About this house rental
I-3 is a spacious open oceanfront studio recently renovated in winter, 2018. With high ceilings and a wall of doors open to the screened lanai, you can relax and enjoy the sounds of the waves and a view of the beach. There is a fully equipped fully remodeled kitchen with all new stainless steel appliances, cabinets, including a washer and dryer within the unit. The condo is freshly painted and nicely furnished with dining table, living room seating area and a brand new (2021) KING size bed. Paniolo Hale has a pool & BBQ's scattered around the property. I-3 is just steps to Kepuhi Beach. It is just a short walk to Make Horse Beach. Nearby is Papohaku Beach, the longest white sand beach on Molokai, where sometimes the only people on the beach are you.
Molokai is known as 'The Friendly Isle.' It is also considered the most Hawaiian island. Like stepping back in time 50 years, you won't find traffic lights, elevators, malls, glitz, or night life. If you're looking for rural place for relaxation, snorkeling, beautiful ocean views, quiet beaches, and old Hawaii, you'll find it on Molokai. Some say 'only on Molokai', we say 'always on Molokai' Come find out why.
Molokai is the smallest of the main Hawaiian chain; 38 miles long and only 10 to 15 miles wide. Its west side is arid and dry. Beaches in the winter are great for surfing, and occasionally for swimming. In the summer the beaches are calm for snorkeling and swimming. The East End is more lush and tropical with miles of barrier reef in front.
Molokai's North side is famous for having the world's highest sea cliffs which rise some 3000 feet out of the ocean. The 2774-acre Kamakou Forest Preserve on Molokai overlooks these sea cliffs, and is home to endangered birds and over 200 Hawaiian plants that grow only in this preserve.
Molokai South side is where you will find our main town, Kaunakakai, with art shops, two full service grocery markets, an ice cream shop, a bakery, and a fine wine and cheese shop. You'll also find limited shopping in the villages of Kualapu'u and Maunaloa.

We just spent a fabulous month in Trisha's unit and can't say enough about how special our time was there. The photos of the condo are accurate but can't begin to capture the nurturing comfort and tranquility of being there in the balmy warmth, complete with tropical aromas and of course the hypnotizing sounds of the surf just steps away from the unit. We found ourself somewhat torn each evening about whether to watch the sunset from the beach or from the privacy of our own delightful lanai - such a hardship! Fabulous beaches all around, some easily accessible and in plain sight, others requiring a bit of work to find and access, but all marvellous. The condo is tasteful and comfortable, and Trisha is clearly interested in ensuring that you have a memorable stay.

Really enjoyed Paniolo Hale I3. The screened in lanai is the perfect place to listen to the waves all night long. Great ocean view. Nicely decorated with almost everything you need. Trisha is always quick to reply to any questions you have. Highly recommended.

This island is truely a special place and this condo was an ideal place to stay. The indoor outdoor set up is wonderful, the feel was charming and comfortable. the beach is a minute walk. there are often surfers to watch, and a beautiful sunset every night. The grounds are lush and beautifully landscaped. I would highly recommend this place.

We had a great stay at Paniolo Hale I3, it was our second trip to Molokai. The unit looks out on the ocean and you can hear the waves at night. We loved the screened lanai and the coziness of the unit. By far one of the best appointed kitchens I have ever used, from the quality pots and pans, to the knives, to the cutting board. (Everything you need and not filled with a bunch of things you donât need đ) Queen bed was great too!
Molokai is not for the searcher of night life, it is for travelers happy to explore and relax. That being said, our 4x4 Jeep was a must! There are some nice places to eat in town, and the busy grocery stores have a great selection of food and beer and wine.
September was quite a bit hotter (a couple 90 degree days) and more windy than March, we did find several swimming areas, including at Make Horse just a few steps away.
We canât wait to come back, and I just want to add, connections from Honolulu are a piece of cake.

We love Molokai. It is the perfect antidote for the noise and busy life of the city. This unit has a lovely view and has been tastefully redecorated. Wake up to the sight and sound of the waves and birds. Great to have washer and dryer in the unit. All appliances are new and work well. Most of Molokai does not have air conditioning, so it can be quite warm, but we liked the feel of the open air from the screened in lanai. Nice collection of books about the area. It was perfect for the two of us .

This was my fifth stay at this unit, and it's my favorite unit at Paniolo Hale. I love the fact that I can see and hear the ocean waves from the bed when I wake up in the morning, and from the dinner table on the lanai at dinnertime. The unit was nicely refurbished a couple of months ago, and the bathroom and kitchen are great. On the first day I accidentally broke the glass coffee carafe; Trisha the owner immediately sent over a brand new coffee maker with a stainless steel (unbreakable) carafe. I've already booked for a return visit!

COVID UPDATE:
Currently a negative COVID pre-test, within 72 hours of your departure time from your last mainland stop is required, unless you have been fully vaccinated in the US. The negative test result, must be provided to the HOA office at check in, for all parties staying in the unit. If you have been vaccinated, you will need to provide a copy of the vaccination card with your registration. People traveling between the islands, no longer need a test, or proof of vaccination.
Masks are still required in all public indoor locations, such as stores and restaurants.
Maui restaurants, bars and other businesses now require proof of vaccination from indoor customers as part of the county's new "Safer Outside" program.
Starting Wednesday, there were also new limits on private gathering sizes â five people indoors and 10 outdoors.
The county said bars, restaurants, gyms, fitness centers and other âhigh riskâ businesses can operate at 50% capacity indoors if all customers over the age of 12 are fully vaccinated. Unvaccinated patrons can eat in outdoor spaces or get take-out.
There is no option to present a negative COVID-19 test to patronize those businesses indoors, unlike the program on OĘťahu

We had a wonderful time in Molokai. The whole island and this location in particular is very quiet and secluded feeling and perfect for a relaxing and romantic getaway. We had the beach to ourselves at times or shared it with only a few individuals (or seals!). The ocean was warm and calm and nice to swim in (August). The condoâs lanai really makes the experience special as you hear and see the ocean and animals day and night, almost as if youâre sleeping outside. The condo itself is stocked with everything you need for cooking, toiletries and beach gear. The only beach gear missing was an umbrella. We definitely recommend this condo and Molokai in general.

All of the reviews are accurate! The view is amazing! All of the beaches are beautiful and uncrowded! Listening to the axis deer at night along with the ocean waves was so relaxing. The place has everything you need and Pauline had it cleaned to perfection upon our arrival. Great communication with the owner! What is not to love!!!

Loved this stay! Having lived at Paniolo Hale many years ago, it was nice to return and the unit was perfect for us. Molokai's quietness and community will alway be special! Not for everyone or anyone seeking a Hawaii resort experience, but for me, it brought back many memories and remains an island untouched by major change and tourism.

This is a very spacious studio for a couple. Everything is provided for your comfort. Up front on the property so thereâs a wonderful view from your screened in lanai. A place where youâll want to return.

What a great location and size for this rental! Walks on the beach, seeing the whales breech from the lani- almost daily! So much to do and see and yet relaxing. Could do it again easily! Would love to be a repeat customer in this location. Anything and everything you need in the condo was there. We love to cook and found all necessities and more meaning found misc spices and condiment that if you buy personal items while you are there you can leave for the next guest to enjoy to help cooking.Plan on cooking at home Sunday and limited dinner possibilities on Monday too. The main grocery in town was well stocked.

Weâve stayed at other properties on Molokai and this is definitely our favorite! The view and proximity to the beach is spectacular and the unit is super well equipped. We spent most of our time hanging out on the lanai, reading and watching the surfers, and ventured out to say hi to the sleeping monkseals and swim in the pool, trading the ocean waves for bird sounds.

We spent 11 nights at this lovely property. It was probably the nicest place we have ever rented, and we have stayed in some excellent places. What made it so nice is that even though it is on the small side, it's very well designed, with very high ceilings and large windows, so it feels much bigger than it is. We would definitely stay there again.

We loved to the beautiful ocean views, and the extensive property for taking long walks. Being close enough to see surfers from our lanai was so fun, and loved the peaceful feeling of listening to the waves at night.
We cooked all of our dinners in our studio's kitchen, and found it to have all needed cookware, dishes, appliances, etc. The full size washing machine and dryer were a great help, as able to keep our luggage light for the trip.
Comfortable king size bed, lots of areas to sit comfortably and a nicely appointed bathroom with large shower.
A very short walk to the parking lot, and also to the
beach. The grounds have many varieties of plants, trees and flowers, and wildlife. Watching the wild turkeys roam the property was delightful.
Hope to return for a visit again someday!

Our 6 days at Panholo Hale I-3 was awesome. With an overlooking lanai to the ocean we viewed nightly sunsets from the comfortable rocking chairs. Awakening to the sound of the ocean through the open french doors each morning was luxury.
The condo was aptly equipped, very clean and communications with Scott were superb. We couldn't ask for more. If you are looking for rest and relaxation, we highly recommend this spot on Molokai.

The listing is accurate and was just as beautiful as the pictures. Molokai is a small Island with very little shopping and points of interest but if that's what your looking for it is perfect as we totally enjoyed our 2 weeks here. We are not hikers but there are a lot of trails here and very nice beaches of which most of the time we were the only ones on the beach. For us at 70+ it was a 5 star

A piece of paradise, this villa has the most beautiful beach front views. As soon as we drove up to Paniolo Hale the property is so well maintained, the lush flowers, when you walk into the villa it is just breathtaking. Youâre welcomed with ocean waves crashing outside of the lanai. The views are incredible. The decor, was so welcoming. They offered every amenity you could think of, we used the binoculars to watch 3 whales & the surfers. Chairs for sitting to watch the sunset. The fans are amazing & with the cool night breeze we slept like babies. The bed is so comfortable. And they leave you with everything you need in the kitchen. Iâve never been somewhere where they leave laundry tabs for your laundry & it was greatly appreciated. I have traveled the U.S. & internationally, with what is offered inside & out, this is easily the most beautiful place Iâve ever stayed. âď¸ âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸. Mahalo.

Great little place to stay on west side of the island. Quiet neighborhood. Only drawback is location and proximity to grocery store, which isn't bad...you just have to plan for it. Sunset views are unbeatable.
My only complaint about the property is the freezer was left cracked open and all the ice was melted when I arrived, plus a small puddle in front. Not a big deal.

The bed was comfortable and of high quality.
The beach chairs were perfect to take out at night to stargaze.
The lanai was a private yet open space to listen to the ocean and watch the waves or read or eat, until the sun got too hot, which was time to retreat to any of the comfortable seating inside.
A couple recommendations:
Arrive during the day. The directions are excellent, and still, this is a fairly private location, so it's going to be a lot easier to find during daylight.
While it is very private, it is a studio condo in a row of units. You can see in the neighbor's lanai if you stand at one end of the unit's lanai and look away from the beautiful view, so just stick to the beautiful view and listen to the ocean, not the neighbor.
I'm grateful to the host for providing such a wonderful place to stay. A hui hou.

Thereâs no place like Molokaâi to enjoy the nature of Hawaiâi away from the hustle and bustle of commercial activities and tourists, and this condo is absolutely the best place to stay on island.
The high ceilings, large screened in lanai with all the doors open turn this âstudioâ into a spacious, inviting and comfortable place to relax and rejuvenate. The furniture is comfortable and the kitchen is stocked with all the accessories you need. Youâre just steps from the best beaches in all of Maui County.

Our condo was in a beautiful tropical setting with beach views. We went to sleep with the sound of waves & a view of the Milky Way every night. The lanai/ porch was large & screened in. We sat out there playing cards each night. Very private and quiet.

We absolutely loved the condo. It was beautifully and comfortably decorated. We loved the doors that could be all open to the screened in porch. Best of all, the VIEW. It was incredible. The kitchen is well equipped, and had pretty much anything we would need. Loved the area it is in. It is a ways from town, but we didn't mind, we wanted a peaceful, quiet stay, which it is. The condo looks just as it is represented in the pictures. Would stay here again in a second!

We stayed here for our 50th wedding anniversary and were very impressed. It was one of the nicest accommodations we have ever had for a vacation. The room was pleasant and the screened lanai was a pleasure to use. Just 50 yards from the beach, you could hear the waves crashing at night. There are many hiking trails nearby to explore the area, but it was also wonderful just to relax on the lanai and enjoy the view. We were happy to have had the opportunity to stay there.

We really loved our stay! The place was beautiful the view was amazing! We didnt close the lanai doors the whole time we weâre there. Fell asleep and woke up at the sounds of the ocean.

Molokai is a unique wonderful place
We loved the property, very lush and green grounds, cute as a button pool, quiet and not crowded in general both on property and beach. We loved our stay, being middle aged with no kids, we appreciated that this was a very âgrown-upâ property with adults mostly. We also appreciated the out of the way location, that was close enough to town to go daily. Acai and Poke bowls at A Taste of Molokai food truck and hot bread were highlightes. Kumu farms for papaya and back to the condo to sit on the lanai in the breeze. Lovely!

Peaceful Paradise
A spacious well- equipped property, walking distance to the beach and just a short drive to one of the longest beaches on the islands. The views were magnificent everyday and the connected lanai made being in feel almost like being outdoors most of the time. Definitely a beautiful stay!

Outstanding Experience and Outstanding Accommodations
The studio was well equipped and beautifully appointed. Exceeded our expectations. Scott was super easy to work with and very communicative. The studio has a screened in lanai facing the ocean. We never closed the doors to the lanai and listened to the ocean all night long. Every evening we walked with our beach chairs (provided) down to a mostly empty beach and watched the sunset. I even saw a green flash. It happened to be whale season so we saw whales while the sun was setting. Come on!!! Not only is the studio great the overall property is very well maintained. Couldn't be more pleased with our stay and time on Molokai.
We did rent a car because the property is about a 35 minute drive into the main town, groceries, restaurants, etc. Also it got a little warm in the studio during the later afternoon so keep the front door open for airflow. This is the island and place you want to go to if you need a break from it all.

The property was clean and nicely furnished with everything we needed. We cooked some great meals and met so many lovely people. Both local and vacationers. When you stay here donât forget to go down to the beach at sunset and meet the âSunsettersâ. Theyâre a great group of people that watch the sunset every night. Theyâve all been coming here for 20+ years and will give you lots of great information on places to go and things to do. Weâve already booked to come back again!!! Thank you Molokai! We love you!

Beautiful stay
If you're looking for a warm inviting and unspoiled place to unwind and relax in body mind and spirit you can't go wrong here. Lovely walks, unspoiled beaches; this is a place where you can be mesmerized just watching the surf and the surfers, listening to the waves and the birds. Don't look for night-life here. Everything we needed was right here in this well-stocked unit with unbeatable views.
