According to the owner, Sykes advised him not to offer compensation based on the points raised below! Important to know!
The bedroom was very small. There was no wardrobe. The bed sheet had muddy dog paw marks on it. The set of drawers had ugly paw scratches across it. One bath towel and hand towel each was expected to last us four nights. The toilet seat was not secure. The hot water bath tap just trickled hot water: making it impossible to enjoy a relaxing bath. There was nowhere to dry towels in the bathroom. The stairs were very steep, winding and difficult to manage without the rails.
The electricity failed in the moment we were about to cook a special birthday dinner, necessitating calls to Sykes and Booking.com instead of the planned celebration.
The lounge carpet was dirty. We couldn’t connect to the internet easily. The storage heater was hot upstairs and freezing downstairs. There was a large puddle next to the fireplace. The windows in the kitchen could not be opened. A kitchen cupboard was vertically crack-damaged. The kitchen bin had dirty drips down it. I have photos of everything.
We know the area very well and, in our youth, had actually stayed in a proximate cottage for holidays annually without any problem so we were really looking forward to this birthday treat. We made the best of a bad deal, but we were very disappointed. The hosts said they were unaware of the issues and thanked us for bringing them to their attention. We are Genius level 3 members, regular users of Booking.com, so we were upset by this experience. We felt that some compensation was due to us, but Booking.com Customer Services informed us that they had received no response from the owners. We were told to post the review: dragging the painful experience out for us.

The location is gorgeous. The house is quirky and just right for two people. Nice and clean. Easy access and parking great.
There was no information about heating and general info to help us settle in. We were cold the first night as storage heaters work overnight for the next day.
Leak behind the fire - perhaps mention in the general info that this can happen. We spent the first part of our arrival cleaning up and trying to contact the agent to let them know. It wasn’t a big deal but would have been helpful to know not to worry about it.

Bluebell cottage is in a great location within walking distance to Stratford-upon-Avon town centre. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need for a pleasant stay. Tea, coffee and milk along with biscuits and a bottle of Prosecco was gratefully provided by the owner. The off road parking is excellent, adjacent to the front of the cottage. We would happily stay here again.
Nothing.

Good location, only short walk into Stratford once we worked it out. Just up the hill to the nearest, very helpful shop and just down the hill to the nearest very welcoming pub. Very well equipped, very clean. Lovely touch to be greeted by a box of chocolates, a bottle of prosecco and a packet of custard creams, plus tea, coffee and hot chocolate. In the bathroom soap, bath bombs and shower gel e.t.c available.
There was a nasty smell from the sink.
