This is a fabulous rental! Comfortable; super clean and everything you need including lots of extras. Kitchen well stocked with supplies, organized with house instructions and suggestions for area, Two decks to enjoy and close to Belfast for restaurants and shopping. Open back yard and views of bay. For those who can navigate the stairs explore the rocky coast at low tide. We brought our kayaks. Quiet area with privacy. Highly recommend!

This property checked all of our boxes and then some. Immaculately clean and very well provisioned, we could see the thoughtfulness put into providing for guests. We brought our own kayaks and paddleboards, and made daily use of the waterfront. Nearby Belfast was fun for shopping and dining. Acadia and Bar Harbor are near enough for daytrips.

This property made everyone happy, including our corgi who did not want to leave the fun backyard and deck area!

This is a wonderful property. Comprehensively equipped, especially in the kitchen. Wonderfully furnished and decorated. Location is quiet with large outdoor spaces. Great shoreline access.
Centrally located for access to Maine coastal sights and activities. A perfect choice for a family or group.

This home exceeded all of our expectations! We loved the beautiful view of Penobscot Bay, the deck, and the private beach. Each morning we enjoyed local coffee given as a gift from the owner before heading out to enjoy the area. This owner provided a thorough notebook filled with possible excursions, restaurants, etc. We hiked in Moose Point State Park and on Sears Island and enjoyed local restaurants and stores in nearby Belfast. We've rented a lot of homes for vacations, but this owner thought of every possible need a renter may have and filled the home with all of those amenities. It was a relaxing and comfortable home and just what we needed to get away from it all. I would recommend this rental without hesitation!

Amazing house with views of the bay. Plenty of space inside and outside of the house. We were able to see seals swimming in the bay and bald eagles in the backyard. In a short 10 minute drive you have the cute town of belfast with shops and restaurants.

We enjoyed being in a quiet area but close to excursions we wanted to take. The beach area was a little disappointing. We thought there might be better fishing from there. Part of it was that we were not aware that the beaches were all rocky. Learning experience for us. Greatly appreciated the prompt replies from the manager when I submitted questions and the fact that he allowed communication via text while we were there! Extremely helpful!

The kitchen was well stocked for cooking-in breakfast and lobster dinners. The house was nicely stocked with paper products, laundry and dish detergents etc... The linens were great which we plan to copy some of these for our own homes. The house offers a lot of beautiful sunlight and views of the Penobscot Bay. We enjoyed wandering along the coastline searching for driftwood. The location was very convenient to many towns and restaurants and Young’s Lobster Pound a favorite of ours. If you are interested in visiting the lobster pound you may consider bringing a small cooler, plastic table cloth, lobster cracker and picks. Penobscot Retreat is a true gem and we will look forward to renting this property again.

Awesome view……daily sights of a family of bald eagles. The house was extremely comfortable and clean. The pool table allow us to re-educate the use of angles from high school geometry!

This home was sunny, bright, and very clean with a great layout, as there was space for everyone to spread out and have some privacy. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed. We ate dinner on the deck almost every evening and enjoyed watching birds--especially the eagles-- from there too. We brought kayaks and did trips right from the private beach, a little rocky but totally manageable. Everyone enjoyed the pool table on rainy afternoons. The host was accessible and helpful, and there were many thoughtful touches throughout the house. I highly recommend this place!

I knew from the pictures that this was on the water and was a beautiful home. But it exceeded expectations. The cleanliness and personal touches throughout the house were appreciated. The deck in the shade at the steps down to the beach was my happy place!

We loved our stay at Penobscot Retreat! The home is one of best appointed properties we have rented for our annual Maine getaways. Extra points for easy proximity to Belfast (a favorite of ours), a very cooperative and photogenic bald eagle, and stunning views of the water. We hated to leave!!

Lovely stay in this beautiful, private spot. The house was spacious, spotless and incredibly thoughtfully appointed. Comfy beds and fabulous climate control AC. Peaceful coffee on the deck, lots of reading, tossing rocks into the inlet, hours of playing pool, and charming sheep at the end of the street. A great central spot for day trips to Bar Harbor and Acadia or quick pop over to Belfast for shopping and seaside dining. The shipyard there was gorgeous and the shop owners so friendly. And Moose Point was a great little walking trail with the nicest Park Rangers. Great stay!

We loved this house! It was clean and comfortable and in a central location for visiting so many places, from Acadia to Rockland. All the windows looking out to the ocean were amazing. There were many convenience items available- coffee, laundry soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, lots of TP and paper towels. Portable fans in each room although the air conditioning works great. We were a three generation group and everyone was really happy here! Highly recommend!!

Just got done with a week stay. Great location. Away from the crowds but an easy drive to visit the sites. Went to Bar Harbor area 3 days but could retreat from that craziness at night. Our beach was great We hunted for sea glass, rocks and shells. The local area was fun with little shops. The house had a great view and ample space. We ended up with 3 people. We originally had 6. It would have been comfortable for any amount in that range. Would stay again!

We were so happy to find this place for two weeks. We would have stayed three if it had been available. It's seldom you actually meet the owners you rent from on VRBO. We did get to meet them and they were delightful folks. We were notified the house was ready for us, and open a few hours ahead of time. We were still on the road so couldn't take advantage of that. First, the place was immaculate. Much of the inside newly painted and shining. Beautiful new deck and new stairs down to the beach. Everything worked exactly as it should. We never even got around to trying out the beautiful billiard room in the basement. So many things that we wouldn't have expected in a rental were there. Easy to work in well-supplied kitchen. Lovely quiet neighborhood, about a minute into town center to stores. Searsport is lovely and quiet, avoiding the tourist clamor of so many shore towns. We would definitely return. We enjoyed staying here but be warned that this property does not have AC. On the hotter-than-usual days and the very humid days, AC would have been most welcome. Otherwise this is a lovely well-equipped home in a great location as a base for day trips.

We have rented several places in this areas over the years, and this was the absolute best!! It was clean and they offered every amenity you can imagine. There was coffee from a local coffee house…. freshly ground. There was extra soap, shampoo, body lotion in a basket in the bathrooms. The view of the Penobscot River is spectacular, especially at sunrise. There is plenty of room for everyone to be together or to go relax by themself in the artist studio or the writer’s nook. There are two wide screen TV’s, if you want to watch during your vacation. I am grateful to have found this wonderful place and will return again next year.

Truly a Retreat while nearby beautiful Maine Mid Coast sites!
Definitely a quiet neighborhood which provided for amazing mornings with coffee and book overlooking the coastline from either the deck atop the stairs leading to the water's edge or from the new deck attached to the home. Evenings and nights provided for restful sleep, as this neighborhood is indeed quiet and tranquil. Home is decorated for both comfort and for bringing artful touches of the ocean indoors. Several of us returned home with ocean treasures to incorporate into our own personal memory Art piece. Exceptionally clean!! The location was ideal for ease of access to various Mid Coast sites. Certainly a location and home we would definitely return to, as Maine offers so many experiences.

A magnificent "Retreat" is exactly right.
We had a wonderful week! The Penobscot Retreat is an immaculately clean and beautiful home with a magnificent view of the Bay. The owners have thought of everything vacationers need to make their visit special - extra toiletries in the bathrooms; extra towels; a fully functional kitchen stocked with spices, pots and pans, containers and baggies for leftovers, etc. The owners have created a detailed and amazingly organized binder that answers any question you could possibly have about the house, the bay, the community, and more. I reached out to the owner during our trip and received an immediate and helpful response from him. When we travel, we like to try new places/experiences each time, but we would stay in this house again in a heartbeat!

Perfect Vacation!
This property in Searsport was perfect for us. It was a short drive to planned activities in Acadia and Boothbay Harbor but the quietness and privacy offered by this home was a great escape from the business of those areas, providing a great balance. We enjoyed many mornings and evenings on the deck or down by the shore. Views from the back side of the house were amazing. This was the cleanest home we have ever rented. The owner seemed readily available for any problems or concerns. Usually we are more than ready to head home but not this time. We enjoyed our first trip to Maine and were very sad to leave.

Pristine in Penobscot Bay
What a wonderful place to relax and explore Maine. Our home was pristine and had everything you could want for a vacation with friends. The house was full of windows facing the bay with beautiful sunrises. There were two Sun filled room to spark your creative juices. One was a room filled with drawing materials and the other was filled with books written by the owner along with writing materials. Charles, the owner was always available for immediate answers to questions. I recommend this home for anyone who's looking for the perfect Maine vacation.
