Combining the best of authentic Hocking Hills charm with modern amenities, this 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom cabin is an ideal launching pad to explore the best of the area while having a relaxing cabin to recharge from life's grind.

Sitting atop Shurtz Hill, guests can enjoy the comforts of home while taking in the gorgeous views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The cabin is one of the best seats for stepping back and truly taking in the beauty of Hocking Hills from up high.
The cabin is equipped with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay and affords both private and communal spaces for your friends/family to recharge, rekindle, and reinvigorate. Shurtz Overlook is the perfect setting for connecting where it counts and disconnecting from what doesn't.
COMFORT: Shurtz Overlook offers three queen size bedrooms, a bunk room, and a futon to comfortably sleep 10 guests. The cabin also has a hot tub, fast/reliable WiFi, wraparound porch, outdoor fire pit, and other comforts.
CONVENIENCE: Located in the heart of the Hocking Hills region. Easy, quick access to Hocking Hills favorites, including Old Man's Cave, Ash Cave, Conkle's Hollow, Cedar Falls, and more! Abundant beauty and hiking to enjoy year round. Also convenient for Hocking Hills activities, such as zip lining, trail riding, rock climbing, and many others!
CLEANLINESS: We employ local professional cleaners who understand that our guests want to immediately settle in and feel confident that the cabin is up to their standards.
We are animal lovers and allow up to 2 dogs at the cabin. Dog(s) need to be over 1 year old, less than 60 lbs, fully house trained, and guests must be willing to adhere to rules around having dogs at the cabin. Dogs are $30/day each plus a refundable damage deposit.
Shurtz Overlook balances the desired seclusion and proximity to the trails, caves, and waterfalls that many guests seek. Guests won't have to see another person during their stay if that's your preference, but can also quickly access the best hikes that Hocking Hills State Park offers:

Very nice cabin! Clean, modern, excellent views and dog friendly! We really enjoyed our time here and loved finding a place that welcomed both us (5 adults) and our dogs (2). The hosts were super communicative and helpful! The place has everything you need. Book it- you won’t regret it!

This beautiful cabin is in a peaceful setting. We had a group of friends together and had an amazing time! The cabin has so many nice features. We loved the sauna, porch, and fun games. It is located near great hiking and a sweet winery. The hosts were so great to work with and very prompt when I reached out to them. Also, our cleaning lady was wonderful. What a fun experience!

We stayed at the cabin as a small group aged 24-76 for our Hocking Hills State Park vacation. Everyone in our group loved the cabin and found it very comfortable. It is a newer cabin with nice furnishings and decor. The outside porch is very welcoming and we really enjoyed nightly soaks in the hot tub. Some of us used the sauna and enjoyed that as well. The fire pit area provides a nice place to enjoy the evening and star gaze. The cabin’s location is very near all the area attractions. It is set back away from the road so you do not have drive by traffic thus allowing a great sense of privacy. It’s very quiet and peaceful. There is a washer/dryer with a few soap packets but bring your own soap if you will have multiple loads to do during your stay. There were plenty of dishes for our group of 5 and all the kitchen appliances worked well for our needs. We had a short power outage during our stay due to weather and the hosts were prompt in communicating and helping us determine the cause and length of the outage. Luckily it was short. Overall we had a lovely time at Shurtz Overlook and I found the cabin comfortable with some nice luxuries (sauna and hot tub). I would definitely consider staying again if visiting the Hocking Hills region.

While the location was wonderful, and the outside views were stunning, I was very disappointed in the cleanliness of the cabin. I know that you allow pets, so I don't expect the cabin to be "fur free", but my tiny dog got under the bed last night and the amount of debris she brought out with her was disturbing. Also my son slept on the couch last night and lost his earbud . When we removed the cushions there again was a lot of debris that had not been cleaned in a while. I started to sweep the floors this morning and it does not look like whoever is cleaning is doing a very good job. My family and I come down to Hocking Hills annually and have stayed at quite a few different cabins. I must tell you that the cleanliness of this cabin is very disappointing for the amount of money I paid. I have photos that I would like to share, but i'm not able to attach them to this submission.

Girls' trip with friends. A few friends wanted to enjoy the outdoors and others wanted to just relax. This house provides the perfect space for both. Any questions we had were quickly answered. The hot tub was a welcomed space after our long hike in Hocking Hills. Thank you so much for opening up your home!

We had a wonderful stay at Shurtz Overlook! The location was perfect - we were near hiking and local attractions, yet remote enough to allow for the true "getaway" we needed. We especially enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit in the evenings! We had a few minor issues, but Dan & Casey were quick to respond, addressing our issue within the hour. The best part about this cabin was that it was dog friendly! Our pups had the best time - thank you for sharing your lovely cabin with our family!

A lot of times when I go to a place a second time it has noticeably gotten worse or not maintained. However this place has been well maintained and the new sauna is great! Used it every morning. It has a nice delay start feature so that it was all pre heated in the morning. Hot tub was clean, clear and well covered. A great place to watch storms coming over the hills

The hosts were extremely communicative and responsive. The property was beautiful and very peaceful. Kitchen was fully stocked and the hot tub and sauna were great touches. We stayed three nights and really enjoyed the charm of the property.

The hosts were very informative even before we got down there! And kept in contact the entire stay! The cabin was very clean and had all amenities we needed! The views were awesome, hot tub was awesome, sauna was awesome! The corn hole and connect four were great to play on the HUGE wrap around porch when it ended up raining for just a little bit! Highly recommend!!

We had 4 boys ages 2-12 and we had an amazing time!!! Casey and Dan were extreme helpful and quick to respond. The house was immaculate and had everything we needed!! The views were breathtaking to say the least. Would ABSOLUTELY recommend!!!

This cabin was amazing! Dan and Casey thought of everything for a great retreat. The cabin was immaculately clean and had everything needed to relax and enjoy! The view was top notch while sitting by the fire, soaking in the hot tub after a day of hiking, or relaxing on the couches in the great room looking out the huge windows. There is no doubt that when we come back to Hocking Hills, this will be our place to stay! Merry Christmas!

Honestly, there was not one thing that I could possibly say that would be negative about our stay. Everything was absolutely perfect. This cabin is really incredible in every way. The view is one of the best in the Hocking Hills region I would imagine. The owners were always prompt with responding with inquiries. Thank you so much we enjoyed ourselves.

My family and I stayed here for 4 days and it was such a wonderful experience. The sunsets were breath taking and the peacefulness of just sitting on the porch and relaxing was very serene. The bonfires were great and the hot tub was relaxing. I would highly recommend this cabin.

Dan and Casey have a hidden gem on Old Schurtz Road! We so enjoyed our stay. The home was beautiful and the views are breathtaking. They have everything we needed to enjoy a weekend away to celebrate all our September birthdays. We will be returning again next year!

The location was gorgeous and the hosts put so much thought into little touches (s’mores kit, solar lights by the fire pit, hot tub towels ready and waiting, etc). Home was beautiful and well appointed and communication with the hosts was easy. I would definitely rent this property again.

This property was so incredible. We had the best time at this cabin. It was so clean, so comfortable, and the owners were so accommodating to our needs. They had everything we needed. The property was gorgeous and so close to Hocking Hills. We had some trouble with the Wi-Fi and they were so quick to help us and send someone out to fix the situation. I would absolutely recommend this property again and hope to stay again in the future.

Hocking Hills is one of our favorite places in Ohio and when our 2 friends from out of state decided to visit, we knew we had to pick a place that would be perfect for our girls getaway. This house is immaculate! The amount of care and thought put into the amenities is obvious. Hands down THE BEST place we've rented in HH. Close to the park, not too far from civilization, but also secluded. We could not see any neighbors (aside from the bunnies that live there) and the views of the sunrise and sunset were absolutely breathtaking. The firepit with the led lights is such a cozy touch. Last but not least - the STARGAZING! No one seems to mention this so this came as a surprise but we did not make our planned visit to the dark park because this house IS a dark park, We sat out in the front yard and stargazed at the Milky Way and all of the stars in awe. We felt so grateful we found Shurtz Overlook and we will definitely be back (and also recommending to anyone we know). Thank you, Casey and Dan, for creating such a magical place and sharing it with the world.

All that stayed with us on vacation agreed the cabin was an excellent experience, far exceeding our expectations from beginning to end. You can tell a lot of thought and design went into making it an enjoyable experience such as onsite firewood, included soap/shampoo, complementary food (smores, cereal, basic cooking supplies, etc.), Keurig coffee maker, and board games. We’ve stayed at several cabins over the past 8 years and by far this was the most accommodating for your furry family member with pet blankets on the furniture, food and water bowls, and hangers for your leash. The quality of the cabin itself was outstanding with everything in a like-new condition, no comments from the kids about spider webs! The hot tub was very relaxing and in perfect working order, with great views while in it! Speaking of views, we have never been to a cabin with this great of views in the area, you can watch the sunset over the hills on the wraparound porch while going to the front porch to watch the sunrise, very peaceful. Most cabin rentals speak of internet service, but this one had enough speeds for streaming services with no complaints from anyone about its performance. Dan and Casey messaged us to make certain everything was to our satisfaction as well. Overall, highly recommend this cabin if you are in the area!

We were looking for something away from all the things and that is certainly what we got. Just a short drive to the hiking trails and stores. What an awesome place to stay when your away from home!

We had a wonderful stay at this property! The cabin was perfect for our family, plenty of room and we loved the outdoor space with the hot tub and firepit. It felt very secluded, yet we were minutes from all of the trails. The owners were great, kept in touch about things and even left us a little smores basket, which was a nice touch! Wonderful cabin for a Hocking Hills getaway!
We had a group of 6 that really enjoyed this spot for a bi-annual girl’s weekend. It was the perfect fit for our group with lots of wonderful amenities. The deck was incredible and we spend 90% of our time out there. The fire pit and hot tub were also great. Everything was just easy and relaxing, just like we wanted.
The cabin is just as pictured and even better in person! 10/10 recommended, thoughtful host that had helpful suggestions on how to easily access everything and very responsive to any questions we had. It was an wonderful weekend!

We loved this cabin. It had everything we needed for our stay. The beds were comfortable. The hot tub and fire ring were nice additions. Location was close to Hocking Hills which was super convenient. My only minor issue would be the bedrooms did not have curtains or blinds. Other than that this place was perfect for our vacation!
