The location was beautiful and so was the barn.
Would definitely go back.
After some issues the first day I was abit disappointed as I booked a disabled barn for us all and unfortunately my father was unable to gain access to the barn or leave the barn without assistance as he is in a motorised wheel chair.
I think for future reference for other guests that the wheelchair accessible sign needs to come off the website. But I found out that all other barns are accessible so I will book again for us as a family as everything else was lovely ..

Lots of space and places to sit and come together as a group in Holm Oak Barn.
There was no bin for recycling, seemed a bit strange for properties on a nature reserve. We kept our recycling separate and took it to Tesco in Bury St Edmunds.

Everything. Second visit and just as good.
4.0
Location, layout, comfy bed
Ants in bathroom, some dirty crockery, no egg cups, coffee provided clearly a mixture of different brands and looked pretty old

So easy to find location and enter property using the instructions. There was a folder with lots of useful information at the house. Loved that it was in a nature reserve. It was quiet and peaceful. The accommodation was beautiful with lots of space and everything you needed.
Kids were disappointed that there were no pool cues in the games room as there was a pool table. However they ended up using the table tennis and had great fun.
4.5
quiet , comfortable well situated
the games room is very small and more child friendly facilities would be helpful such as a designated play area
With two boys accommodation with the larger enclosed garden would be preferable

The location is perfect for walking to West Stow and Lackford Lakes, so if you like wildlife, this is the place to stay. The large windows at the back of the main room look out on open fields and woodland so you can even spot wildlife from the comfort of an armchair.
Being winter and a cold snap, the underfloor heating was so welcome! In fact it was so warm we had to turn the thermostat down to 16º, and off all together in the bedroom.
We appreciated the chocolate hobnobs!
Mobile phone reception is either non existent or patchy - normally that wouldn't have mattered but I had to make some urgent calls due to a family emergency, and having to walk halfway to the Lackford Lakes centre to make calls wasn't fun. Not sure what the hosts can do about that, but it's worth bearing this in mind if staying connected is important to you. Wifi works fine though.
We'd prefer a firmer mattress on the bed but other than that, facilities are comprehensive, just about everything we needed.

Easy access to Lackford Lakes nature reserve. Convenient private parking.
All good.

The three lads who stayed here whilst we were working at Volvo loved the cleanliness/ facilities far better than a prenier inn.

Very peaceful location near to the nature reserve. easy road access into town-Bury St Edmunds-
The accommodation is very nicely finished with good facilities. The 4 poster bed in the master bedroom was a nice touch of luxury.
The shower in the en suite wet room didn’t drain centrally requiring a good mopping after showering.
The stove top took a while to work out. 4 is max heat not 6!! Instructions would be a useful addition to the otherwise comprehensive information folder.

Great location, very comfortable. Really nice place. Very private
Although peaceful location there was quite a bit of noise maybe from a workplace at the back. Sounded like someone chopping wood. Need maybe bath sheets instead of bath towels.
4.0
welcoming and comfortable
having to go through a bedroom to reach the lounge.
had to use the patio door to get out, inconvenient especially of having to negotiate the blind.
the middle bedroom shower head was impossible to get under, positioned too close to the wall
some of us also stayed in Curlew which was dark and uninviting, every day they joined us at Barn Owl.
4.5
Very nice cottage, water very hot, shower very good pressure, beds comfortable, very spacious accommodation, quiet and peaceful location, good car parking. Nice welcome book from hosts.
Some kitchen utensils/baking pans in a bad state and really need replacing. Kitchen lighting not great. Freesat box and DVD were not connected to TV so we had to do that ourselves. Would have been helpful to understand how the heating had been programmed as it was all turned off when we arrived.

Pretty property, great location. Kids loved it

Great facilities, well equipped and superbly located for a peaceful family getaway. In our case, a family wedding. We loved the chic furnishings, a genuine home away from home for us, the lovely garden and patio area and the exposed beams. Ample bathroom facilities in all the units helped us to enjoy our time together, even on the morning that we were getting ready for the wedding. We had a wonderful time as an extended family. It would be so helpful if Booking.com named the units on their booking portal so that we could have worked out the layout of each barn more easily. Could definitely imagine returning in autumn.
Difficult to get a response from the barns before arrival. Lost WiFi for half our stay. Cleaning (floors/cobwebs) could be better, but bathrooms and kitchen we're spotless.

Location was beautiful, great for a retreat
Was meant to be accessible accommodation, but bathroom was not so found this difficult with wheelchair. However, was able to use disabled bathroom in adjacent accommodation on one occasion
Couldn’t sleep due to very warm nights… a fan would have been so welcome!
4.5
the location, plenty of parking, the barns/cottages were spacious, clean well equipped, comfort, space, gardens, wildlife, quiet, within walking distance of a nature reserve

A great, welcoming barn with a perfect layout, warm decor and comfy furniture. The barn was so peaceful and the kitchen was well equipped. Lackford Nature Reserve is only two minutes away. We felt at one with nature and even had a deer walk past the window. Myself and 3 friends had a wonderful time!
We would love to stay again.
Everything was great!
