We had a multigenerational family vacation at this lovely and well-appointed lake house. We loved the ever changing views of the lake over the course of the day, the easy access to the water via the dock and beach and the comfortale house with lots of different spaces for gathering and sleeping. We would definitely recommend this property and would love to come back!

Love our stay here.Love the bed downstairs.Wish there was a fireplace as it says.Think a canopy could be provided so visitors could have access to some shade.Explain better about garbage to the street because both times it’s been slap full when we arrived.I have a bad back unable to take theirs and mine all the way down to the road.Half bath not very usable due to seat all over the place.plastic nuts stripped. But we love it just some quirks

This was our second year in the same rental unit. We had expected to make it three years straight by reserving the same week for next summer. We were terribly disappointed to learn the entire summer of 2025 was already booked. Perhaps because our experience with Florida rentals is that renters in any given time period are almost always given priority for the same period in the following year, we were mildly stunned by our discovery. I do not believe rental reservations should be allowed more than a year in advance.
If there is a situation where the owner of the rental unit expects to use the property for a special event of their own the following year, the renters in any given year should be told in advance the property will not be available at the same time the following year. In fact, the renters can even be told the property will be available in two years, although that need not be done. We have, however, seen both such actions taken in Florida.

Excellent on all counts.

We loved the views of Keuka lake. We often had 12 hours of sun and we
were able to swim and and use our own kayak many days. The house had ample parking and a large beachfront. Fortunately, my son in law brought us a canopy to allow us some shade on cloudless days.
The house was comfortable… we were a large group of mixed ages and prepared food in the kitchen most evenings.
Unfortunately there was a power outage (not the owners fault) and we weren’t able to open the majority of the windows which had no screens.
But even so, we’ve already booked for next year.

If you know anything about the Finger Lakes you know how rare a large flat lot with a lot of privacy is and this property has both of those things. The house itself is very clean and decorated really cute. The bedroom on the main floor does not have a ceiling which isn’t an issue if you put the early risers in that room but could be a problem for someone who wants to sleep in as its right off the kitchen and there really is no way to be quiet to not wake up whoever is in that bedroom. My only very minor complaint is that there are no chairs around the fire pit so I would recommend bringing your own. Otherwise this house has everything you need and the owner is very responsive. We locked ourselves out one day and they immediately helped us get back in. Would love to stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a Keuka rental.

We had a wonderful family vacation here. The house had adequate space for us: 6 adults and 3 children age 5 and under. The yards around the house were level (unlike some FLX properties) and provided stressless play area for our 3 grandchildren to run around. We love this house and all its features. Only a few minor things to be aware of: the bottom floor bedroom with 2 bunks was a good size for our daughter and her husband and 2 children age 3 and under … however, there were NO blinds or blackout curtains on the windows … meaning that 2 young kids awakened at the crack of dawn with the sunlight (one window facing east) and were ready to go! After the 2nd morning, our son-in-law improvised and found enough cardboard to craft a makeshift covering for inside the window. Not a huge issue, but just something to be aware of for those with young children. In fact, we didn’t find that any of the bedrooms had thick window treatments. My wife prefers absolute darkness for a good night’s sleep. We still had a great week! Also, one of the full bathrooms entry is into the eating area. Not a big deal for us, just a little awkward. For any families who prefer an en suite with 100% bathroom privacy, this isn’t possible. Again, not a big deal for our family, but just something to be aware of. The owner was easily accessible during the week when we needed to communicate. We hope to return to this VRBO in the coming years. It was great for us! Thank you!!

We had a wonderful time at Birchwood cottage, the decor and the property are beautiful and the access to the lake couldn’t be nicer. From fishing off the dock to watching the sun rise from the patio we made good use of the outdoor spaces. Keuka lake is crystal clear and beautiful. There are a number of wineries within a few minutes drive of the cottage. It does take 20 mins or so to get to a grocery store but all in all it wasn’t that far to get to Penn Yan for these items. We would definitely return again!

Our family had a wonderful time at Birchwood Cottage and we would definitely stay again. Drew was very accommodating and responsive. The home and property were well kept and the lake views and access were amazing.

This house has everything!
The large kitchen/living space and large dining table made spending time together inside easy & comfortable. There were board games to play, books to read, and clean cozy furniture to curl up on in the evenings.
BUT who could spend much time inside with an outdoor area like that?! The stone beach & shallow water was perfect for our group ages 8-60 but we would definitely recommend swim shoes (some slippery stones). We spent most of our time at Keuka in the water swimming, skipping stones, or out front playing in the large/flat front yard which offers a lot of privacy thanks to the surrounding trees.
This property is the perfect mix of togetherness and privacy with different floors, bedrooms spread out just right, and multiple restrooms.
Would definitely stay here again!

Great house on Keuka Lake. Rented the cottage for a friends weekend, which this house was perfect for our needs. Plenty of outdoor space with great lake frontage. Dock was a great feature. Boat launch was right down the street as well. Caught a few bass off the dock. House is in good shape. Floors are a little slanted in the kitchen/dining area, but wasn't a concern at all. Overall, I would rent and recommend this cottage.

We had to arrive late in the night, around 11pm. Somewhat difficult to find the property because you can't see the house from the road and Google Maps isn't perfectly accurate. The driveway to the house was covered in leaves and didn't look like a real road. I wish there was more signage from the road to the property. Regardless, the stay was great. The house it self was very clean and cozy. The view to the lake was fantastic, especially in the morning and sunset. Great for a staycation. The drive to the town is tedious, ~15 min to get to the coffee shop. But there is a great vineyard just 6 min away. The amenities in the house are great and a perfect VRBO for 2-4 couples.

We love this property- we have lots of family in the area and we love Keuka Lake! Property is just as nice as the pictures show, we will be back.

Lovely cottage. Great swimming and fishing. Rare lot size for a lake front home. Gorgeous farmhouse decorating. If I had one wish, it would be for screens in all the windows and doors to feel the lake breezes and hear the waves and the crickets at night. Air conditioning is sufficient to keep it cool, but it lacks the lake by ambiance.

We have stayed on Keuka Lake several years in multiple locations. This property is the best location we've had. The flat terrain, parking and lake access are wonderful. The cottage is lovely and and very comfortable. The owners were responsive and interested in us enjoying our stay. We are booked for 2024!

Overall we had a great week at the Birchwood. Very nicely decorated, nice location, nice dock to dock our boat. Great sitting areas outside. Some negatives, the biggest probably being the uneven floor from the living room area to the kitchen/dining. I think everyone in our party tripped a few times, one resulting in a heavy fall. We found no oven mitts (I purchased a couple at the dollar store), no microwave in the kitchen and that was really missed. Instructions said one dishwasher pod for each day of stay but we only had 5. Only had one dish towel that would dry dishes. Outdoor grill was a mess, big grease fire waiting to happen. Had to spend quite a bit of cleaning time. Personally I missed no way to hear the lake early mornings as there were no screens to open windows/doors (but understand the ac issue here).

Boating, swimming, campfires, fishing, game nights at the large farm table, all at Keuka Lake, what could be better. Everyone had a lovely time.

Beautiful cottage and the location is perfect. The cottage was clean and beautifully decorated. The beds were very comfortable. We have been staying at kueka for many years but this is the first time staying on the west side and we decided the west is the best! The seaweed is minimal and it’s not muddy.
The location is within 15 min of nice restaurants and shopping. Our 2 year old grandson had so much fun. Our vacation was amazing despite the smoke from the fires in Canada. We definitely recommend this property !!

Our experience at Birchwood Cottage and Lakeside was absolute perfection!
The property manager was very informative and responsive.
The Cottage and the grounds were impeccably clean and beautifully decorated. We had everything we needed and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We even changed our plans one day to just stay on location! We enjoyed the quiet and beautiful sunrise and sunset lakeside.
If I could give this whole experience an overall rating from 1 to 5, it would receive a solid 100!
Thank you for opening this property for all of us to enjoy!

We loved this cabin! It was clean, cozy, there was plenty of room for all 6 of us and our 2 dogs. Among the kitchen utensils that were available for us, there were even dog dishes (we did bring our own but we thought it was awesome)!!!
Communication was appropriate and accurately described in description. Getting in was easy, buying wood was easily located, the town with restaurants and local shops was only a 1-2 mile drive!
I’m totally going to book again in the future, and I highly recommend this lovely cabin to others!

I booked this for a group of 8 of us for two 30th birthdays. The home was absolutely beautiful! It looked exactly as depicted in the photos, and was immaculate. The decor was perfect, and the host was quick to answer questions when necessary. Would definitely recommend booking!

We stayed here for our 30th wedding anniversary with our family. There was 7 of us all together. The house is decorated “Joanna Gaines” style. It was very homey and clean. The view was beautiful. My son even caught a few fish!!! The wineries and breweries in town were so much fun. We loved all the venues. We will definitely stay here again. The one thing that would make this house perfect, is to have a gas fireplace .

Overall great stay at a great place. Had a few questions while we were there and Drew was quick to respond. It’s a rental and it was end of season so there’s a few things in the kitchen missing and a missing handle here and there. Nothing to distract from another awesome stay at Keuka. Would recommend this spot without reservations.

Thank-you for a wonderful week-end on Keuka Lake. The weather was perfect, we all enjoyed having our coffee on the deck overlooking the lake while watching the sun come up. The kids had fun running and playing in the flat yard and playing along the shore line. The house was very comfortable for the 6 adults and 2 kids who spent time there. The dining, kitchen, living room area was spacious and perfect for game playing, TV watching, and conversation. The location on the west side of the lake was convenient to Hammondsport, Branchport, Penn Yan, and all the wineries and breweries on that side of the lake and Seneca Farms ice cream.
We look forward to coming back again to enjoy your accommodations and the lake when it gets warmer.

We arrived on Friday at check in time. Unpacked our vehicles and made ourselves at home.
Several members of the family realized that logging into the internet was impossible. We decided to turn on the television to verify whether we had internet or not.
There was no connection. After at least several unsuccessful reboots we surmised that there was a problem with the internet.
I texted the owner (Drew) and informed him that the internet and the television were not working.
Drew was responsive and told me he contacted Empire and they would be at the house Friday evening. We waited and no one from Empire showed up.
I texted Drew and conveyed that information. His response to me was I did the best I can do.
We were checking out on Monday morning, Empire shows up.
Come to find out that a internet connector exterior gray box sustained some physical damage and needed replacement.
Apparently this was damaged from a falling branch.
Strange but no branches hit the the house while we were there.
My suspicion is this happened prior to our rental and was never addressed.
Very disappointed this was not repaired prior to our stay or even repaired during our stay.

This home surpassed all expectations with more than enough room for our family A Magazine worthy restoration makes this a fabulous home with small personal touches and too many amenities to list.

We spent a wonderful two weeks at Birchwood Cottage on our annual family Keuka Lake vacation. The yard (back and front) was a perfect place to pitch the volleyball net, play corn hole and laser tag and pass the football. We enjoyed the expansive lake frontage and ability to dock our boat. (Thank you Drew for replacing the old dock boards and cleats!) Our youngest grandchildren are now avid water-skiers, enjoyed fishing, and collecting “sea glass” and crayfish! The cottage itself was lovely and relaxing, beautifully appointed, think Joanna Gaines modern farmhouse!!! The nine of us had plenty of game time in the evening at the long farm table and plenty of space to read quietly and just chill inside. We appreciated the seating outdoors (loved the Adirondack chairs with pillows!), grill and large picnic table. We did bring a straight leg canopy to use as shade off the patio. We encountered a few snags and Drew was a responsive and considerate host. We look forward to our return to Birchwood Cottage in 2023.

Pictures Don’t Do Justice
Birchwood Cottage was the perfect spot for our small family gathering! It’s a feat to get all adult children together once a year and the property was beyond our expectations!
The cottage is roomy, well appointed and functionally superior to most lake spots I’ve rented over 10+ years.
The property inside and out does not disappoint and the pictures do not tell the whole story…it was secluded and quiet…yet close to everything. We typically stay on the East side due to the location of friends cottages but truly enjoyed this spot!
Comes stocked with the beyond the basics…which is so appreciated when you are cooking for a crowd.
Drew was very responsive and checked in to make sure we were comfortable.
Great spot for too many reasons to list!

Family vacation 2022
We fell in love with this lake a couple years ago, and decided to make it our go to for family vacations. Birchwood Cottage surpassed my expectations. It's is in a great location on the lake, not far from stores or marinas. The property is perfect! Lots of off road parking and the large yard for outdoor games . The back patio was decorated lovely with lots of seating, and we had a great time catching huge fish off the dock. There is also an area to launch your kayak or paddle board ect. Last but not least, the interior is so beautiful and very cozy with lots of detail and charm. Also loved having 3 bathrooms! Thank you Birchwood Cottage for helping us make great memories ❤

Great House Perfect Location
Great house with many cute features. Very clean and in the perfect location. Close to wineries, distilleries, restaurants and outside activities. Drew was the perfect host! Checking in with us and leaving us welcome cookies and wine. We will definitely look to book again when we come back to Keuka Lake. Thank you for the perfect weekend!!!

Weekend Getaway
We were the first to stay in the Birchwood Cottage and loved our long weekend away! We had a group of 9. The house was well-decorated and it was amazing being right on the water.
There are a few finishing touches still being updated, such as the installation of a fire pit, so I would check with Drew before booking. Drew was also extremely communicative and addressed any questions or needs in a timely manner. Additionally, there were a few bumps along the way (wi-fi was inconsistent throughout the house, some supplies were low or missing) but these were very minor details in an otherwise outstanding stay/weekend. Would stay again!
