The people was clean but could Benefit from a paint job and updating
I would stay again
The worst thing that i was highly Disappointed about was the fish meal priced at £14.95 was like a bit of fish from Iceland for a couple of pound

Location fantastic sea view room
Lift kept breaking down

The man on reception was very professional, helpful & friendly

Location was great and easy parking.
Room was a little run down, needed a good paint and never had any shower gel in dispensers at all, never even got checked or refilled, window was broken and could lock at all.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful, checking in,went smoothly and bar service.the lifts both worked, and the location was perfect, the bed linen was crisply clean.
the room was very outdated, needed to have lots of tlc. the curtains were very faded in places, lots of holes in the linings. the room was very warm, the bath was very small, and exceptionally slippery, dangerous for older people to use, the toilet brush was dirty and the bowl it stands in had old water in it. There was a letter for a previous occupant left in a drawer, and dusty mirrors. Did not eat dinner there, but had breakfast, buffet , poor quality deep fried sausages. only scrambled eggs,no option.
adequate and acceptable.

Location
Tired appearance. Litter between the dining room windows and the iron railings

The view from the room was fantastic 👍🏻
Great location 👍🏻
Good to have the car park as parking can be an issue there 👍🏻
The beds super comfortable 👍🏻
Nice size room 👍🏻
Everything about the breakfast was terrible. Not good quality and not cooked very well. No choice of eggs, only scrambled which I can’t eat. Tinned tomatoes not fresh. Warm milk for cereal, awful.

In need of repair and updating

The superior room was amazing
Breakfast wasn't the best

It is what it is...a slightly tired formerly quite grand hotel now offering excellent value for money. Still got a bar, staff are pleasant, a little upgrade buys you a sea view, breakfast is good so what more do you want? I prefer faded grandeur to the Travelodge any day, this place gets my vote, have stayed before and I'll stay again.

Most things easy access to room with lift ,and spacious alleyways also close to the sea which was a benefit.this was an unplanned stay for me as motorhome was in the garage for repairs but enjoyed the 3 days here
Only had a breakfast once during stay, fruit was ok and cereal, but had a limited choice for a full fry up if you wanted to eat one maybe this was because of winter season?

Car park facility . View to beach

Good value. Someone is trying hard to re vitalise this hotel. Nice to hear the waves crashing from the sea facing room. Good bathtub, but I had to ask for room with a tub. Yup overall a good stay. Checkout could be later maybe?
the bin in the bathroom? Housekeeping management need to take a look at un necessary signage! No more scrambled eggs at brekky? Easy to solve!
3.4
Close to the city centre and they had a back door to go to the car park
The lift was very rocky and old and outdated, which to be honest fitted in with the hotel

The staff were very helpful. The room was spacious, warm and the tv and wifi worked well. The beds were very comfortable and there were more pillows and blankets if we needed them
The shower was good, but the water was barely warm. It did not bother us as we were leaving.
3.4
The location is good.
Staff were friendly on arrival.
Creaking floorboards, rotten windows.
Sad and worn out furniture and beds.
Sticky carpets, tatty room, wobbly old lifts.
Noisy place, banging doors.

The staff were very polite and friendly, the room was clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable and we had a good nites rest
It was perfect

Sea view
The tap had no pressure, dirty carpet and broken walls .. not ideal but ok for a price

For the money it was a great stay. Ben who I believe was head manager was amazing as there was a lot of staff off sick. He literally lived there working for the 3 nights we stayed. My hat off to that guy.
There was nothing I didn't like about our stay.

Many years ago this hotel would have been a real gem to stay at due to its location right across the road from the sea and near to the pier. Sadly it now looks very sad, and in need of a large investment to bring it up to 2023 standards. However, for the money I felt I got value for money as the bed was comfortable, the room was clean and the breakfast was adequate.
Only 1 lift out of the 2 was working and any time i did travel in it (i was on the 4th floor) it felt like it would break down at any minute. I ended up going up and down the stairs, which were very narrow and well used but the carpet was very soiled. Sadly repairs have been done over the years and paint has been painted on paint. The whole hotel looks tired and has no atmosphere or character left. The staff are pleasant and do their best but when I checked out i noticed that the Receptionist did not ask if i had enjoyed my stay (standard check out question), perhaps he just didn't want to hear what he had heard many times before and is out of his control to change. Such a shame to see an iconic building going down hill and i do wonder how they make money.

TV was excellent. Location was good.
Room was acceptable but faded hotel

Breakfast adequate. Very basic. But staff very helpful. DO NOT like milk bottles on tables. How long have they been there.?How many people have used them? Not very efficient Jugs as needed should be provided. And what about fried eggs ? Got tired of scrambled eggs on the third day. Or poached eggs. Even kippers ? Not everyone comes on a coach and on a fixed price. But fruit is nice, but again a bit boring after 3 days. Variety as they say is the spice of life.
see comments above.
WHERE is the information stand. WHERE are the information leaflets about what is going on in Eas tbourne - for instance -
THE TURNER PRIZE at the Towner Gallery. No. info. in the hotel about that or anything else. Not everyone comes on a zimmer frame!

Staff greeting upon arrival was very pleasant and helpful.
The place looked very untidy, dust and cobwebs all over in the room. No effort made apart from the bed being made, towels provided and teas and coffee provided.
3.4
The staff were amazing and hotel is old but has a lot of character. Close to everything.
I think the problem is booking.com sending emails all the time upgrade, book in. This does not happen I upgraded but when I got to hotel they knew nothing about it. So was quite embarrassing at reception and I had upgraded for 24 for all the stay, but got told 24 per night.
I told the reception and showed the email and they honoured it.
