Good location, although a little difficult to find. Parking wasn't on site but provided free parking a short walk away. 30 minutes parking outside the hotel. Only disappointment was they didn't open for evening meals. Breakfast was excellent.

Friendly welcome, clean comfortable room, great coffee machine in the room with 2 pods per person plus tea bags. Bathroom compact but clean and had a great shower.
Good choice of breakfast and quality of food items.

From the outside it looks like a traditional pub but what a surprise when you go inside. The bar and restaurant is light, airy and modern. Staff are super friendly and accommodating. The two flights of stairs to the rooms are challenging but the hotel does warn you at booking so cant complain. The room itself was clean with large ensuite bathroom. My only complaint was the lack of bedroom furniture. There were no drawers and the only hanging space was an industrial looking pipe situated over the kettle and coffee maker. There was space for a wardrobe so why not put one in. We did have a great weekend Louth is a lovely market town and the locals are very welcoming

Lovely place to stay. Right in the centre of Louth. Breakfast was excellent.

Second time I have stayed here so I already knew about the car park a few hundred metres away, so went straight there. The addition to when I stayed last time was the benefit of evening food. Basically Tapas which was great with a good range of options. Room was spacious and very well equipped including a Nespresso coffee machine. Comfy bed and great shower. Staff were excellent too. Will be back.

Nice hotel in centre of the town. Nicely furnished and nice toiletries. Staff really friendly and place felt relaxed. Position means you’re straight in the town which was quiet at night and you can walk everywhere. I found a little spot to eat which was very nice just down the road but there were multiple options. My only quibble was that as an old hotel it didn’t have air con on what was a very hot day. They did leave the window open and a big fan which helped.

We arrived at the property at 7.40pm expecting to eat dinner. We were met by the only employee on site who said that he was just about to try ringing us as his shift was about to finish and he would be locking up at 8pm. We asked about food and we were told that no food was available after 3pm. Amazing for a 4star hotel reputed to be the best in Louth!
I should say that the employee concerned was helpful in advising us where to get food and he gave us a front door key. We did find something suitable in good time.

Great service from staff.

Good stay, I was in room 4.
Overall would have preferred a hotel who served breakfast from 7:30am instead of 8am.

Room was very nice clean and new decent size

Great hotel but restaurant closes at 5, only bad thing. But that being said there is loads of good restaurants within walking distance. The car park is a bit of a walk though, minimum 5 mins

The mason arms is a great hotel.
I stay in alot of hotel's due to work and this is one of the better ones. Being a non chain the room's are stylish and characterful at the same time.
I had an old fire place in my room!
Nespresso coffee machine!
Excellent shower, very powerful, could have stayed in there for hours.
A minor negative, no onsite parking, however a few council car parks within a 5min walk and hotel can issue free parking.
If you have a lot of luggage you could drive to front of hotel, off load and then park up I guess.
A slightly bigger negative, the bar and restaurant closed at 5pm (a little strange for a hotel), but Louth has loads of great bars and restaurants so enjoyed a stroll around in the evening.
Also breakfast doesn't start till 8, so not great if you need to be gone prior to. 7 would be a better time to start.
Still wouldn't put me off staying again!

First, the staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The place was clean. The bed was comfortable.
You must understand this place was built over 120 years ago - it still has some of that charm, and the rest seems to have been updated piecemeal, as the need has arisen.
So far, so as expected. But the restaurant hours are a little bizarre - they basically don't serve evening meals. OK, there are plenty of places in Louth, I suppose - weather permitting.
But watch out for the shower tap that comes off in your hand, or the broken flush on the toilet.
I guess you could say the place is packed with eccentric charm, but you know what? I may even risk another stay!

No car park on site * I think it’s really important to be transparent about the amenities of a hotel within the listing to advise the person that is booking what is available.
As a solo female business travelling , I choose hotels with car parks , however this hotel do not have a car park. They let you use a council which is around a 5 min walk away across town. For me personally ,To feel safe I always book to have a car park so I don’t have to find my way in the dark alone once I have arrived.
Jess on reception was lovely and walked back with me from the car park but it’s just my one non negotiable. I did discuss this with the hotel and they said it’s hotels.com that have caused this due to not being able to state that it’s not on site. I think morally it should be removed from the page to help others.

Our room was spotless, the bedding and towels were very good. The bed was very comfortable and our room was quiet. The Masons Arms is convenient for the town centre and parking. The only negative point was that we could not have breakfast earlier than 8am.

Room was nice and clean , bed comfortable. And overlooked the shops .
We could do the stairs , some people might not be able to climb the stairs to the room
Gentleman on the desk was polite and friendly.
Breakfast was enjoyable , helpful staff
An enjoyable stay .

The rooms are spacious and well equipped with plenty of 3 pin and usb power points. Being a coffee snob and working in my room until late it was great to have a Nespresso coffee machine available. Great shower with nice toiletries. The only gripe is that it states there is "free on site parking." there isn't! You have the use of a car park a few minutes walk away, which the reception desk registers you for, however the information on the web site is mis-leading and a bit of an inconvenience when you have a lot of luggage to take back and forth to the car each day over a three night stay? The other big disappointment was that although it has a restaurant, they do not serve food past 6pm. There is a burger place to the back, which is part of the hotel, but the food comes in takeaway packaging?

Very helpful and friendly staff who rearranged bookings so that a bath was available.

Disappointing would be nice to have a mini bar in the room due to the bar closing so early.
Breakfast was also not great, my poached eggs were undercooked on my eggs florentine. After sending it back when my replacement came it was awful the egg were hard the muffin was so tough I couldn’t cut it. I was very disappointed
The bed definitely needs changing as it’s definitely seen better days and the pillows are as flat and hard as a concrete floor.
We travel a lot and this hotel definitely needs some TLC

Stayed for three nights, only issue was I had a font room and the market was set up from 6am on the Wednesday morning, very noisy. Not the hotels fault but if staying on a Tuesday night request a rear room! Breakfast service was also slow, not busy and over 30 minutes wait on all three days. Food very good though.

Good breakfast, quiet rooms. Our room was very hot during July stay although a freestanding fan was provided in room which helped at night. The bathroom was very small and narrow which made washing/showering difficult and the sink was minute and with the soap dispenser immediately over sink it was extremely difficult to wash and clean teeth.

We found the overall stay very easy and the staff could not of been more helpful. We would not hesitate to stay here again .It is a very nice location and we felt very well looked after .

Very friendly welcome, room 5 comfortable but noise from bar opposite and music kept us awake until 00.45. As it was hot and we needed to open the bedroom window.
Will not be staying again.

Unable to access hotel as road blocked off. Parking was 1/4 mile away in public car park. Room was on 2nd floor with no lift and we had lots of luggage. Worst of all, bar/restaurant closed at 6pm as they only operate through the day!! We had to find something to eat/drink in the town on a Monday night.
Why did this place get 9.2 rating out of 10?????
On plus side, room was comfortable and staff were friendly.

Really lovely hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was very clean and modern.
Delicious breakfast with decent coffee options. If we ever find ourselves in Louth again, it would be without hesitation we'd stay again.

We had a good stay but was informed that due to kitchen refurb there was no meals on the first night but this was also the case on the second night. on leaving we mentioned this but was informed that they did not do meals at night. if we were informed of this then we would never have booked the stay as we struggled to get a meal on the Tuesday as most places were shut.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Dining room closed due to a function that evening but I was offered recommendations in walking distance. Excellent soundproofing and couldn't hear a thing.

Lovely hotel right in the middle of Louth. Bedrooms are big and really nicely decorated and kitted out. Bathroom was spacious too. To top it all, one of the best hotels breakfasts ever.

Checking in closes at 8.00pm. I advised the hotel I would arrive at 8.00pm and then had to walk to the hotel, so I arrived at 8.05pm. Ben waited for me to give my keys directly, to the room and hotel front door. Which was great.
I asked for a iron/ iron board and Ben fetched both and brought them to my room.
Breakfast was excellent with good quality ingredients. Served by Ben.

Lovely hotel, given a warm albeit a little awkward (the previous guest hadn't returned the key) welcome. As lovely as the hotel is, with great potential and friendly staff, our stay went downhill from there.1st morning we ordered breakfast, although relaxed I thought 30+ minutes was a little excessive to wait, when it did arrive we were served salmon instead of bacon, it was dealt with promptly although did extend the wait further. My husband ordered firm yolk, perfect, I ordered mine as normal, unfortunately I had to scrape some of the uncooked egg white out. We went out for the day, on our return, approx 4pm, the room had not been serviced, we weren't fussy about clean towels or the bed being made, but clean coffee cups, replenished coffee and toilet paper were required, on visiting reception, this was dealt with promptly. Night 2 (saturday), horrendous, the hotel is situated next to a micro-pub, which played very loud music until the early hours, which inevitably we had to close the window (in an already warm room). My husband phoned the out of hours emergency number (the hotel is unmanned at night) to ask advice and allow them to listen to the noise pollution we were experiencing, there was no reply on the EMERGENCY number. It was dealt with the following morning, where a £40 goodwill gesture was refunded.Breakfast 2, ordered firm yolk to prevent repeat of previous morning. My egg white was so burnt I couldn't cut through it. Over 30+ mins again.
