabin, just a fore-warning for future travelers with large vehicles.
I will also say, the location is pretty remote. We drove from lower MI and thought we'd grab dinner when we arrived, but the nearest town for food open later than 8 is Mackinaw, and after traveling 4 hours, we did not want to get back on the highway. But there is a well stocked gas station roughly 10 mins from the cabin, so thankfully we were able to grab some microwave options. This is no reflection of the VRBO, just insight for future travelers :)
Overall great place to stay!
