Very few staff, who did what they could given the state of the building and the lack of heating. Gluten free options for vegetarian are limited and the food is brought in from a central kitchen. Definitely not on my return list.

The hotel is obviously old and in desperate need for renovation. When I checked into my room it was clean, bed comfortable but the heater had a life of its own. I called reception and a girl came up to the room and managed to get it working. She was lovely and it wasn't a problem which made all the difference. However when I got back to the room the heater had gone off again and I couldn't get it to work again but I was tired so went to bed.

Wont be back again. Disappointing room, which was joined with another, hearing every word of anotger couple. The toilet makes a hrrendous noise each time its flushed aswell as making an awful sound while in the shower and they know this, couldnt care less. Found it to be dated and just really poor.

Its a bit tired in the bathroom and bedroom could do with a refurb

First room didn’t have hot water but we were moved to another room. On the second day the keycard didn’t work so we couldn’t gain access to the room. Reception staff nowhere to be found, had to get bar man to call her. I’ve stayed here multiple times and previous visits have been fine

No-one mentioned that the whole of the front of the hotel was covered in scaffolding that spoilt the view of the Ness and the castle.
We had breakfast one morning. Cold plates and cold Scottish breakfast.

No car park, big problem for my husband age 83 and has walking diffeculities, far too far to walk for him especially carrying our luggage as I’m 80 as well, very poor, couldn’t stay here again

Very nice hotel. Was a bit apprehensive about booking due to other reviews but we found it to be very good. Staff was nice, hotel clean, nothing I would have changed. Glad we stayed.

Stayed before lochness marathon, nice big twin room, they put on breakfast early for the runners. Great location and comfortable beds

No parking. It was just an old building! We wandered and found the lift, but still had stairs to go down before finding our room. The view from our room had a wall. Everything creaked. We heard everyone, walking about! Too expensive. It’s , not for us, again!

The room is old and carpet feels like dusty. Would be better if the furniture is renewed and the lighting is brighter.

Building work/scaffolding

Scaffolding out our window facing river
Elevator, then doors, step down, 6 steps up, double doors … hall to room.
Clawfoot tub w/ shower a bit difficult to use.

Room was comfortable but not aesthetically pleasing. Window in bathroom stuck and as an elderly person was unable to close it. No parking onsite. Was not a very inviting hotel and feel it could fo with some modernization.

On arrival less than helpful staff regarding luggage drop off especially as a member of our party disabled!
En-suites were terrible condition including basin that wouldn’t drain, paintwork very poor
Beds were comfortable, bar staff friendly

Nice location and the hotel was nice.

There were no towels in the room. I specific asked if there was a hair dryer prior to checkin. They said all rooms had one. My room did not. The place was dated and dirty. I picked an item up off the floor and it was covered in hair. Additionally, I chose it for the river view, but it was blocked with scaffolding.

They had some kind of odd shower curtain that was too short

Very dated
Room was very dated and in need of a major refit
Bathroom was very dated and in need of a major refit
Very poor quality duvet

The staff were wonderful so friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. Really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is an old building but comfortable and clean.
4.0 / 5.0
Older property needing some renovation. Fairly clean with pleasant staff and excellent location makes this convenient place to stay and prices not as exorbitant as the other places

Hotel was in a great location. Staff was friendly. Parking was super convenient. However....hotel is a hot mess. Place looks old, worn and dirty. Room smelled stale. Looked unclean. Hair on sheets, dirt on walls, fan was full of dust, half the lights didn't work. While staff was friendly they were not particularly helpful. Since only stayed for one night it was doable. Unfortunately, definitely would not stay there again.

Disappointed! We knew the hotel was an older hotel when we booked however this hotel does need some upgrades and improvements. They are working on the outside of the hotel and maybe some work needs to be done on the inside as well.
The carpet is old and furniture to. The bed is the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept in! We paid extra to have a river view room only to have it spoiled by a scaffolding right outside our window we understand work needs to be done but we should have been notified and not charged the rate we paid. Our room was so cold as we had no heat! I called the front desk only to have someone come to the room and tell us she would tell the manager, well the manager came to the room 2 times and we were told it could be a burnt out fuse and provided us with a heater that didn’t work so good and didn’t heat up the room! The only room that had heat was the bathroom however you can’t sleep in the bathroom! I would have appreciated a follow up from the manager but nothing and no customer service at all! We checked out and they didnt bother to ask how our stay was! We mentioned we had no heat and the response was oh my and would go up to the room to check…oh well to late for that we were leaving!

THE BREAKFAST WAS VERY GOOD WITH GOOD VARIETY OF FOOD OPTIONS. MADE IT CONVENIENT FOR US TO GET TO OUR TOUR QUICKLY...JUST AROUND THE CORNER FROM THE HOTEL. STAFF VERY NICE.

There is no luggage cart. We were traveling with a lot so getting it to/from our room was a lot of work. Also - No car park on the property. We were able to park a short distance away on the street but since it was on a one-way street, getting back to the front door the next morning required some driving around.

Location very good

There was a ton of construction at the building that was not disclosed to us when booking. The room and bathroom was dirty. The shower curtain tore in half. Let them know but they never replaced it in the few days we were there.

No Parking with hotel. Must find a parking lot for overnight parking. That is inconvenient and a little stressful

Ongoing refurb works at front and room (110) was next to alley way with regular noise and activity - bins early in the morning 6am

It's ok, but too expensive for what it offers.

Good experience. A little overpriced but probably due to the high season.
Comfortable stay. No problems at all

I booked the Columba hotel well in advance (Expedia) and paid $240 (including taxes). This hotel is not worth anything close to that. It looks like a cool old hotel from the outside but inside it was dingy and run down.
3.0 / 5.0
Shower curtain ripped almost all the way off. Water went everywhere. Told front office staff after our first day and they did not do anything to correct it. Hair in the shower upon arrival. Place is older but doesn't mean it has to be dirty and it was just not clean.
1.0 / 5.0
The staff seem as if they could not care less. When they finally got us checked in, the room was a disaster. It smelt like mildew and apparent water damage. The bedding didnt appear clean, the AC was broken, windows wouldnt open, the view that we paid $700 for was entirely blocked by scaffolding litered with beer bottles. The ONLY good thing i can say is i turned around immediately and asked for a refund and they obliged us.
We walked literally next door to the Inverness best western. It was $200 less, the roo. Was one of the most amazing I've every stayed in and they treated us like valued guests. The breakfast was to die for, and theres a starbucks on site. Go to the Best Western, you won't regret it.
