Very average motel type digs.

Excellent staff and value for money. Great restaurant and modern clean room.

It was only for 1 night but we enjoyed every minute of the stay, the room was comfortable, clean and modern. The restaurant was excellent both in the evening and at breakfast. The staff were also very pleasant and obliging.
2.5
Excellent service , easy check in and out - good size rooms - good food
Perfect location for Mighty Hike Coastal walk from Alnwick

Bedroom was comfortable enough but faced the A1 and the sound insulation was inadequate to keep the traffic noise out.
Breakfast menu was fine but they ran out of some dishes given the number of guests they had which was poor.
Evening menu was limited and the extra fries we ordered were cold, hard and not cooked enough. We had to send them back. We were not offered an automatic refund for this and I had to get it deducted on check out which they did.
In short, it was an adequate hotel but they really need to up their game on the catering and sound insulation in the bedrooms.

Excellent customer service and staff went above and beyond call of duty

Check in was very efficient and business like. Room clean and comfortable. Restaurant and bar good, if rather impersonal. Good, typical pub food. Very good breakfast. Would stay here again

We mostly enjoyed our stay here! Loved the decor of the "lobby"/restaurant. The patio was lovely as well. The food was pretty good, and most of the staff was friendly. It's not Harry Potter themed at all despite the name, wish they at least had some sort of butterbeer variation on their menu, that'd do well given Alnwick Castle being so close by! Speaking of which, the hotel is a bit of a jog from all the sights to see in Alnwick so prepare to walk a lot, use a car or use the hotel bus if its during tourist season. The immediate surrounding area of the hotel is not very charming (gas station, business parks, fast food, highway) so you won't be hanging around there very much. The young lady that initially greeted us was a bit gruff and not very friendly, but the gentleman later in the day was very friendly and helpful. There was no air conditioning (that we could find) in the room, but we were able to open the window and that helped a bit.

Great 2 night stay, room was very large and clean, breakfast was excellent, evening meals were reasonably priced and good quality.

Decent breakfast with lots of good options for a variety of palettes. Reasonably situated near Alnwick castle. Sainsbury’s and M&S within walking distance and Aldi if you’re up for a longer walk.
Tea/coffee and biscuits in the room were a nice touch. A microwave and mini fridge would be a great addition.
Better ventilation in the toilets is a must !
2.5
Great room and very nice breakfast. Good food In restaurant but be warned- vegetarian side dishes fried in fryer used for fish so NOT vegetarian.

Bit of traffic noise off the A1
2.0
It’s a great location with large comfortable rooms and comfortable bed. The restaurant and bar service was poor due to lack of staff to meet needs of busy bar & restaurant. Very busy and noisy M1 close by, with fast EV charger nearby

Just off the A1 near Alnwick, though not close enough to stroll into town. Reasonable rooms although a bit too hot for comfortable sleeping. some traffic noise if you opened the windows. Good for overnight stay with superb help yourself breakfast with fresh orange juice and good coffee. Pillows on the bed were a bit hard.

Always stay with work.. Staff are great and always very helpful and polite..
Foods your usual pub grub.. Not much to complain about to be fair.

The young lady on the desk couldn’t have been more helpful and the room was really big and really nice.

Good location to tourist sites. Friendly staff, good customer service.

Nice big room in a nice new hotel not far from the centre

The hotel is very conveniently situated for touring the Northumbrian Coast and villages. Situated just off A1 it is quite noisy outside but once inside, there is no traffic noise. The room was a good size and very clean. It was also well equipped. The hotel is also very dog friendly , although I think £15 per night, per dog is a bit on the high side.
Not keen on the Self-check in, its always nice to be welcomed at the reception desk when arriving but that's a personal preference.
The staff were very pleasant and friendly.
Menu options were a bit disappointing for vegetarians but I didnt starve! 😂
2.0
Very pleasant staff, if anything needed it wasn't a problem.
Breakfast was very good, plenty of choices. We ate in on an evening ,but menu was limited, a choice of salad dishes would have been nice instead of chips with nearly everything. Overall a pleasant stay.

Very good location close to A1. Easy to find. Good restaurant with bar meals on site make it an excellent place to stay.
2.0
Good sized room and bed. Restaurant had good variety of food on offer and staff friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

The Hogs Head Inn was a great place to stay to explore Northumberland, with convenient bus and train connections to the beach and historic sites. Staff were very helpful, the breakfast was ample and delicious as were dinner selections. I will seriously consider related hotels when returning to the UK.

We thought the rooms were very clean, practical and the beds were very comfortable. As a party of two couples we thought that the only two things we thought that could be improved on were the signs leading to check in from out side the building and also that the breakfast times were highlighted on a larger sign. When we booked in we were very travel weary and did not notice at the check in desk a small sign saying that breakfast finished at 9.30am. Most hotels have breakfast finishing at 10.00am. Inevitably when we turned up for the buffet breakfast at 9.20am, most of it was gone. However, it was centrally placed for the areas we visited and we would definitely stay again!

Overall our stay was very good.
However I think the menu prices are very expensive.

Great stopover hotel outside of Alnwick, just off the A1. The rooms are very generous in size with comfortable beds. Staff were helpful with regards to breakfast as there was a large group staying as well.

The stay was good. Unfortunately the room I was given had really bad WiFi signal. Otherwise a great place to stay.

Lovely, friendly staff and all our meals were very good. Our spacious room was quiet and clean although there was unfortunately a stain on the bed sheets and we found the bed rather too firm for our liking. The inn is a lovely building, about a 30 minute walk into Alnwick, located behind a garage and close to a supermarket. There anre cc security cameras around the car park. Although we had a pleasant stay, we were very disappointed that our 2 night booking did not include an evening meal as we thought, due to a complex booking system. Our advice would be to book directly with the inn, not through a third party, if you want the best deal.
2.5
Great stay, lovely and comfortable rooms, location is spot on for the beautiful sights of Alnwick. Would definitely stay here again.
Excellent pub food, try the burger, it was amazing.
2.5
A good room with breakfast included. Lovely and very hard working staff. It was extremy reasonable at the price. I will definitely book again at one of their hotels.
My only request, a few more healthy items on the menu (it was too cold for salad).

Overall had a good stay here, and would recommend to family.

A really nice hotel. We stayed one night in a family room (family of 4 with 2 teenage girls). The room was spacious and well laid out. It was clean and modern. Both check in and check out were quick and easy and the staff were really friendly.
We used the hotel restaurant and bar which was super convenient after 2 weeks of travelling.
All in all this place far exceeded our expectations and we would absolutely stay here again if we come back to Alnwick.

Hotel was nice and clean. Service was very poor in the restaurant. It took over 40 minutes to get our meal which was then incorrect. When the amended meal was chased, the server was very rude and confrontational. In addition, the food was very expensive. V disappointed.
2.5
Plenty of parking. Rooms spacious and modern with king size beds. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Large pleasant bar / restaurant and the food was good.
2.5
Lovely Stay. Very helpful and friendly Staff. Room very clean and Comfortable
