Only 20 mins drive from Cardiff city centre - the accommodation was clean, comfortable and well presented

Literally booked this the day before we arrived, found it easily enough, completely off the beaten track, lovely and quiet, really lovely little place, ample big enough for a family, plenty to do in the area. 20 mins or so from Caerphilly and Cardiff, plenty of places to eat or shop, just had a really nice time. Cut short by some issues at home but we'll definitely be back for longer next time. Thanks for accomodating us.

This is ideal for 1-2 people needing a quiet spot. It is tucked away off the Taff trail and east walking to the lovely pubs in the village. Rachael is excellent to work with.

Really nicely presented accommodation. All amenities are excellent, comfy bed, great surroundings. Nice little touches by the owners on decor, etc.
Great location to Cardiff - 10 min walk to train/bus - 20 mins then into Cardiff.

Lovely spot right on the taff trail. The accommodation was really nice. We had clear communication which made it a stress free arrival. Waiting for us was wine and Welsh cakes which were a really lovely touch. The dog loved walking straight out of the gate and into the woods.

Great access to Taff Trail for cycling and walking.

Rachael an excellent host.

Enjoyed our stay in this comfortable well appointed cabin in the woods. Property was as advertised and spacious for 2 people.. We used the sofa bed as well as the double and found them both comfortable. . TV via Firestick was fine for us. There is a decent level of kitchen equipment and we were very happy to find the heating was set at a comfortable level and provided a cosy environment .. We loved the woodland location and being near the Taffs Trail. - not so busy in November .
If it rains the sound is quite loud on the metal roof but that was not a problem for us.
Rachael was easy to deal with and prompt with responses. We were very grateful for her detailed directions to the property which we found with ease. We definitely hope to return.

This was a quirky but lovely place to stay for a weekend in Wales. Well equipped, quaint arty features everywhere you look, strangely remote but also sort of busy with walkers, joggers and cyclists passing on the Taff Trail! All in all a lovely feel, hard to describe, would definitely recommend this property. While you're there Castle Coch is must see.

Room was quite small but had all we needed. Very clean, fresh paint well kept. Outside traditional, lovely old style building. Bus stop right around the corner. Locals very pleasant. Owner operator looked grouchy but was a joy to visit with.

Didn’t get to spend much time in the accommodation but all seemed as described, and it was only a short walk to the train station

Lovely area setting. Nice welcome touch of Wine @ Welsh cakes.
Meet the owner who was lovely and helpful.
Slight down fall, property had a tin roof so quite noisy when rained and it was a little chilly at night.

Firstly I would like to say the host was helpful when we needed help with Internet login. And the decor was lovely however We were disappointed with the location and the outside sitting area. We had chosen this property over others because it looked as though it had a lovely space to sit and enjoy the outside. Sadly it wasn't quite how the picture looks and it wasn't clean. Inside looked really nicely decorated however it wasn't clean. We had to clean all the kitchen items before we could use them. Floors and sides were dirty. Kettle we didn't use as it was filthy inside and out. We used a pan to boil water instead. It came apparent when reading the rules in the welcome pack that you have to strip the bed put rugs and tea towels in a basket and sweep the floor before you leave. So it seems the place is only as clean as the last person left it!!! I am all for leaving a place tidy before you leave but this seems to be
so that they don't have to clean!!
Bedding was fresh and clean though and the bed was comfortable.
There was a nice little welcome bottle of wine and coffee and Welsh cakes but sadly there wasn't the basics like salt and pepper and considering its a place meant for upto four people frying pan and things are so small.
It's not so quite either of a Sunday being so near to the football club and the A470.
Sadly won't be returning

Great stay
Perfect location for us visiting our son. Well equipped, clean and comfortable will definitely stay again.

It was just the two of us staying with our dog, and found it the perfect location for long, winding walks. It was great fun discovering all the meandering pathways.
Although the weather was quite damp while we were there, we stayed cosy in our cabin and had everything required for self catering. There is a tin roof, and being in the woods (and autumn) , it can be quite noisy with the dripping and also the nearby carriageway can be heard. However, once the TVs on snuggled up with hot choccie, it really didn’t matter. Great bathroom and comfy bed. Also very fast communication from Rachael who was very accommodating with my queries. Thank you for Rachael!

We enjoyed our stay, the area around the cabin itself is quite nice, but the approach is through a built up housing estate.
The cabin is on the Taffs Trail and it would have been really useful if the owner had left some info about this, as we did not know which path was the one for the trail as there are several around the cabin. Also some info about places to visit in the area (not just the local pub) would have been very useful! Shame there is no guest folder with all this information in it, something the owner could provide quite easily, as they are very keen to leave info of all the things they don't want you to do in the property and how to make sure you get the rubbish procedure correct and clean the floor of the cabin before you leave! We would also have liked to have been left some anti bac spray to use during our stay and have been provided with enough bin bags for a week. The dishwasher also had no salt or rinse aid in it, which we had to buy ourselves, this should be checked on each check out by the owner.
The outside deck area at the rear is quite sweet, although it would be good if there were a light that worked (the small string of lights stuck on the fence do not work) as without a light it is too dark round there to sit in the evening.
The sofa in the living area is very uncomfortable to sit on and even more uncomfortable to sleep on for a week, the bed mattress is also very uncomforable.
We did not encounter the owner at all during our stay, it would have been nice for them to acknowledge our visit by maybe a passing 'hello'? they will probably say 'due to Covid they do not greet the guests' but just a walk by would be nice, we assume they live in the house at the top of the driveway.
We were very impressed with South Wales and enjoyed our trips out to Caerphilly Castle, St Fagans, Castel Coch and Cardiff, it would have been great if we had known that we could catch the train locally - but again no info was given from the owner of this and we found out too late in our stay!
All in all, the cabin is clean and the furniture is quite new, there are a lot of needless 'bits and bobs, dust collectors', with many fake plastic plant pots everywhere, but the space is nice to spend the evenings in, as long as you like Netflix! Some side lights would also be great, as the large spotlights are very bright and glaring.
Would we stay again - no, would we recommend it - yes with a few tweaks if could be great. Thank you.

Arrived here for 2 nights.
Very easy communication.
We needed a early check in due to a last minute problem and Rachel accommodated straight away which was excellent and was greeted with a welcome gift (very nice gesture) the pictures on the website do not do it enough justice. Excellent property. Decorated and equipped to a very high standard. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. Defnately enough room for a family of 4.
Loved the outside area to relax in and our dog was made welcome with the enclosed garden.
Great location.

Great property
My daughter and her boyfriend stayed at the property during a visit to Wales with my husband and I. We were all visiting my son and his girlfriend. The property is perfect clean, well equipped very comfortable, great location much bigger than the photos make it look. We visit Wales regularly and would stay definitely stay at the property ourselves next time we visit.

Just had a weekend here & I would love to have stayed longer. Although it was a wet, windy weekend it was great. The lodge is very comfy, cosy & well presented. It was very well equipped in the kitchen & the smart TV is a real bonus. The garden & decking area is lovely with the sound of the stream, so relaxing.
The location is great being on the Taff Trail, some really good walks (think we broke our dog, he's done nothing but sleep since we got back).
We went to Barry Island (I'm a real Gavin & Stacey fan), which is just 30mins away. Just a 20min drive into Cardiff & Cardiff Bay. So the location is great. Thank you so much. ☆☆☆☆☆ 🥰

Best Stay Ever !
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Art Coffee House. A short train ride into the centre of Cardiff and surrounded by beautiful mountains and forests, this cabin was the staycation we all needed. The place itself was beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, with brilliant facilities. Would recommend to anyone wanting to visit the land of song. Aros orau erioed!!

Just returned from a week in this fantastic accommodation.
Pre arrival communication was excellent.
The area in which ir is set is amazing with lots of walking with our dog even an agility dog park close by.
Everything we needed was in the accommodation.
Lovely walk to village pubs again with our dog.
All in all a very chilled staycation.
And a big thanks to the owner who was passing when my online grocery delivery arrived and as we were delayed 3 hours due to roadworks was able to accept it and put it away. WHAT A SERVICE. Will definitely be back.
