Always a pleasre to visit the Crown Spa Hotel. The staff a very friendly and helpful especially the more mature members of staff. Leisure facilities are very good with gym, pool, 2 saunas, a steam room etc.
We didn't eat at the hotel on this occasion but have on previous visits and enjoyed the food.
The only slight problem affecting our comfort was the temperature of the room which was very warm when we arrived but a combination of opening the windows and turning the radiator off worked in the main room. Unfortunately the towel rail in the bathroom would not turn off and it was so warm in there that the water had evaporated from the waste trap of the bath allowing the smell of drains through but this was quickly fixed by running a bath tap to refill the trap and stop the smell.
The bed was very comfortable and the room was spotless.

Ok if you don't mind sitting in a cold reception/ bar area with no ambience at all. We ended up going to the esplanade hotel round the corner to warm up. That was a great hotel. The only thing good about the crown is the spa treatment. Will definitely not be going back to stay. Mentioned all our concerns to the manager at the crown last year. What a waste of time. Don't waste your money.

Wonderful hotel, big room with very big bathroom, big surprise was the tv built into the wall at the end of the bath. Room was really clean and had everything we needed. Had no problem getting extra coffe and milk, just asked at reception and they got me them straight away. Breakfast was lovely with loads of choices. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. This is now our go to hotel whenever we are going to Scarborough to stay.

This hotel was built in 1844 and the spa is on the lowest floor, but it’s comfortable, the pool looks lovely and the jacuzzi is huge. We also liked the steam room, 2 saunas and ice cave with a swirl of cool mist as you walk in. It’s Victorian in feel, lots of tiles but great for what we wanted.
Our double standard room with a sea view was spacious and the view spot on. Staff friendly and efficient.

Very helpful before arrival with some amendments I needed to make, friendly helpful staff throughout our stay. Room was lovely with a perfect seaview. Pool area was clean, nice & relaxing. Breakfast was great. Well located for everything we was doing. Pre booked our parking as it is limited, this saved us messing with parking elsewhere.
Overall really happy & enjoyed our 2 nights stay, would definitely recommend & be back.

We had a one night stay here in an executive sea-view room. Hotel is rather dated, which we knew as we’ve stayed before; however we had a comfortable relaxing stay. The reason for the low rating was for the breakfast. Great choice, but the cooked food was barely warm, very disappointing.

The hotel is somewhat dated. Needs updating in some areas. It would be nice to have feee parking. Nice views if you have a room at the front. There doesn’t seem to be enough staff to cope with visitors given they were the main hotel for the conference I was attending.

Hotel was perfect location. Yes the walks were hilly but managable. Room was clean comfy beds very spacious. Only think is the heat in the room. Fan barly does anything. Overall we had a fantastic 2 night stay. Used the spa facilities.

This 4 start hotel is now on the decline. I am reliably informed it will shortly lose this status.

Having lived in Scarborough for many years and moved away I booked the Crown as it was always seen as the best hotel in Scarborough. The hotel room was very tired a dubious yellow stain behind the toilet and broken fittings and several broken tiles in the bathroom. The breakfast was by far the worst hotel breakfast I have seen. No cups for tea or coffee, when I asked the staff just points to where they should be and walked away. Buffet items looked grim, bacon rashers were swimming in fat, scrambled egg was really watery.
On a positive note, check in staff were good. Such a shame as the hotel has fantastic position on the cliff top. Definitely not worth anywhere near the money they charged.

First time in resort and hotel. Had a standard double room. nice hotel in superb location. Staff at reception courteous and professional. Room ok but dated - door was secure but didnt quite close fully and there was two noisy families on the corridor which affected sleep. there was evidence of a bad repair to the door frame where it looked like it had been forcibly opened . well equipped bathroom with walk in shower although mould over overhead shower. Breakfast was chaotic to say the least! Restaurant ran out of butter packs for toast on the Sunday not well planned. In my opinion not worth the supplement you pay. However there few restaurants locally to have a breakfast without going into central scarborough .
In terms of stature and location it probably deserves its 4* status but in aggregate its a 3 3/5 * at best,
.

We stayed here to see Busted. Whilst the hotel was alright it does need some updating and general maintenance. Receptionist checking us in was lovely and very helpful.
Bar staff very slow.
Room had a lovely view of a wall. Was far too hot, had sand all over the bathroom and cobwebs all over the top of the window. Ideally could be sockets by the bedside table. Big mirror was also in a bad location behind the table and chairs.
The shower whilst lovely isn’t ideal if you don’t want to wash your hair and the shower curtain is annoying and sticks to you.
Realised in the morning that the pillowcase was marked on the bottom side.
We paid for breakfast and whilst it was lovely we waited almost 20 minutes for everything to be made and juice to be refilled not ideal when it’s buffet style. However once arrived food was lovely and hot and did enjoy.
Overall hotel was alright however feel it is not a 4* hotel and not really worth the price we paid.
Sadly we didn’t have enough time to use the spa facilities.
Forgot to mention about the sand to reception as we were late in getting out and then at check out we weren’t asked how our stay was so just didn’t think to do it.
