Friendly and professional staff. Amazing hotspring experience.

Perfect dinner and a good service at the reception. Changing from a Japanese bedroom to a European bedroom solved with no discussion. Good connection with public busservice in front of the hotel.

The staff provided excellent service. The hot springs were beautiful and relaxing. Both the dinner and breakfast meals were plentiful, served in a nice semi-private setting, and offered items that were unique.
My only complaint is that there was an unpleasant smell in the area. I believe may have been sulphur from the hot springs. It was not only at the property, but also at other places we visited in the area.

A nice hotel that gives the real adventure of traditional Japanese style - sleeping, eating and usingt he onsen. We liked it though it was enough for two nights (more than that would be chalenging for western family with kids)

Decent hotel with nice forest with cascading river. The Onsen is excellent. However breakfast was disappointing, very basic and not worth

Hotel was good, about 10 minutes drive to the bus station to Kamikochi. The osen is probably the best feature of the hotel. Breakfast was disappointing compare to other Japanese styled hotel we been at. We booked the room with breakfast and was given a western style breakfast, we wanted the Japanese breakfast but couldn't communicate due to language barrier. One other downside was the wifi, never worked for us during our stay. The wifi was not password protected but none of our mobile devices were able to join. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel.

The check in service was wonderful, very speedy and informative. The view is gorgeous and the food spread was wonderful for dinner. It would have been nice to have a western choice for breakfast maybe. The room is nice and big for the family. The outdoor onsen was a bit old and dirty.

Several different Onsen, including 2 or 3 that allowed for both women and men to share at the same time. Staff was great. Hotel restaurant was excellent

Very great service. Accommodated late check in with a smile. Very nice amenities. Make sure to communicate what you would like in advance.

The hotel is on the hill. Difficult travel and onsen are not free.
I feel very bad. room price not include onsen fee.
No room preparation. Don't think to come again.

The onsen is awesome, however due to weather the rain dampen the mood. But the outdoor baths are still availble regardless. Good find, mostly the locals will be frequent the place. Need to come with your our car.

Really excellent hotel and hot spring amenities. Very clean. Very good service. Almost like a ryokan, but without heavy price tag. Have affordable restaurant onsite so food is not a problem. Also the restaurant does vegetarian. Love wearing the kukata around hotel and sleeping. Great location and bus stop right outside or can get a more frequented stop 10 min away.

The drive from Takayama to this Onsen hotel was a little tough due to the low visibility after sunset in winter. Narrow & winding road was covered by snow, and need extra care. However the destination itself, Garden Hotel Yakedake really impressed me, the they have common bath, open air Onsen plus open air mixed bath (man & woman together) however, after 10pm, the mixed open air bath only open to lady for safety reasons. The dinner was generous which they serve Hida Beef along with Kaiseki course. Even though there isn’t much activities or shopping nearby, their souvenir shop was quite impressive as well. Overall a thumb up.

its a nice hotel. But, we were 5 in our room, very small for us. It would be nice , if theres
More menu in the restaurant. We ate outside.
Onsen was very beautiful- the design , the cave.

Enjoyed the 5 days stay. A little longer drive to get to attractions but well connected. Nice onsen and karaoke in the old train. Clean and neat. Amazed at how tidy staff upkeep the place. Enjoyed the rice tea in cozy tearoom.

Nice soak away from everything. nice size room enough for 4 adults. It's better to have room with included meal plan. There is an additional a la carte restaurant on site.

Outrageous!
Everything was ok until we found out some spa pools (especially the rental spa pools we paid for) are open for public that a walk path is located behind.
I don't think the staff there would let their family try the outdoor spa there.

Very nice hot springs, especially the mixed pool. However, the water is a bit cold for the ladies outdoor pools. Though the service was slow, the Indian curry set dinner was very tasty and value for money. Location wise, you can only catch the public bus or taxi to reach the hotel. Shame that the hotel does not have its own bus to receive guests at Hirayu.Overall, it is a very enjoyable stay.
