We were slightly disappointed with the building when we arrived however once we walked through the door we were very pleasantly surprised. The staff were extremely friendly, the decor was beautiful, our room was very spacious. We didn’t want for anything with beautiful shampoo conditioners and body wash. It was very peaceful.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return.
Thank you to all the team for making us feel very welcome

Nice room, very nice & attentive staff. We had a slow shower drain that was reported and fixed right away. Breakfast was best of our trip across Scotland. Only negative was we had trouble with Uber and Bolt pickups. Everyone would pickup at "reception center" which we had trouble locating and made for several bad transit experiences. We finally found the reception center on our last day and it is a bit of a walk from the hotel desk/stairs where you typically exit daily.

Brilliant staff and great hotel. I’ve been returning here for years with my wife for our anniversary only slight hick up is that the breakfast is no longer order at the table and it’s a buffet which is only a small change but that does mean you have a more limited menu. Overall however great hotel and I will return

Dog friendly hotel? £30 charge for the dog package extortionate and dog not allowed in the restaurant. Arrived after a 4 hour journey at around 2.15 to be told our room isn’t ready. I know check in is 3 pm but this isn’t and never will be good enough when you’re paying £170 a night. We went for a coffee in the bar and asked to be informed when our room was ready. Not happening nobody’s going out of there way here. Room lovely and great location albeit in the campus. A real dog friendly restaurant across the road called the Salisbury well worth a visit.

Overall lovely hotel with friendly attentive staff (very rare these days). Room was outrageously hot when I arrived and didn’t manage to cool it down in time for sleeping which was a problem. I also wished food service ran until later - I checked in at 9.20 and it was already finished. Having access to electric car charging a HUGE bonus!

It was my first time to stay with The Scholar, and they did not disappoint. From the receptionist who welcomed me and gave the most complete information you could ever ask for on your stay to the standard of cleanliness and comfort in their rooms, it was very impressive! It would definitely be a top choice if ever I needed to go back to Edinburgh.

From check-in to check out and all in between, my stay at the scholar was just so comfortable. I felt at ease in my room in the lobby in the restaurant. The staff was always courteous and helpful and friendly. Food was very good; coffee was fabulous. I’m really enjoyed the little lounge, as well as the seats outside. I will absolutely return and recommend to others.

Just on the outskirts of busy Edinburgh. There’s a bus right across from the hotel that takes you to the city center. However, it’s also walkable 20-30mins. Nice large room and a comfortable bed. Parking lot is small but we didn’t have an issue. Outstanding breakfast and delicious dinner options. We enjoyed walking around the property, it was nice to sit at the picnic tables and enjoy the scenery. The staff was very accommodating and knowledgeable.

Staff is nice. Easy parking. The room is clean. If the room add more lights will be better.

Friendly staff and twin room was spacious and clean.
Breakfast was decent but a little bigger range of options would be preferred for a 4-star hotel.
Didn’t eat at the restaurant as the menu was too limited. Public transport right outside was a standout feature. The centre of Edinburgh was a short 10-15 min bus ride away. Night buses also service the stop so there was no concern about staying out late. Location was perfect as it’s just far out enough to escape the noise, busyness and expensive cost staying in the city centre, but still well connected by transport. Cost was very reasonable for Edinburgh during Tattoo and Fringe season. Overall, would definitely consider staying again.

The property was well maintained and the staff uniformly helpful and competent. The only problem I had with a longer stay was the food. Breakfast was well run and good. Dinner had a limited menu with not enough fresh food and roughage.

Our stay for three nights at the Scholar was great! The staff was very friendly and did a very good job in making our stay most comfortable. Check-in was quick and the room ready after our an early morning train ride from London. The breakfast was kind of average, but filled our bellies nonetheless. Staff at breakfast and dinner was lovely. The cocktail menu at the bar could use a bit more variety. We'll be sure to visit again if we're coming back to Edinburgh in the future.

My friend and I had a fantastic stay at The Scholar during the Fringe Festival. The room is very clean and well appointed. The breakfast and coffee excellent as well as the dinner and drinks we had after the shows. The staff is friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this B&B.
