About this house rental
Start your day on the front porch with a cup of coffee as the lobster boats make their way out into the Gulf of Maine. Or you may choose the more active route with a hike up Pigeon Hill trail to be amongst the first in the US to welcome the new day. Whether your focus is to relax and disconnect, be active and engage, or maybe a little bit of both, this B.Still property has what you need to make that a reality.
The main house consists of two bedrooms with memory foam queen beds, quality linens, and oceans views. The home has two bathrooms, including one with a tub, to wash away the days activity or to take a moment for yourself to relax and reflect. The spacious living room comes equipped with a fireplace and record player making it a perfect spot to take in a cool Maine summer night. Also don’t forget the telescope where you can take in the night sky and maybe get a glimpse of the Milky Way . When dinner time arrives, the family can gather around the large dining room table, or perhaps choose the more casual route with counter seating. Should you want to grab some lobster fresh off the dock and give your own boil a shot, the kitchen has been recently upgraded with quartz counters and stainless appliances and includes everything you would need to cook your lobster feast.
Should you require a little additional space to spread out, the property also has a separate bunkhouse. The suite consists of a queen memory foam bed, high ceilings, all tastefully decorated to give off that Jackson Hole, WY vibe. Also on property is a spacious daybed where you can drink in the views of the bay and a camp grill with equally enviable views. If you want a closer look at that beautiful view, we have two kayaks on site with two adult and one children's life vest.

House is right on the water, well appointed with spectacular views. Quiet area (although the walls in the house are thin- if you happen to be traveling with friends who snore). Great location. Close to hiking trails and a place to buy live lobsters. Fabulous wood sculpture studio right down the road. Lots of places to get lobster rolls and clams nearby. Property Manager Ray was extremely helpful in providing us with excellent tips on where to go and what to see in the area.

We stayed at this location for 7 days but left early (Me, wife, kid, In-law). I understand it was Maine but inside the house even with windows open it was stifling hot (90+ degrees). The location didn't have any fans but the ceiling fan in what would be considered the master bedroom upstairs. We went to Walmart and purchased a couple fans to try and get some circulation. We left the fans onsite, but it seems like the owner could splurge for a couple window units for at least the bedrooms. The owner said that it didn't normally get that hot but when we went to Bar Harbor and I spoke to people there they said it had been that hot in the summer for last 5+ years. So, I don't know what the truth is but if you want AC when you stay somewhere this isn't your place.
The place was clean, and everything worked well, and the scenery was beautiful. The pictures on the profile are a little misleading for the inside but the outside is accurate. Prepare to drive a lot if you plan to visit the tourist spots. Acadia was incredible and crowded so choose your time wisely when going to hike and sight see.
I liked Maine but if I went back in the summer, I would stay somewhere with AC.

There is so much to recommend about this property and there was one major flaw (more about that later). Check in with Ray was very welcoming. He's a fount of information and very responsive. The house is beautifully located on a lovely quiet cove with views out to the open ocean. Surrounded by trees it is very private. The house has some nice updates including bidets in both bathrooms (I'm sure that is better for a septic system), although one was not working. It was perfect for the two of us and our dog. I think it would be tougher for more people, since there is very little seating in the living room and one BA is downstairs at the base of steep stairs. Great location for going back towards Bar Harbor/Acadia or further up the coast towards Machias. Restaurant selection is sparse, but what is there is good to very good. And do at least one dinner at the Treehouse Grill in Winter Harbor. It is excellent! (The charred Spanish octopus is a definite do not miss!) Now for the big BUT. The toilets both were cracked and both of the tanks were filled with black guck (possibly black mold?)! One toilet had gray water in the bowl that had a bad odor. It was gross! I would not recommend booking here until you have a firm confirmation from the owner that toilet the toilets have been replaced and that the tanks are clean and mold free!

We had so much fun and Ray was an amazing host. We enjoyed seaglass hunting outside at low tide, kayaking, watching bald eagles through the telescope, looking for shooting stars on the clear nights, hiking up Pigeon Hill Trail and picking wild blueberries, and visiting all the shops nearby. We created nothing but the best memories this week.

Unbeatable location and view. Superb communication with Ray, our contact for the week, who went above and beyond what we were expecting. Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge trails are a short drive away from the property, and we enjoyed restaurants in Milbridge nearby. Ellsworth also has much to offer. A true "DownEast" Maine vacation!

The property far exceeded our expectations, we had deer walking in the front yard and the ocean was our back yard. If you are looking for the hustle and bustle of the city, this is not where you want to be but if you are looking for a relaxed and rural setting where you can explored Maines rural beauty, this is the house for you! Scott, the owner, was extremely responsive in the booking process and Ray, the property manager went above and beyond to make sure that we had a great stay.Thank you!

The house, the area, the host - so amazing! The house has everything you need and there’s a lot of beautiful attention to details to the interior and the decoration. Ray was very helpful and super nice. The pictures don’t do the house justice - it’s so much nicer in real. All exceeded our expectations.

The photographs don't do the cabin justice, nor does the description give the right amount of praise to the host, Ray.
From the moment we arrived Ray was on hand to provide details, local information, and suggestions. He wasn't intrusive or overbearing - just available when we needed him.
The cabin itself is perfect for a couple or small family. It is RIGHT on the water. There is no "beach", but the rocks are large and perfect for setting up the provided chairs to enjoy the sun and surf. We used the telescope in the house to search the stars. While we were there, Jupiter was prominent and we were able to see 4 of it's moons!
We spent most of the time there on the deck watching the lobster boats, the stars, the surf, and the various wildlife. We saw seals and birds of all kinds, including herons, pelicans, many gulls, and some kind of black duck or loon type of bird fishing the bay.
The location is a little remote - you're about 20 mins away from Milbridge, which is the closest grocery store and fishmonger. You're an hour away from Bar Harbor. But if you want a place to relax, listen to records, watch the ocean and the stars, and enjoy the coast of Maine, this is the place for you.
We added a book (Death in Acadia) and a couple of baking pans to the supplies (I made coffee cake while we were there).
It's a gorgeous property and we didn't have nearly enough time to take full advantage of all it had to offer. We will be back.

The house is in a tranquil and relaxing location right on the water. Watching the lobster boats go in and out was a perfect way to unwind. The house is also in a great location to see local attractions, such as Acadia National Park and the West Quoddy Lighthouse. Ray is great and gave us lots of local info. We will definitely return.

We had a FANTASTIC time!! We enjoyed being right on the water and able to watch the tide rise and go out. Many things were within 1-1.5 hours. Our host Ray was GREAT!!! He had lots of information and some funny stories!!!

We enjoyed our stay so much. So quiet, lots of locals, good food without the crowds. Sitting on the porch watching the moon and the birds and hearing the water lap the rocks was a real treat. The house is super clean and updated, too. Our young adult son stayed in the bunk house, which worked out perfectly. Last but definitely not least, Ray, the property manager, elevated the stay to a whole new level! He listened to our interests and gave us a lot of tips, all of which were spot on. We Love Ray!!!! It was neat to meet someone from Maine who could answer pretty much any question and who made us feel like not just anonymous rental people but a welcome part of Downeast Maine.

We had an amazing week at this property. It very clean, had everything we needed for the week. We loved everything about the house, the view is amazing, (the windows were probably MY favorite feature) quiet and solitude is as well. I cannot say enough good things about the manager, Ray. He was so friendly and kind and full of great information that helped us decide what our plans were going to be.

I can’t say enough about this place. I rarely ever go back to the same place, but I would definitely come back here!

Quite, peaceful with breathtaking sunrises. Ray, the host has all the info on local attractions and places to eat. It is quiet, secluded and you have to travel a bit but it's just what we were looking for.

Quiet and peaceful…the rustic home is a beautiful place with fantastic setup. Away from the crowds but close enough for an easy drive to the sites. I wouldn’t hesitate to book another stay.

My family and I stayed for about a week, and I would absolutely go back.
Most favorite things: the view off the back patio, being able to look at tide pools amongst the rocks once the tide went out, the quiet, and the very helpful, incredibly friendly but not intrusive property manager, Ray, who gave us a great sense of the area and good places to go.
Least favorite: it was very hot a couple of the days we were there, which made sleeping in the upstairs rooms a bit uncomfortable. We're on the larger size so the beds were a bit snug but that's not the fault of the property, just something to be aware of.

The home was exactly like it was portrayed online. We had absolutely everything we needed at the house. Ray checked in with us and was very helpful in giving tips and hints as to things to do. His honesty was very much appreciated. He was quick to respond if we texted with a question or concern. Would definitely recommend this location to friends bd would gladly stay here again.

The seclusion and location of this property make this property an idyllic and iconic Maine Harbor experience. Ray has thought through many details from decor to a cottage handbook that gave many helpful suggestions from places to see in the area to good dining options.
The cottage was in great shape and was extremely clean and comfortable. Ray was also very good at communicating and listening to feedback. We would definitely consider recommending this place to others who are looking for a true Maine coast experience.

This was our first visit to Maine and it was made even better by this beautiful property. The back deck was our favorite place. Thank you for sharing this amazing property.

This place is absolutely stunning. It is as clean as a whistle and easy to find. Ray, the property manager, is as good as gold. Unbelievably helpful and knows the area inside and out. All of his recommendations were spot-on. We did miss not having a microwave though. And the bunk house is charming and very comfortable. Be forewarned though—it has no shades or blinds, which would be much appreciated! The property is secluded, but it would be nice to close some blinds. There is no cable for the television. You must stream through your own apps—which was doable, yet still a nuisance. We were a party of three adults over 65 and these comments are from us all. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thanks again to Ray!

The view was incredible. Other than a very pleasant bunk house, that's where the positive experience ends. The building has structural issues. There's significant settlement problems. Only half of the doors closed including the two bathroom doors. There's a very noticeable sag in the middle of the roof. There was no microwave oven. The place was a fair distance from anything and virtually no restaurants or bars in the vicinity.

Our stay was everything we could ask for. Comfortable accommodations, secluded spot, outstanding views from almost every room in the house, a front porch with a view to pure Maine and close to great hiking trails.

The photos of this place are incredible. The reality is even better!
The views off of the porch are available to the entire living area (we've never had a better view doing the dishes!) and the two bedrooms upstairs. It's tidy and easy to keep clean. The bungalow was perfect. It's really quiet, aside from a crow, some squirrels, and the occasional lobster boat. The bay was really calm--making the kayaks especially useful. The fire pit was a surprise and had a whole different vibe. The rocky shore was so much fun to flip rocks and look for crabs. Ray met us and set us up easily.
We love Schoodic and Petit Maman. This is ideal for those destinations. Bar Harbor is an easy drive but we didn't feel the need.
We hope to be back as soon as possible.
Thank you!
PS-We donated an oyster knife. Be sure to use that after an easy drive to Chipman's.

We had an absolutely wonderful time in Maine! It all began with Ray calling us on our way in to let us know most places close at 7 so we should either stop and eat or grab something to make when we got in. Ray then stopped over with maps and local suggestions on what to do while we were in town. His local knowledge was awesome and we based a lot of what we did on his suggestions. The house and bunk house really met all of our needs. The beds were extremely comfortable, the house was clean and very well appointed. It was absolutely amazing to sit on the porch and watch the seals hunt, seeing eagles and other birds flying around, and the amazing sky at night. Thank you for sharing your house!

As others have said, the pictures don't do this property justice. The setting is private and glorious, with the house abutting the rocky shoreline and beautiful woodlands on either side. The house itself was spotless and comfy -- perfect for our family of three and our dog. We appreciated all the tucked away spots outdoors -- like the firepit in a perfect wooded spot with a view of the water, the picnic table nestled by pine trees at the side of the house, and the long driveway with multiple grassy areas for our dog to roam. And our teenager loved having the bunkhouse as her own private hangout space. The peninsula has some great hiking trails -- and a lovely family-run puffin tour company -- and is a short drive to the breathtaking Schoodic portion of Acadia.
The property manager Ray is a true joy and a wealth of information on the area. (Thanks, Ray!!) And the owners were friendly and very easy to communicate with. We can't say enough about this special spot, and we hope to get back soon!

The home is tucked in off the main road, quiet, secluded with plenty of nature around.
Right on the water the view from the porch is breathtaking from morning to night.
Very clean, and spacious enough for our family of 5.
Ray the property manager was so helpful and friendly, helped us with the areas must see’s and do’s.
We will be definitely be back.

The most beautiful view
The cottage has a perfect view of the bay and ocean and has everything you need to relax and unwind. My teenage son was able to stay in the bunk house which allowed for more peace between his sister and him. The location could not be better for enjoying Acadia and for getting fresh seafood. The peninsula even has a wildlife reserve and beautiful set of trails. The fire pit, which also has a view of the water, gave us a chance to make s’mores one evening. It was all just so lovely.

Perfect place to relax
We were pleasantly surprised by the property, the photos don't do it justice. Our week long stay went really smoothly, with no issues. Our teens appreciated the good internet connection and we loved sitting out on the deck contemplating life while watching the lobstermen do their thing. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Lovely week in early summer
This is a beautiful home right on the rocky coast of Maine. Our family had an amazing week kayaking, hiking nearby trails and the Schoodic peninsula, relaxing on the porch, and geocaching. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking at home, especially the amazing seafood we bought at Chipman’s Wharf. (The seafood, grocery, and Mexican take out place are only 10 min away.) McClellan Park in nearby Milbridge was great place for a picnic and afternoon scrambling on the rocky shore. We had a great time!

In one word - perfect!
The house was absolutely as expected…..wonderful location, excellent amenities and provided a true Maine experience. It’s located approximately an hour from Acadia National Park but provided a lovely respite after a long day of hiking and crowds and well worth the travel back and forth. We unfortunately were not lucky enough to get a car pass for sunrise view from Cadillac Mtn but didn’t need one……the view from the back porch provided some spectacular sunrises that could be enjoyed privately :). Property Manager, Ray, was a wealth of knowledge and provided guidance, maps, and binoculars! Overall, the best VRBO experience so far…….I plan on returning again and wouldn’t stay anywhere else :).
