Gorgeous little place with a lot of history and v well located for Portsmouth sights
Nothing it was lovely

Beautiful historic building. The decor was fabulous and in keeping with its heritage. Loved our stay, adequate breakfast.
We had a room where the shower was a hand held low down device over a bath. Not great when you are older. Maybe I should have checked or conversely maybe they should check with you first before allocating a room.

Quirky, very old building, tastefully decorated. Breakfast was a wide selection of cold cuts, bread, cheese, fruits.
Nothing comes to mind.

Ian was a delightful host, made me and my partner very welcome, gave us loads of history about the Duke of Buckingham and Henry VIII, even held the dagger that was used to assassinate the Duke of Buckingham himself. The room we stayed in was fantastic the chaddington and having the vintage bath in the room was the whole reason I chose that room in the first place, even though it maybe haunted just added to the excitement of all the wonderful history of the place, we stayed in the dukes bed chambers. Ian gave us some wonderful advice about what to visit while we were their, (Mary rose museum) and that did not disappoint what an amazing place and story. The continental breakfast was a great add on to the stay on the morning and was very refined , Ian again was a great host. Tbh I cannot fault this place, I will definitely go back when we go there again. Highly recommended to anyone

A place with character unlike many of the soulless accommodations that the masses frequent.
Owner and staff were very accommodating regarding moving vehicles about to allow parking outside the property and giving a great run down of the history of the building.
Absolutely nothing to dislike.

The history and the sheer magnitude of the premises. It is quaint and you feel like you have somehow been touched by the regal world of days gone by. Ian is great and accommodating. We had a choice of rooms due too a ‘pickle’ event going on. The breakfast was fantastic - lots of choice and very fresh.
toilet seats in room and hall way a little vulnerable- very loose. not a big issue but did make you feel they could break if you sat on them. the party was a little noisy but again only one point lost for the stay as we just loved it.

Nothing at all.

Everything about this wonderfully historic hotel was brilliant - our room and the rest of the building such character that I don't think I've seen anywhere else we've stayed. The staff are lovely and more than happy to help. Highly recommended, we'll be back!

This was an excellent location. It allowed us to walk to the many interesting sites at the Dockyards and in the waterfront area.
our bathroom had a hand held shower, rather than a stand up shower which was a little awkward.

It was a buffet breakfast with a huge range of very fresh food. Excellent location (parking is included on the street)
The hotel is steeped in history which I'm sure the proprietor would share the stories with you if you ask. It is an eclectric mix of decor and furnishings which are fascinating and immaculately clean. The bed was comfy, the room quiet (except the gulls!)
the seagulls!!

The hotel is stunning and full of history. It’s a very small hotel which offers a very personal service and is in a great location for exploring Portsmouth and shopping.
We were a little disappointed they didn’t offer a cooked breakfast at first. As it turned out the continental breakfast with exceptional.
Our room had a beautiful bath but no shower. Next time we book we will make sure we book a room with a shower as that’s what we prefer.

A real gem of a place. Beautiful old building lovingly restored and maintained by a charming and passionate team.
Continental breakfast was superb and amazing quality but the option of a bit of cooked breakfast would be nice.
