About this cottage rental
Suitable for families or for two sets of friends or for a romantic getaway, Teach na mBo is in a beautiful part of the Connemara National Park and close to the start of the Connemara Loop. The Wild Atlantic Way runs down our small lane to our local pier half a mile from the cottage, where we have one of the best views out to the Aran Islands and the cliffs of Moher.
Our large, spacious, traditional, 2 bedroom cottage, situated on our small working farm, combines the traditional cosiness of a thick-walled stone cottage with all the requirements of modern home living - including free fast fibre WiFi. PLEASE NOTE THIS PROPERTY IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 5. Perfect for autumn/winter staycation or working from home change of scene.
The main living area is open-plan with wooden floors, beams and a turf-burning stove which gives off the tantalising smell of Connemara. Turf (peat) is provided. Patio doors open out onto the small paved walkway to the house and give views of the shared garden and out towards fields bounded by the traditional stone walls found in this part of Ireland.
The main living space also includes a dining table seating four. Our fully equipped, contemporary kitchen area has granite worktops and the integrated appliances you would expect from a home of this quality, including hob, fan- oven, microwave, and dishwasher. A comfortable sofa, chairs and lovely soft furnishings complete the look. A small flat-screen TV is provided with satellite freeview channels, Irish channels and a dvd/blueray player.
The wooden floor is carried through to Bedroom 1, which has a traditional cast-iron framed, Kingsize bed with hotel quality mattress, topper and all bedding. There are plenty of built-in wardrobes and a hotel-style tiled, large en-suite with bath and large, separate shower.
Bedroom 2 is accessed via a flight of steep stone steps down to a twin room - again with high quality soft furnishings and bedding. This room also has a hotel-style, tiled en-suite shower room.
There is also a US-style laundry cupboard housing a new washing machine and separate condenser dryer.
Outside there is a dedicated parking space and extra parking in the shared farm yard - access to a garden, a small paved area, a BBQ and outside eating space with table and chairs.
We have aimed to provide a home-from-home Staycation and you are welcome to help yourself to anything else you might need from our garage which contains a shared table tennis table. If available you can borrow stuff for the beach - chairs, portable BBQ, fishing nets for rock-pooling - just help yourself.

Very clean and modern. Owner available on premises for questions. Good location.

It was lovely, start to finish. The little house is perfectly appointed — very comfortable, spotlessly clean, and elegantly designed. Highlights include the (unmissable!) walk to the pier and the world’s sweetest dog, who came to the door a few times to ask us to play. The nearby craft center has beautiful work from local artists as well as a really good cafe. We explored Inis Mor and the Burton while we were here. I’d recommend staying here to anyone.

Perfect spot for a quiet getaway. The property was beautifully designed and very well kept. It had great amnesties that allowed us to dine in and enjoy the wood burning stove. A short walk to the beach was also a bonus. We would definitely stay again

Located in the Connemara National Park and within walking distance of the Atlantic coast line, it was a great find. The hosts were very helpful.

My husband and I spent several days in this lovely converted cowshed with our adult daughter in late October. Although our host had to travel to Japan the day of our arrival she had somehow found time to make us a welcoming cake, and left us in the very capable care of Bernie who checked in on us daily to make sure that we had everything we needed. And we did! There was easy driving access to restaurants and the city of Galway, but also lovely walks outside the door. We would highly recommend this beautiful cottage for a short or long-term stay.

We enjoyed the home and the surrounds. Had a lovely walk to the beach one morning and the land surrounding the home is gorgeous. This house was comfortable and clean. It is remote so be prepared to make most of your food. I wish the host was more clear with cleaning expectations so we could have matched those expectations better.

The place was exactly as we expected. The communication with Janet was super easy and agreeable. We loved the cottage and its location, the recommandations for places to visit or to eat/have a drink in the area.

Our stay was everything we could have wanted. We felt immediately at home in the cottage. The location made it easy for us to take day trips to Galway and Kylemore Abbey, but simply driving through the glorious Connemara countryside was the highlight of our days.

We had such a lovely time! It was so nice to be in the country. Just a short walk to the water. The peace and quite was just what we waltzed. But still close enough to see everything we wanted to see. I especially LOVED their dog! Owners were so nice. We truly truly loved our stay!

The house was the best base we could have to explore this beautiful part of Ireland. It is very well and tastefully equipped with everything you could possibly need. An extra plus for the kids was the outside trampolin and most of all the very friendly and playful dog. Thanks a lot to Janet and Michael for the warm welcome and helpful tipps!

Very nice cottage, the owners are very friendly, it's calm and the sea is only a couple of minutes away. The whole region is beautiful. A place where we might come back one day. Thank you Janet and Michael for your help and also the useful information you sent prior arrival.

The cottage was a sanctuary of peace while touring the west of Ireland. Great access to the coast, golf, and local pubs. Still accessible to Galway City for a day trip. Hosts were spectacular! If the weather is fine ask about the bog!

Connemara experience that was perfect! Beautiful lodging, excellent hosts and extensive recommendations for the area. Took Killary fjords boat trip and enjoyed lunch at the Misunderstood Heron. The local tiny thatched pub with its local publican owner was truly a treasure. The local area was especially unique and a wonderful introduction for our Ireland travels. Our highest recommendations!

We had a wonderful time! The renovation of the barn was done beautifully with spacious bedrooms and living space. It was more than enough room and with all the amenities you need for your stay. Janet is a fantastic host; very responsive and welcoming and helpful. She provides extensive info about the barn and the area and things to do-it was a really lovely and enjoyable stay 🙂

The accommodation is an old cow barn that has been converted into living quarters. Wow, they did an amazing job on it. It’s an exceptionally nice place to stay. And it comes equipped with a Border Collie for entertainment.
The kindness and thoughtfulness of the owner is great, too. She had cake ready for us when we arrived.
We highly recommend Teach na mBo for a base to explore Connemara.

This property is very well refurbished to accommodate four people. The kitchen is well stocked with good cooking equipment for those who prefer to eat in. The beds are very comfortable. There are two ensuite bathrooms with showers that work very well. The property is in a great location to explore West and North Connemara. It is also within easy reach of Spiddal,
Barna and Galway City. We were greeted warmly by our host Janet. She gave us good suggestions about local beaches where we could swim during our trip.

We loved it. The location was great for solitude, yet within driving distance to some amazing places. Walking down to the water during sunset was memorable. The house was excellent.

Stunning scenery close by, hire a car and go out and explore.

A really lovely stay in a converted barn/cow shed. Janet and Michael were really helpful when we needed them, and it was a great base for either East to Galway city and beyond or north to the Connemara hills on the Atlantic coast. Super little beach just 20 mins walk down the road too. Would recommend.

Clean, quiet, really nicely kitted out. Trampoline an added bonus! The 20 minute walk down to the beach was lovely but could only persuade the teenagers to do it once!

We had a great visit here. Beautiful location and wonderful home for a small family to share. Loved having the dog around as well. Nice easy drive to Galway and to Cliffs of Moher. Janet responded very quickly to any questions. Thanks for great stay!

Our stay at Teach na mBo
Our first trip to Ireland and this was a great base for exploring Connemara, Galway and the Aran Islands. Janet recommended some walks and trips - in particular walks on Gorumna, Omer Island and a trip over to Inis Oirr, the smallest of the Aran Islands. Do try Kai restaurant in Galway (if you can book) - Janet suggested taking the bus in from Costcutter (great idea) and finally if you drive north to Clifden, the sky road is a must and carry on to Kylemore Abbey and stop for lunch at the Misunderstood Heron overlooking Killary Fjord.

Lovely place with much space and cozy feeling! Very comfortable. It's only a short walk away from the Ocean. By car (35min) places like Galway can be reached. It's close to the ports that bring one to the Arran Islands. We had a lovely stay and discovered Connemara, Galway and the Arran Island (won't tell you which one, though ;))
