Hotel Zed was the best hotel we've ever stayed in. Not only was the room spotless (even the shower curtain which even high-end places miss sometimes), but all the amenities made the stay relaxing and fun! It was perfect because there were so many places to hang out and be so even when we were at the hotel, it was fun. My husband and I loved having coffee downstairs in the sunken lounge areas (hello two fireplaces; we miss you dearly) and I spent plenty of time in the spotless sauna/hot tub area. Did I mention that there were always fresh towels and that area was clean and maintained EVERYTIME I went in there? You can rent bikes and all sorts of beach stuff (surfboards, etc) at the attached building, Swell. From the hotel it is a short bike ride to various beaches and you can bike downtown from the hotel. Oh, and cold, fresh water in the lobby at all hours. Hotel Zed is way beyond a 10.
Nothing.

The concept of this hotel as a 70's throwback was really fun. I liked the funky decor.
The rooms should have microwaves. It was inconvenient to use the one microwave in the hotel lobby to heat up my coffee. We also wanted to reheat pizza in the room. I did purchase a latte one morning from the cafe and was disappointed that they didn't have almond milk. There was soy, oat and coconut. I think that almond milk should be included or at least replace the soy offering. Also it was inconvenient to have to walk outside to the hot tub and sauna. The hotel should provide robes in each room as the weather was chilly. The hot tub/sauna didn't open until 9 am which was late as we would have enjoyed a last soak before checking out later in the morning. Suggest that it open at 7 am. As it's not staffed, what is the reason it opens at 9 am?? It was also inconvenient to retrieve measured ground coffee and sugar from the front desk each time we wanted to make coffee in the room. Just make it available in the room! Same comment about the ice bucket which we had to ask the front desk for and there is only one ice machine in the lobby (where the microwave is). The TV wasn't working very well, reception issue I think and the selection of channels was very limited (ie. only CBC news for Canadian news). For the price point I expected all the essential in-room amenities that other hotels have and guest expect and the decor didn't make up for the lack of them. It just caused frustration. We didn't find any info in the room about how to get ice, more coffee, where the microwave and ice machine were located. We had to ask at the front desk for all of it.

Plenty of offer, hot tub etc and great vibe
Our room smelt a bit like dog, nothing that a squirt of perfume couldnt fix

We loved our stay at the ZED Hotel, and would stay again.
We hit a jackpot and arrived during the Christmas Market Celebrations, followed by a complimentary hot chocolate and a visit from Santa next day. What a joy. Thank you for a complimentary coffee too.
Proximity to the beach was also fantastic.
The sauna was more of a warm room, than anything else. It would be greatly appreciated to have a fully working sauna. We and everyone we chatted with complained that they waited for half an hour, and it only heated up by a couple degrees.

We loved everything, this was our first trip to hotel zed with our kids. We generally come for our anniversary get away and once again we were not disappointed. The kids loved the hot tub and sauna as did we. Games in the sunken living room was a favourite, dancing in the disco room led to many laughs and of course the arcade was a great addition for them. The skylight at night was so beautiful and having two TVs was an added bonus when it was wind down time. Thank you hotel zed for making our trip so memorable for us all. ❤️
The trip wasn't long enough for the kids and they were very sad to leave. (Not the hotel's issue)
The Bathroom was cold, there was no heating in there, we just kept the door propped open and that helped to keep it warm in there.

Loved the secret bookshelf door and the arcade. My girlfriend and I also enjoyed the Barrell Sauna and the massive hot tub after a long day of adventuring. The ground coffee and press was very enjoyably each morning. The staff also added some balloons in our room and a complimentary dessert voucher as it was my girlfriends birthday. That was completely unexpected. Thank you Team Zed.

The location is beautiful, the hotel has amazing character rooms that are unique and great for photos! The room was clean, had a french press, and a very nice cushioned sitting area directly by the window. The staff was super welcoming, and provided a jar of coffee grounds & a jar of cream which was very unique and made the visit feel personal!
The attached restaurant is very pricey. A cheaper option would be nice.

Quirky and fun vibe.
Restaurant was nice
The toilet light strip was so dim that it did not really light the toilet. Lovely to be offered tea or coffee when you check in but the room itself did not have any supplies of this.

I am so impressed with this hotel with how pet friendly they are. This is very important to us when traveling as we have 2 dogs. One being reactive. Staff were friendly.
No A/C in rooms :( restaurant very expensive and not the best menu.

Didn’t like the water closet (toilet). Towels in bathroom were tiny.

Such a unique, positive vibe. Every little detail was fantastic. Even had oat milk for room coffee. We were able to check in early as our room was ready.
I can't fault our visit in any way.

Very cool vibe, friendly staff, free retro videogames in the arcade. Rooms were clean, felt very retro but had all the modern conveniences.
Would have liked hanging out in the lobby but a bit turned off by large dogs sitting on the cushions, another in the water refill station. No offense to dog lovers, but not ideal for pets to be where food/water is consumed or dispensed.
