About this house rental
The best happy hour is whatever hour you choose at "Preble Beach." Located on the south shore of Hood Canal about 15 minutes west of Belfair, ten minutes east of Alderbrook Resort & Spa and less than two miles from Twanoh State Park, where you can launch your boat and go for a hike (Discover Pass accessible, park launch fees are $8). Bring your floaties, kayaks and sunscreen, and kick back and enjoy the stunning sunsets.
Preble Beach is a two bedroom, two bathroom open floor plan, waterfront rambler. The utility room has a washer and dryer, games and outdoor towels. Both bedrooms have large closets and dressers. One room has a single queen with an ensuite bath, the second bedroom has two twins. The second bath is large and is accessed via common space. The house sits up on a bulkhead, has a huge deck with unobstructed views, stair access down to the beach (shared with our fabulous neighbors), outdoor shower, swim float and parking for two vehicles. The kitchen has a drip coffee maker, toaster, water kettle and is stocked with pots and pans, plates, cups etc. Large dining table inside well as a breakfast bar with two stools, additional dining area outside on the deck.
The Hood Canal beaches are a mixture of sand, rock, oysters and shells, so appropriate footwear is strongly encouraged - think Aqua Sox, Tevas and Keen water shoes. Guests are welcome to pick oysters and clams if they obtain an appropriate shellfish license. Every now and then warm red tides or algae blooms come through the canal causing a temporary hold on shellfish harvest, please plan accordingly and conform to local laws.
Children - Preble Beach is NOT set up for toddlers. This house can be a huge safety hazard for curious little ones as the deck does NOT have rails or gates preventing your wee wanderers from finding their way down the concrete steps onto the beach/into the water, onto the neighbors property, or onto the busy road. The house is best enjoyed by immobile infants, or confident children who understand boundaries and potential risks. For similar reasons, this is why we do not accept pets at our house. We also do not provide any pack n' plays, cribs, high chairs etc.

This was a wonderful stay on a beautiful beach. Great experience.

Third time staying at this house, and it's as wonderful as it was the first two times. I will probably be back again next year.

Beautiful views. Could use a better cleaning. Comfortable beds. Some road noise. New owners since our last stay.

The wall of windows, viewing the Olympic Range was the big selling point! We watched the tides, the seals, loons and seagulls in the panoramic landscape. The home is clean and the older kitchen is well equipped. We wished for a bit more soft seating, just has one loveseat and two chairs was not enough. More reading light in main room was needed. The washer/dryer was great. A bit of road noise in bedrooms so pack your earplugs.
This home is all about the view and canal!

We love it so much we are coming again in august and September. It is a home away from home. Enjoy every second of mesmerizing sunrises and sunsets. Bring your SUPs and float the waters of Hood.

As always not disappointed. You just can't get any closer to the water and nice little house, private. I could stay forever.

Stayed here over July 4 holiday with my two kids. Simply fantastic! The deck and view are enchanting. Inside was fantastic. About 10 minute drive to Mason Lake where friends were staying. There's a gas station with beer/snacks about 3 minutes away, and a full Safeway about 15-20. It's also a few minutes from Twanoh State Park which has a very easy and very beautiful hike. Owners are communicative and kind!

Great location, close to so many wonderful areas.
The view from the deck was amazing! We saw sea lions, jellyfish, crab, fish, and a variety of birds, including eagles. The sunsets were breathtaking.
The house was comfortable, well stocked, and furnished comfortably. The views from the windows were great. Parking was super easy and made loading and unloading a breeze.
Great place to stay!!!!

Home away from home. This little waterfront shack feels even warmer under new ownership and management. It has everything you need to enjoy every second of it. Dip into the waters of healing Hood right from the deck steps or enjoy the views from inside when it’s cooler outside. Three years, multiple visits with family and friends and hopefully many more to come.

This house is right on the water and has a wonderful view of Hood Canal and the Olympic mountains (on a clear day). It is so relaxing and peaceful. We love watching the weather, the birds, otters, and seals. We love watching the tide go in and out, and playing games as a family.
Twanoh State Park is minutes away, and Hunter Farms is 18 minutes away, where you can get Olympic Mountain ice cream. We drove to the Hama Hama Farm Store to pick up oysters and clams for dinner. So good!
We hope to stay there again in the future.

The house is currently for sale, and I truly hope the new owners continue to rent it out through VRBO, because we want to stay again!

When we arrived we were very excited to spend a few days in this amazing waterfront beach home. It was clean and the fireplace gave the perfect welcome ambiance. The deck was amazing to sit and soak up the fall sunshine. The owners were very prompt in responding and would definitely love to spend another vacation here.

This is our second time staying at this house. The home is exactly as described. Place was immaculate. Owners are great! Best part about this place is the deck and the view. Can’t wait to stay here again.

The property is just as described and we very much enjoyed our stay here. There was a binder with lots of info on the home/area (guides for using the TV, heater, nearby mountain ranges, local restaurants, etc.) and the home was fully stocked with any essentials needed for a comfortable stay away from home. The owners were wonderful to communicate with and quick to answer any questions. Thank you for the wonderful accommodations!

It was a perfect spot for a ladies relaxing weekend away. Clean and everything we needed.
The location is amazing. Nothing like sitting on the deck in the morning with a cup of coffee watching the birds and seals.
Thanks for sharing your oasis with us Gary and Sammie. We hope to come again soon!

Came here to celebrate my spouse's birthday and what a great property. It is clean and well appointed with all the necessities provided (kitchen items, towels, laundry room, wifi + streaming etc.) and wonderful views from the back deck. Terrific getaway. We both enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back.

This is our second time visiting this house, and the experience was just as wonderful as the first time. This is an extremely well-organized house with literally everything one would need for a fun stay. We will probably be back again :)

You cannot be closer to the water without getting your feet wet. We enjoyed watching kayakers, paddleboarders, water skiers and sea lions frolicking in the water. The house is very clean and spacious. The kitchen is very well stocked and you can definitely cook here. Plenty of towels and dishes. As with all of the houses along Hiway 106, you will have some traffic noise.

Property was perfect, everything works. AC was a relief, 98 degrees outside, 74 inside. Deck was awesome too. Owners were so easy to work with.

My friends and I had a lovely stay on the hood canal. It is so easy to sit and enjoy the view and the water from the back deck in the morning with a cup of coffee after a restful night or in the evening with a glass of wine. We took a quick daytrip north to quaint Port Gamble.

This is the second year we have stayed at the property for a week. When we checked in this year it was like coming home. The view of the water and Olympics are breath taking. We missed the sealions/seals this year but we're welcomed by an Otter family....It's like having a summer vacation home without the property taxes. I am sure we will be back next year!!
