Loved it. A great place to stay. Original pub atmosphere downstairs, and nature on your doorstep.

The staff were fantastic. Friendly, accommodating, and professional. Nothing too much trouble. Location was great for me, I needed a bit of isolation but with access to facilities, of which there are many. Many eateries in the area too, not to mention the supermarkets and fast food nearby.

I could never remember the access code for the stairs at the back! Not a big deal, just me having a head full of other things. That's my fault! Write it down if you're as daft as me.

Friendship Inn

Nicely equipped rooms, very clean and comfortable in a convenient location for Stocksbridge. We had a superior room and it was very spacious. If we were in the area I'd definitely stay again.

Live music on a Saturday night was loud even up on the furthest away bedroom, not ideal for a 1 year old, mind you the band did sound good!

Me and my partner stayed for one night and definitely will return. Everything from start to finish was brilliant, room and staff was brilliant and locals was welcoming couldn’t fault a thing.

Great find

Spotlessly clean and obviously recently renovated rooms. The bed was very comfy. Ideal location for an event I was attending at the retail park around the corner.

Nice room, staff and location. Bit noisy as live music on the night we were there.

Room was very nice. Very modern and clean. Staff in the pub were friendly. They don’t serve food at the pub but there’s a big shopping centre a few mins walk away that has restaurants, plus a couple of takeaways.

Live music from 9pm til gone 11 which was very noticeable in the room. It was a Saturday. I think they could have warned us when we called to book. Also the big steelworks at the back of the inn seem to work 24/7 so there is a hum from there. At 10pm until noon we were told the door from pub to rooms is locked which means entry to and from the rooms is via a steel staircase of three flights on the outside rear of the building. A bit like a wide fire escape. It was safe and had handrails either side but my dog was scared of the open steps so he had to be coaxed up them. Bear this in mind if you have limited mobility as you will need to exit using these stairs, carrying your luggage in the morning.

Easy instructions to follow given via email. No hassle. Key was ready in a key safe for when we arrived. Room was clean and modern. Bed was comfortable.

Newly refurbed pub, very reasonably priced, parking round the back of the building, friendly helpful staff, the locals had some great stories about the Steel Industry days!

Very relaxing & suitable for my dog..

Room & Bathroom were a decent size & very clean, lots of tea & coffee provided & bed very comfortable

Couldn’t fault it.. Someone kept banging there door when there obviously was no need to, so it set the dogs off but it wasn’t the proprietor fault

Comfortable stay but problems mean we won't be back.

Great room, very clean and comfortable. The bar is full of locals - very friendly.

We were on a 7 week holiday so had lots of luggage. The access via an exterior metal staircase is just ridiculous, not to mention challenging. We knew that there was no food available at the property, but the town's problems with COVID meant that there are no outlets available within easy reach. The WiFi is slow and flaky. The TV kept losing signal and they only way to recover was to turn it off and on at the wall plug.

I stopped on my way to Derwent Edge beautiful countryside close by.

staff very friendly and rooms are modern and clean good if you like live music and karaoke I was on my own but I felt safe also local takeaway food and restaurants within walking distance.

As a female traveller alone I felt welcomed by the staff and the locals. Great value for money and immaculate rooms. Although on a main road there's parking behind the pub. Live music Saturday night. Great example of Yorkshire hospitality. Nice Italian or take puy options

The staff were very friendly and helpful but the wifi issue was not able to be rectified.

There was no provision of breakfast

The access to the rooms out of pub hours was up a fire escape which was a challenge taking the cases down in the morning. No cover and it was raining! There was no wifi ,even though it was advertised as being available. The staff said they needed to get boosters,they need something as it was not possible to get it any type of connection. Which was particularly frustrating as I had a lot of emails to access and address. There was no option of breakfast, and being advertised as a hotel I wrongly or rightly assumed there would be some option for breakfast.

The room was lovely and spacious and very clean

our only criticism is the room was really cold and it was December and we couldn’t get warm! it would be nice if the room was warmed up for you before your stay especially in winter!

Fun in Fox Valley

Hotel had a great band on that night, locals really friendly. The bar staff recommended a local restaurant which was also really good. Rooms were newly completed, very clean and chic. Good choice of biscuits too. Bed and linen vlean and really comfy.
