great hosts, very accommodating and welcoming of me and my rather muddy bicycle. My room was small but very comfortable and well equipped, breakfast was excellent.

A pleasant stay overall...

Easy to find, Good communication from owner. Very comfortable bed, great pillows, not the awful foam ones you get in hotels. Hot powerful shower. Nice towels. Very tasty breakfast. Stayed one night, as were attending a function in a nearby hotel.

Took a while to find a car parking space. Room was very chilly, albeit a very cold night outside, making it more important to have a warm room to arrive to. Radiator was only just warm, could do with a convector heater to take chill off. Bathroom also cold, towel rail took ages to warm & wasn't sufficient. Suggest a large microfiber bathmat, as they dry quickly & would be more comfortable under foot than cold tiles.

Great place to stay in Eastbourne!

loved the stay at this property. it is situated perfectly - very close to the promenade and the beach. there’s parking near the street where the property is but there’s cheap long stay parking about 10 mins walk from the property. the hosts were amazing and very warm and welcoming! we found a few stains on our bedsheets but apart from that it was a lovely experience and we will surely stay here agin.

Sarah and John go the extra mile. The extra touches they add such as homemade biscuits, jam and bread. They are also very friendly. If we are back in Eastbourne we will definitely return. Highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gyves House and John & Sarah were great hosts and very friendly. The property was very central for Eastbourne, the beach and nearby restaurants and bars. We throughly enjoyed our stay and the breakfast was superb, so congratulations to you both for setting us up for the day and our cycle ride back home.

A super stay!

The owners were friendly and welcoming, without being overbearing. Our room was large and beautifully decorated, with an exceptionally comfy bed. The breakfast was delicious, highly recommend the porridge with compote. Loved all the homemade preserves and toast. The location is fantastic, just a few paces to the beach! We had a wonderful time. Thank you so much.

A last-minute booking that was a real revelation. Amazing value.

Friendly welcome. Room was compact, clean and comfy. Breakfast was one of the best I've ever had! Lovely creamy porridge with an exceptional home-made pear/cinnamon concoction for topping, followed by a perfect full English (plenty of other options available). Generous cafetiere of decent coffee, with the offer of more. I'll definitely return.

The downside of having such an amazing breakfast was that I couldn't face the long walk I'd planned! I was just too stuffed. Luckily, there are plenty of less strenuous options in the area.

Excellent service. Very impressed with the breakfast, completely catered to our gluten free and dairy free needs! Nothing was too much trouble. Very friendly owners with a very warm atmosphere. Will happily stay again very soon 😊

Fabulous breakfast; very comfortable stay.

We liked the fact that everywhere was clean and well looked after. But the outstanding feature of our visit was the breakfast. From a very wide range on the menu to the excellent cooking, breakfast was a real treat. Keep up the good work!

For a guest house we felt that it was very good all round. We are unable to think of matters that we didn't like - but if we do think of any we will let you know!

Eastbourne

Superb location for access to the promenade/sea/beach. And for longer scenic walk on the South Downs Way. Very comfy mattress and feather pillows. Very tasty breakfast with fantastic sausage and thick cut bacon.

Not a dislike and won't be relevant to other rooms. The single room was very compact. Everything needed was in there but you need to be very tidy, staying for a short time with very little luggage to make it work for you. I was all of those so it worked fine for me for a night.

We had a very enjoyable 3 night stay, and may well use the Guest House again sometime.

Breakfasts were superb with a great variety and choice of items. Nothing was too much trouble for John and Sarah. John helped by carrying our case upstairs. The mattress on the bed was a little too soft for me, but not for my husband! Covid cleanliness was excellent, with steam cleaning of the room and en suite shower done after each set of guests.

There is plenty of parking in the adjoining streets, but could be difficult at times.

Best place to stay in Eastbourne!

Breakfast was brilliant with lots of options available including vegan. Nothing was too much trouble. Great location. Room was huge. Whole place was lovely and clean. Really recommend staying here. Such a great bed and breakfast and the hosts were fantastic!

Wonderful

I had a wonderful stay. Very close to the beach. Quiet room. Good wifi. Amazing breakfast with homemade bread, butter and jam. Sarah and John are lovely and attentive.
