Was a decent stay for just a night, right in the mix of things. Not too far from city center.

Great hospitality. The hotel is nothing special, but it is clean and has comfy beds. The breakfast is also solid.

The bathroom lighting was extremely poor and I couldn’t shave and there was no exhaust in the bathroom and the mirrors get so clouded that I couldn’t see my own hand. Water from the faucet in the wash basin was so very weak that it took a long time to brush my teeth or even to wash my face. I complained about it to the front desk staff but was of no use. I stayed there for a whole week and I know now that it was a bad choice I made. This was my 3rd trip to Costa Rica and previous stays were in much smaller hotels but were ten times better in every sense of the word! The daily rates were much higher than comparable accommodations with much better service. Well I learned enough from this experience so that I may not make the same mistake again!

Decent property but old and asking maintenance. Rooms are small and missing basic amenities like a fridge. Only 2 full size hard and one half soft pillow, also bedsheets did not have the freshness feel to it.
Staff was super friendly from the front desk to plumber we had to call for flush not working, they were prompt.

We had a good stay. We came here at the end of our honeymoon before heading back to reality in the US. This is a more basic version of the quality I have come to expect in a Marriott property, but it was a good stay. We paid $20 extra to check in a few hours early, and it was well worth it. Breakfast was decent, scrambled eggs, rice and beans, and a large variety of fresh fruit. I tend to eat a heavier breakfast, so if you're looking for eggs, pancakes/waffles and bacon, you won't find that here.
Our room had a microwave and a very small fridge that looked more like one of those minibar fridges, but it served a purpose. They don't cool very well, but they work. AC worked fine thankfully, because the hallways are VERY warm.
It's located in a fairly quiet area, which was a relief for us, since we came from a hotel in another city that was UNBEARABLY noisy at all hours of the night. It's not super close to anything convenient, so you'll want to Uber or drive your rental car to a nearby grocery store for your needs. They're not too far, just a couple of kilometers away, but not necessarily easy walking distance when you're carrying a bag or two full of groceries.
We booked here partially for the airport shuttle service, but the hours are limited, and it's apparently $20. As of today, 10 May 2024, it was $5.84 USD to take an Uber from this very hotel to the airport, just to point out how ridiculous it is for them to charge so much when Uber is a far more reasonable price.

My recent stay at City Express by Marriott in San Jose, Costa Rica, unfortunately, fell short of expectations. From the moment I arrived, issues arose. The lift was out of order, forcing guests to navigate stairs with luggage. Additionally, the key card provided didn't work initially, causing unnecessary inconvenience.
Further disappointments awaited inside the hotel. The vending machine, a convenient option for a quick snack or drink, was also out of order, limiting options for guests.
To add to the frustration, during checkout, an unexpected extra charge of $20 was levied without prior notice or explanation. This lack of transparency left a sour taste in what was meant to be a pleasant stay.
While the hotel's location and amenities may hold promise, these operational and service shortcomings significantly detracted from the overall experience. Hopefully, these issues can be addressed promptly to ensure a more satisfactory stay for future guests.

I was terrified of someone breaking into my room for reason and couldn’t sleep. I placed all my luggage by the door. In the middle of the night around 1 am someone opens the door suddenly. I called the front desk to report someone breaking in and they say it was the security. Is that even legal? I have never ever heard of a security guard walking into someone’s hotel room while sleeping. I couldn’t sleep rest if evening and my blood pressure was high. I felt very unsafe here
