Once in a while one lands on a genuine gem of a hotel. This is certainly one. An enormous amount of care and hard work has gone into its refurbishment and ethos. The room we had was beautifully laid out with everything you might need. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom excellent. The highest praise must be for the staff and the food. The food is simply outstanding. Innovative, creative but not at all fussy and above all delicious. The staff seem to share a joint passion for the place and what it stands for. Impeccable.

The Blind Bull is a little out-of-the -way. Make the effort because it is worth it. A stunning property in a beautiful location combined with an extremely talented brigade de cuisine serving local cuisine, ably assisted by helpful front of staff allow the ‘pub’ to rise well above the ordinary.
Try the Arnold Bennett Omelette for breakfast-exquisite.

Lovely pub, fantastic sunday dinner, friendly and kind staff. The rooms and decor in are top spec and lovely.
Although advertised as such if you look closely enough, the pub was closed Mon-Weds and we stayed Sun-Mon night. So no breakfast was served Tues morning. However that was not that much of a disappointment as the breakfast was a disappointment to us. I had something called 'Bath Chap' which was an attempt to replicate a cooked breakfast - it was one of the worst cuts of pork I have ever tasted and it was very unpleasant to eat. I also had to ask for an egg as it wasn't served and no toast was provided. I know the restaurant has it's own style but in my view, providing a good quality full English would have made this stay perfect, and it what most people like and expect.

Staff in the pub/restaurant were all, without exception, excellent - couldn't be more accommodating. Everyone was also very understanding about one of our dogs, who is very excitable and a bit of a barker! The food was absolutely delicious, particularly the vegetarian options, so much so we ate in the restaurant both nights and then enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast before we left. It was also really nice to talk to the chef, who came out for a chat with us after our first meal. Loved his very friendly dog too! Our room was also very comfortable, beautifully clean and all new fixtures and fittings. We will definitely be back for our next hiking trip to the Peaks!
Nothing - couldn't fault this place.

Quite simply, one of the most wonderful places I've ever stayed in. The rooms are brand new, spatious, comfortable and quiet. The food is simply sublime. I cannot rate this place highly enough.
The ONLY criticism, is that it is in the middle of nowhere. But the benefits of the Blind Bull completely make you forget!

One of the best appointed rooms I have stayed in - spacious and contemporary in a wonderful setting.
Good breakfast and friendly staff.
Good wine.
Disappointing evening meals given such wonderful local food available - a lot of flavours on the plate.

The rooms are new and stylishly finished - they are really spacious and the bathrooms / showers in particular are superb.
We were unlucky to go on a Monday as the pub/restaurant was closed and we would have liked to try it, (it looks like it will be great) but will do so the next time we are in the region.
The establishment is in the countryside, which we really enjoyed, but we had to drive to the next village to get lunch / dinner, so that should be taken into account when booking.
All in all, this is a superb place to stay in the Peak District and we will certainly be back when we have more time.
Not much!

lovely location and the rooms are fitted out very well
there’s a little disconnect between accommodation and the restaurant, especially on a Sunday night when everything closed early. some experimental menu items not quite cohesive

The coffee was really well brewed and the location is amazing at any time of the year. The whole restoration of the building has been tastefully done and each room has its own charm. We were offered a ground floor garden room but opted for one in the eaves as it felt cosier. Lovely local walks if you have the chance. Staff were very friendly.
Don't expect any help with your bags up the stairs, and the breakfast lacked character and was a little mean. The rooms are so well done but just lack the soft touch. Maybe some blankets, a feature wall with some colour to give it the sense of a home from home? Just needs the finishing touch.

Dinner was great, location is great, pub was really nicely designed, staff were great.
The room was lower quality than we had hoped based on the price. The Italian walk in shower flooded the bathroom & main room due to the floor not being angled enough for it to drain, there was a green light that seemed to be a security light which was on all day & night. During the day it wasn't an issue but at night it was so bright that we had to cover it up each evening to go to sleep. Small things like being provided with water jugs to fill up but they couldn't fit in the sink to actually fill them up, it felt like things hadn't been thought through and the attention to detail was missing. This is a new business and all of the above are easy to fix, it was just a shame the attention hadn't been put on making the rooms the same experience as the restaurant. I'd booked this as a birthday surprise for my partner as a special treat so each of these issues reduced the overall quality of our trip and we left disappointed.
Something else to note is that the food is amazing and very much an experience. Breakfast has a choice of 4 dishes and you're served pastries along side this. I had hoped for more variety at breakfast as I found the food delicious, but quite rich to have every morning.

Location and setting was just what we were looking for and the fact it was dog friendly was an added bonus. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had breakfast and dinner at the property both nights, food was excellent.

Spacious, clean and with many touches of luxury. The room was larger than expected and yet felt perfectly cosy. Outside space was an unexpected delight. The pub has such a great atmosphere, food is exceptional and the team are very polite and helpful.
