2 rooms booked. First room was very small. Poor sealant round the bath, broken hook in bathroom, peeling wallpaper and no modern facilities, ie. USB ports. Second room, black mould all around window.

We booked in to stay while attending an event nearby, and the location was perfect to get to and from it easily. The staff at the hotel were exceptionally attentive and good-humoured, which made us feel really welcomed. It was an easy check-in, helped by the fact that you can do some of it online. The place was a bit of a maze of corridors when you went up to find your room, which took a bit of getting used to when it came to navigating. One area had a rather musty smell in the corridor, but otherwise everything appeared clean. The place does seem to need a little bit of TLC to fix some paint chipping and general aesthetic wear and tear from years of use, but really, most things were inoffensive all being told. Our room was comfortable, spacious and tidy. Like the corridors, a bit worn down, but nothing that can't be quickly fixed up given a moment of consideration. The lighting was rather odd in both the bedroom and bathroom - very dull, particularly with the latter, and could probably use with updating. Onto the positives, the bed for extremely comfortable and we slept really well. The room even had a huge TV as well, which is always a bonus, as we tend to like to put our feet up in the evening. The local area is great for conveniences, with plenty of different shops and restaurants to visit. We ate in the pub below the accommodation, and the food was exceptionally good. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely stay in the White Hart Hotel, the manager that greeted us was lovely, he was very welcoming and gave us all the information we needed and during the night he was very accomodating to us, we didnt get his name but he seemed like the manager and had long-ish hair!

1. Music unnecessarily too laud. I understand it's a pub and some degree of noise is expected, but certainly we could have done with a bit of less dBs.
Since we couldn't sleep we decided to take turn it into an opportunity and headed down for a drink, but it was impossible to keep a conversation. There was no need to put the DJ so laud. A bit lower and you could have still keep the fun while making it easier to those who wanted to sleep (or have a conversation in the pub)
2. The TV was not smart TV. Nowadays I think this is a must for all hotels.
3. The carpet and furniture in general looked quite old
4. No contactless key. Not even magstripe card. Just a real physical key to access the room! Nowadays all hotels (even the cheapest ones) have contactless technology for the room

Unfortunately had a beer delivery right outside our window at 8am. Other than that another pleasant stay at The White Hart

Property tierd rooms need painting. Blood on sheets in one bed. Would not stay again.. Go to the Premier Inn up the road.

On the positive side the bedding, towels etc were decent quality and well laundered. Hotel has a free car park but remember to register your number plate.
Overall it was ok for a one night stay but at some point my room would need a refurbishment. Breakfast was reasonably priced and staff were helpful.

Really was tired and had mould in the bathroom.

The food and staff were excellent. The beds were very comfortable but the rooms themselves need a bit of tlc. Looking very tired especially the windows.
The only other thing was the music. Thursday and Friday night, it wasn't actually music but a thud thud continuously not singing on it at all. Not too loud but noticeable in our room. But Saturday night it was horrendous, it was still thud thud but at least there was some singing on it but it was so loud. Really all you could hear was this thud thud thus beat. Okay it stopped at midnight but then people were outside the hotel until 12.45, talking, laughing and swearing and we were just above them. Music you can get off to sleep with but not this thud thud thus beat.

Marstons need to take a good look at this extremely tired hotel. The paintwork is old and it definitely needs complete redecoration. The reception area was awful. Our room, No. 15. was very small with mould all over the window frames. The bathroom was grotty. The whole room needs gutting. It's agreat shame that a hotel in High Street centre of this town has been totally neglected. We definitely wouldn't eat there as if the food was anything like the reception area, hallways and rooms, that was enough to put anyone off,
One question that I would like an answer is do hotels allocate the worst rooms to people who use their Tesco Clubcard to pay for them.It certainly seemed like it with this hotel from what we could see of other rooms.
WE WILL DEFINITELY NEVER STAY IN THIS OR ANY OTHER MARSTONS HOTEL EVER AGAIN. The next night we stayed in a Travelodge in Ely, which made the White Hart look even worse in comparism to it.

Had a reservation for a king size bed but was given a room tiny room with a small single bed. It was impossible to sleep as there was a continuous loud banging noise from some type of industrial unit outside the room. TV only picked up a couple of channels. Have stayed here before and had good experiences, but this was disappointing as the room was not what I had reserved.

The hotel is clean, the room was basic but a good size with a decent size bathroom, could do with abit of tlc, but the room was very comfortable, there is road noise but to be expected has its on a main Rd in the centre of a lovely town and there is music on at weekend, we was staying three nights ended up staying four, I did think breakfast should be included in the price, The meal we had in the bar was very good. The lady on reception was very pleasant and welcoming, in fact all staff was pleasant,. We had a good time, the races was great, we will come again

Didn’t like the stairs. Does their info say it’s unsuitable for disabled access to the rooms?
Good breakfast. Pleasant & helpful staff. Would recommend & return.

One of the best nights sleep I’ve had In a long time. I did go with 4 outher people and two of them said they were up all night because of noise however I was on the other side of the hotel so heard nothing. Nothing but the upmost respect for the manager who gave us all free breakfast even though only two of us had experienced and issue with people arguing which in fact wasn’t on the hotel premises so he didn’t have to do that very professional and I’m due back up there soon and will be booking again

Location and staff good. Very tired and needs some serious TLC. Room was tatty and a lot of dust on skirting boards and dado rail. Also the carpet could of done with a better vacuum. Bathroom was very dark.Beds and bedding really comfortable.

Long weekend break. Hotel is an old Inn well situated on Newmarket high Street.
Rooms recently refurbished to a good standard and very helpful staff. Part of pub chain and 20% discount on food for guests.
No lift and big flight of stairs to negotiate to access rooms.

The room had wall paper peeling from the wall, a massive spiders web dangling from the ceiling, the bathroom had a hole in the wall, and just generally seemed dirty

Our room was on the 2nd floor told we were last to arrive this was only at 5pm! It was a long walk with a lot of stairs. A man did carry our suitcase up & down in the morning. The room was extremely hot, not air conditioned as quoted on the website. Unable to open the windows as there was a large desk in front of it! There was a strong smell of cigarette smoke coming from other rooms. No non smoking sign in our room 16. Room needs a total update/refurbishment. The furniture didn’t match & was so old fashioned well used! The shower cubicle had mould & was tiny with no soap dish etc. we were pressured three times to pay for dinner within an hour of arrival so decided to eat elsewhere. Also told they didn’t have a member of staff for breakfast as we would be the only one’s eating there. He didn’t want to bring the chef in for 2 people & wanted us to decide on arrival. He was friendly but demanding too!

I was in Newmarket to attend the sales and other business
so a comfortable bed was needed and that is what I had the food at night was good and i enjoyed a very nice stake

Very nicely decorated room & warm.
Staff were helpful and friendly.
There is also a car park attached.
The room was noisy with the sound from the traffic during the night, but this may also have been due a traffic diversion.
We found the price we paid to be very good value.

Requested a doudle bed but that didnt happen. We were above the side entrance and there were people still partying about 4am.

The best thing about this hotel is clearly the staff.
Both the Manager and Duty Manager are having to do so much more than they should as Marstons really need to do more with this "hotel"
The refurb for the pub is brilliant - and clearly where they generate most of the money but the rooms are tired and way below anything else i've stayed at this year ( over 50 stays)
First room was tiny, super hot and noisy due to kitchen fan out put and overlooking an enclosed rooftop heat trap.
Got moved eventually as Steve found a room - but someone else was given a key and was able to open the door at 10 pm !! The bathroom had no main light working and the bath was old so the shower grip had worn away and it was lethal when using shower gel.
I was willing to move hotel if i could not get another room but Hotels.com couldn't help - luckily the hotel staff sorted this.
I don't want to sound like i'm just a moaning traveler - but i've had so much better for so much less with other stay overs and i think this hotel are frankly able to charge whatever they want based on the town - but its way below par
Food was OK - decent service - again the staff are the stars

Very good value, helpful staff and clean room. The food/bar discount is an excellent offer as is the free parking.
