Stayed here a few times now, and honestly the hotel needs an overhaul now. Roomsxare tired, carpets worn and our ceiling over the shower was stained from a I presume a leak from above.

Hotel was ok, some misleading info on the advert like states parking available yet only limited 2hr parking and then you have to park across town. It also states cooked breakfast available for 8.95, yet to get cooked breakfast you also have to pay a further fee of £4 for a barista style coffee or coffee from a flask with the continental breakfast. Otherwise room was ok but a bit small and overlooked the road making it noisy.

Rather disappointing. The room was up 4 flights of stairs, not an easy ask with a suitcase! We go away a lot and this was the smallest room we've slept in all year. That said, it was very clean and the bathroom looked newly decorated. We found the electrics slightly worrying as the bedside lights flickered constantly, so we turned them off to be on the safe side. Also there's no parking so its a 10 minute walk to the multi storey car park, which cost £13.95 for 24 hours. Breakfast is only included if you book direct with the hotel! Which is bizarre as we wouldn't have booked it at all if it hadn't been on Hotels.com. (Wetherspoons is round the corner and a full English is less than £7) In summary, disappointing, because its not a straightforward experience, which is what you want when you go away.

Location was arguably the hotel’s greatest asset but was merely a highlight in what was otherwise a disappointing couples night away. Staying in the self proclaimed ‘best room in the house’, room 3, first impressions were good. Entering the room, we noticed a constant flickering from one of the wall lights - unavoidable if you wanted darker, more ambient lighting. The rainforest shower head had large buildups of grim and dirt hanging from it. Thankfully, having a bathtub in the room, at least provided an alternative option. We had no towels in the room though - only noticing when needed. This was rectified after a visit to the bar and advising a member of staff. The kettle had considerable limescale in too, so much so it was visible from the outside. *Note* ‘Apparently’ overnight guests are entitled to a 10% discount on food and drink bought from the premises. Even though we did sit down for late night desserts and coffee, this was not offered or suggested by the serving staff member - “are you staying with us this evening?” Would have been a simple pre-bill question. The same staff member did however help us with towels. We found out about the offer later that evening, and highlighted this on check out, the receptionist frankly couldn’t have cared less and insinuated it was our issue and we should have raised it at the time (we didn’t know). Tried to give some feedback, was offered no empathy or apologies for any inconveniences caused. Customer service lacking.
