Food and service in restaurant was good - main bar is cold and soulless Room service options are very poor - I settled for cold soggy chips and awful garlic mushrooms (inedible) - the cost to use the pool is absolutely outrageous - will be going back to the park plaza from now on, so much better

The Parkgate is my home away from home. Unfortunately, due to the recent storm, we couldn't return home safely. So this was a last-minute emergency stay.
Ryan was in front of the house, and as always, he was friendly and caring, and despite it being a very busy weekend, he was able to meet our needs.
The day/night wasn't like our usual relaxed stays, but we still enjoyed being in a safe, warm, calm friendly, and beautiful hotel.
Thank you and we will see you soon I'm sure.

Unique, exclusive and lovely for rugby fans

Fantastic location, room, spa and staff. If the hotel breakfast quality, variety and coffee could be improved it would be perfect.

Ours was only a one night stay so i didnt have to catch my usual train home.
Exceptional stay and are goibg to stay again.
Could not fault nothing.
The xmas lunch was on tbe pricey side but as a one iff was a treat.
I should have mentioned to waitress that lunch although very tasty was lukewarm.
No complaints from me otherwise

My rating overall is based purely on my experience as a disabled person using a mobility aid.
The doors in corridors etc do not open both ways, doors opened towards me and I needed to use both doors. I was frequently stuck not being able to get through the door.
I need to wait for other guests to come out if the lift to help.
The staff are exceptionally good. Customer service is excellent.
I still feel a charge for the pool on a high priced room is a bit tight.
On my visit which was Sunday to Monday I was told there was no room at the pool.
Which is not that good.
Our booking was to use these facilities.
It is a very well run hotel.

It was absolutely marvellous! The housekeeping ladies were so lovely and helpful, which really made our stay extra special. Definitely worth the 4-hour journey!

Another wonderful evening at the Parkgate Hotel (even though it was not all for fun)
We had an arranged early check-in from Richard, which was a huge blessing and very much appreciated as it was a busy weekend.
We had a small plumbing issue in our room, but the staff worked quickly (as always) to have someone come look at the issue, and they were able to resolve the problem without any interruption.
The rooms are always beautiful, clean and very comfortable. The Sorting Room and Bar are always a treat, and the staff work tirelessly to bring you a delicious and comfortable experience.
Our children are always welcome with open arms, and they are made to feel just as special and comfortable.
Simply cannot ask for anything more.
I look forward to returning this coming week for my birthday and another weekend for an all girls Wicked adventure, because you can't ask for a better to celebrate life.
Thank you, Parkgate

A very clean hotel in a fantastic location. On arrival we were booked in by a helpful and friendly concierge, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast staff were polite and very helpful. We will definitely be returning.

Amazing staff, hotel tried its best and was beautiful overall. How ever I was shocked by the price of a glass of wine! Ridiculous! I am a local of the sister hotel and we get discount being local… but I think local and STAYING should have discount.
Loved the room, view etc….. it was only the next day I saw the room wasn’t as perfect as I first thought….. there was a medium stain on the carpet…. I informed the hotel as I think think they would be appalled

This hotel is in a perfect place to watch a game at the Principality stadium, even though there's no carpark! Carpark is opposite the hotel but price is extortionate! Only wish the gotel could provide discount for parking.

We had a wonderful stay at the Parkgate. The interior decor and presentation is sumptuous and stylish. But there’s substance also with the hotel offering warm, friendly and attentive service. Special mention to Chloe for being a fabulous host and particularly attentive which tops off the professionalism of the team.

Wicked staff, lovely hotel.

My only complaint is about the breakfast. They now have self serve coffee machines which provide awful tasting coffee. Lots of guests cueing! I used to love the strong pot of coffee served to you by the staff. I had to ask for a pot as the machine coffee was so awful.
Lack of nice bread. Hard fried eggs and anaemic looking mushrooms and no crispy bacon.
Will not book breakfast with my stay again.

The delightful staff appear to have to upsell at every opportunity as how else do you get people into a premium (luxury? not quite) hotel with no parking, limited access, on an unfashionable back street with 'city views' car parks, or the back of another building, or the side of a rugby stadium. The room rate is reasonable for a premium hotel but you DO NOT get access to the facilities and you'll be asked to pay for anything that is not the bed in your room. And the app that they almost force you to download is incompetent at best (lots of 404 errors) and misleading statements like each guest gets 45 minutes access to the pool (you don't – that's £30 each. So... another £60 on your room for a dip. Yep, it's that kinda place). Lovely helpful staff in a hotel that wants to be luxury but is doomed to offload rooms at a lower price as it is in the wrong place and will upsell every single. Although, the black out curtains were awesome – the sleep was good.

I arrive and was greeted immediately, no more than 5 minutes and i got my keys, the room had a view to the stadium, it was quiet, well spacious, clean and have a kettle and a range if teas and coffee. It was perfect

What more can I say! They surpassed our expectations, and we had a beautiful and warm welcome. After having shared a personal story and meeting with the General Manager Damien, our love for the Parkgate has just grown.
Richard (Guest Services) has checked us in on many occasions, and he is such a lovely man, always helpful and caring.
We had a lovely few hours in the bar, enjoying a few drinks, and a great selection of non alcoholic drinks, which I really appreciate. Live music was lovely, although we didn't hear much of it due to the loud wedding party, but it was fine (besides who doesn't love a wedding).
I always forget to take note of the housekeeping staff, but the rooms are cleaned to a verg high standard. They do a wonderful job and really pay attention to details.
Thank you all

It's always a pleasure staying at the Parkgate Hotel.
We only had 1 hiccup and that's Room Service wasn't available on the app Thursday and Saturday night, the app said "location not taking orders at this time". This wasn't the fault of the hotel itself just an IT error.
The rooms are beautiful, clean and comfortable. The staff are simply amazing and always do their best to help you if need be.
We had an upgrade to the Tower Suite on Thursday night which was simply stunning!! We have been working our way around the hotel, in different rooms and suites...the Tower Suite did NOT fail to impress.
We will be back this weekend for our weekly date night.

We loved our stay at The Parkgate. The hotel is well located, comfortable, stylish, breakfast was delicious with lots of local produce, the staff could not be more helpful. Highly recommend!

All fine apart from access and lack of parking. Had to come by car and informed by desk that nearest parking was a ten minute walk away at station. Warned that closer NCP car park not safe and not recommend. Suspect will receive a ticket as inadvertently drove to front door. Council really should help hotel to sort this out.

The hotel and room were incredible! Staff was friendly and accommodating. Only surprise was learning the thermal spa was closed for the week, which I was not aware of when I booked (and was a consideration for booking). Nevertheless, a wonderful experience!

I turned up and there was no room to stay in. I had to go to the indigo across the town centre. I was told I would be contacted to apologise / review. I have still heard nothing. Shocking service!!

Nice hotel in the heart of Cardiff.

Hotel room fine and reception staff gave me slightly earlier check in.
Bar staff and security were absolutely appalling! We had a wedding party with everyone having a booked room for 1, 2 or 3 nights stay. Security told us we were not allowed to use the hotel bar and wanted us to leave, they caused stress and upset to the bride and groom and other members of family. After 1+ hour of being told we had to leave and being spoken to like dirt with no explanation as to why, after speaking to hotel manager we were allowed to stay all the while getting hostile attitude from security at the hotel. Would never stay here again based on this experience.

Walking distance from train station central to everything

Incorrect/incomplete info prior to booking. Poor customer service. Cold food at breakfast both mornings !
Wouldn’t stay there again, there are better choices and at a cheaper price!

To charge guests to use the pool facilities £40 each leaves a sour taste - and the breakfast was patchy

Beautiful property and welcom staff
