The property is in a great location with plenty of space for everyone to be together or if they want some space to take themselves away. We used the pool every day and made use of the many places to sit and eat around the villa depending on the time of day and weather. Would certainly recommend stopping here.

We absolutely fell in love with this beautiful villa! We were a group of 9 celebrating my 50th birthday and it was perfect.
Very communal whilst having your own space if you needed it. Extremely comfortable beds, bedding, seating and sun loungers.
There are sunny and shady areas throughout the day with lots of seating for everyone.
The beautiful kitchen very well equipped with everything you could need and more.
You can really tell it was architect designed as the flow throughout is so well considered.
The suite bedroom with the private balcony terrace, dressing area and stunning bathroom is next level.
Superb pool and great touch with the kegs of beer.
Jim was always on hand for any local information and let us know of a better walk into town which meant you didn’t need to go on main road. (About a 15 min walk) He genuinely cared that we had a fantastic time.
This is a house that has some great stories to tell I’m sure!
Thank you for making our stay perfect.

We had such a lovely week staying at this huge Villa as a group of 5 adults and 2 children. The pool is gorgeous and is equipped with everything you could want including inflatables, deck chairs and buckets and spades!
There are so many lovely spots to sit around the villa to enjoy breakfast & dinner. It was clean and lots of fresh towels supplied. We will definitely be back!

The Villa was the heart of our stay in beautiful Alvor. From the moment we got there Jim and Nene were so helpful and kind.
The Villa is big and spacious even for the large group we were. The pool is amazing and we had many fabulous days playing and lounging around the pool. It was a great hit with the kids especially the diving board.
Nearly each bedroom has its own bathroom which was great as we could stay longer by the pool and didn’t have to queue to wait to use one.
The master bedroom is quite something. The kids all ask to have their showers there as the bathroom is spectacular.
You really have all you need at the Villa to make your stay special. I would also definitely recommend getting the keg of beer.
As a family we can’t wait to return.

The perfect holiday
We were a family of 10. The house was spacious, everybody had their own little corners to have breakfast or lone time to then meet again on the big terrace table. The rooms all had their own bathrooms. The pool is big and lovely.
There is a restaurant very close by to take away or to eat frango piri-piri and other good food.
It is a lovely place and Jim, the owner, was kind and helpful at all times. Very recommended.

Great holiday
The house was great and even better than shown on the pictures. It was spacious and wel equipt. The big pool and BBQ area where our favorite place. There are also various terraces so you can always enjoy the sun and views. The house is near Alvor centre with supermarkets close by. Jim was a great host. Thanks for a great holiday!

Lovely family villa
Ladeira Da Nora is really spacious, well-equipped, clean and has excellent outdoor facilities (apart from the lack of a decent BBQ). The pool is brilliant and huge, and the grounds are beautiful and large with lots of outdoor entertaining areas. There were 8 adults and a child staying in total and there was loads of room for all of us. And a crazy amount of bathrooms! We found the location peaceful and it has great views, especially of the planes taking off from the aerodrome and of parachutists coming down! As some reviews have mentioned, the manager Jim lives nearby and he and his wife do pop by unannounced quite often – we found this a little disconcerting, so maybe one thing to consider if you like your privacy. There was also a little cat there which we quite enjoyed but seems to live on the property! Overall a lovely relaxing stay in a great spacious villa.

Ideal villa for an extended family holiday
We loved our stay at this property which was perfect for a large extended family. It was spacious and well equipped for 9 of us and 3 small children.
The pool was great, very large, with a diving board and easy steps in the shallow end for small children. It was well equipped with sun loungers and parasols etc and a great barbeque. The table tennis table was well situated used a lot by us.
There are two good shaded outside dining areas, again catering well for large groups.
There are shops nearby in Alvor and convenient bar/restaurant at the end of the driveway. The nearby beach was good, not too busy, and had a couple of restaurants with lovely views.

Beautiful villa, full of character.
We had lovely time in villa Ladeira da Nora . The place is truly unique, original, full of character and very spacious. Even though our group was quite big we never felt like we’re on the top of each other. The pool is fantastic. And a keg of beer is a must. Great holiday!

Idyllic villa
Our group of friends had a lovely week at this beautiful and spacious villa! We hardly left as the pool and cold draught beer were too good to leave for long. It was walkable to Alvor for a nice meal in a restaurant recommended by Jim and not too far to the beach either.

An excellent villa with an wonderful host
We stayed at the villa in July 2019 and had a wonderful experience. Our party contained two families with five members in each, totaling 4 adults and 6 children. The villa is so spacious that we never felt in each others way and everyone had more than enough living space.
There are several areas to eat both inside and out, meaning you can have total privacy when required.
The kitchen is not a modern kitchen in appearance but is very well equipped with two large sinks, two ovens, dishwasher and two large fridges. In addition there is a laundry room for guests to use for any clothes washing they wish with a large drying area outside.
The bedrooms are all a very good size with all apart from two bedrooms on the ground floor having en-suite facilities.
The beds and pillows were very comfortable and no one complained of being unable to sleep. The only criticism of the bedrooms I would say is that there is no air conditioning, however every room has a fan to help keep cool at night. In addition the rooms all have windows that can open and for security wooden shutters that lock from the inside to allow air to ventilate the rooms - something we particularly liked from a practical and security perspective.
The swimming pool and surrounding area is magnificent. The pool is very large with a good sized shallow end and large deep end with diving board for those who want some fun!
Our kids (and the Dads) loved the pool and would spend hours having fun whilst others not wanting a dip could enjoy a good book in one of the many pool loungers.
BBQ area is also very good with a large open garden room next to the BBQ for dining at night.
There are large gardens to explore and a small (5 aside sized) football pitch for those wanting some sport - although we didn't use this much due to the heat and the kids constantly wanting to swim.
The host, Jim, is a true gentleman and always on hand to help with anything you need. He and his wife are extremely friendly and would often pop by with fresh produce from their garden - including melons, tomatoes, peppers etc.
Our families had a wonderful time staying in the villa and would not hesitate to return. Having stayed in many villas over the years, I can easily say this one is now my favorite!
P.S. - do get the beer keg, its definitely worth it!!

Wonderful Villa for a large group
We had a family holiday to celebrate my son's 30th, there was 11 of us staying at the villa and we never felt short of space or lacking in facilities. The house is quirky and beautifully clean. For us, a big plus was the ability to eat together without feeling squashed in.. The large pool was perfect for our group. I would definitely recommend this villa for a larger group.

ideal for hot days for 10 people
The pool is even bigger than the picture suggests. The house has got a lot of terrasses, everybody finds a place with the right amount of sun or solace. Two big refridgerators and two ovens guarantee cool drinks and nice meals. The bar opposite of the object makes delicious fresh fish on a charcoal grill. Beer from the tap at the house was great. The sight over the landscape, the calmness and living outdoors made the stay really relaxing. Due to our age we would have liked toppers for the beds. Jim was helpful and supportive. Two times a week we got our rooms cleaned, clean linnens and towels. The beach is fantastic in Alvor and Monchique a great area for walks. Everybody had an enjoyable holiday.

Fantastic unique villa
This is a very special villa and we loved staying there. We had a two-week stay to attend a nearby family wedding, on the middle Saturday of our stay. The villa was a perfect getaway and base for 11 family members covering 3 generations.
The rooms were all comfortable with great communal areas and plenty of space internally and externally for us all to either dine or socialise together or alternatively escape for a little peace and quiet.
The pool was also fantastic, clean and surprisingly warm
Jim (the owner) met us on arrival and made us feel really welcome - he is a lovely man.
One tip - the Estrella chilled and on draught is a great option and well worth it.
I hope one day, we can return - a truly memorable holiday

Lovely place for a quiet and relaxing week
We (being three families with young children) stayed here for a week in June. The property is incredibly spacious, and proved to be a quiet and relaxed place to stay. Jim (the owner) was very hospitable and was always around in-case we needed anything. The pool was great (if a bit cold in June of course). The property has so many great places to sit, including wonderful views from the rear of the house to the west which is a particularly nice spot to sit in the evening. The property is very well equipped, and very clean. The decor is a bit dated but that didn't bother us at all. The keg of beer comes highly recommended! All in all a lovely place for a quiet and relaxing week.

Stunning, spacious and traditionally-styled villa
My family and I stayed at Ladeira Da Nora for a week in mid-April 2017 and were thoroughly impressed with all aspects of both our booking and stay.
Jamie, who administrated the whole process, was quick to respond to all of my questions. He was extremely helpful with the physical booking process and also provided me with much useful, local information to help plan our trip.
Jim, who manages the property, was there to greet us and continued to be available throughout our stay. Although he was often on the grounds, maintaining the manicured lawns, flowerbeds and orchard, we never found his presence intrusive.
The property is set behind private gates in really impressive grounds and boasts no shortage of stunning views and outside spaces from which to enjoy them.
The villa itself has been extremely well looked after and, while not a modern and high-tech home, offered us the ideal space from which to get away from it all. With a large kitchen, huge living room, well-appointed bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms and toilets - not to mention the huge pool with its own seating and dining area - there was no shortage of space for us all to relax.
Two local restaurants are located within a 2min walk of the front gate (Cafe Daz Maria and A Nora) and both offered great value for money. The harbour town of Alvor is a 20min walk (or 5min drive) up the road which offers a huge range of lovely places to eat. If we had wanted to leave the villa for days out there is plenty to do within a 40min drive of the property including a water park, vineyards and a zoo.
We have stayed in a number of villas over the last few years and Ladeira Da Nora was by far my family's favourite. It's not a question of if we'll go again, but when!

Amazing villa
Stayed here in August 2016 with family, 6 adults and 5 children in total. Spent most of the holiday around the villa as it was so nice. The pool area is exceptional. There are so many outside areas to eat or relax that we didn't get to use them all. Inside, the villa is huge. 11 of us never felt on top of each other. The grounds are lovely too...my daughter enjoyed picking the lemons, figs, pomegranites and almonds which grow in the orchards. Also, enjoyed a game of 5-a-side (although wasn't the best idea in 32° temperatures). Table tennis table got good use too.
There is a lovely no thrills restaurant right at the end of the drive way. Alvor is a 20 minute walk and has lots of nice restaurants to choose from.
Jim (owner) was an interesting man to chat to. He's regularly around the place but keeping a property of the size in good order requires constant upkeep. We never found his presence a nuisance or intrusive.
Couldn't recommend the villa highly enough and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if returning to the area.

Our 2nd stay - just as wonderful as our 1st
Having stayed here on a special holiday last year with our children and their families, everyone was so looking forward to coming back to this wonderful villa and its gorgeous pool. We had the usual warm welcome from the owner Jim and everything was perfect again. Jumping into the pool soon after arrival is a great way to start a holiday. Another welcome addition this year was the option to have a barrel of Estrella on draft with its own chiller unit, which of course we opted to have. It was extremely hot while we were here so having our own pool with its many sunbeds and shaded pool house was brilliant and this is where we spent most of our days. There are several areas around the outside of the villa to sit and dine so you can get sun or shade any time of the day. There is no air-con in the villa but the windows all have louvred shutters and each bedroom has an electric fan so there is plenty of breeze to ensure comfort at night. The rooms are all beautiful and the space and views are amazing. There is an excellent traditional Portuguese restaurant just across the road and the walk into Alvor centre with its many restaurants and bars is not too bad although a car is obviously quicker and there are plenty of places to park for free. A small back gate onto the more pleasant and safer back roads would be the only improvement I could suggest as that would save a long walking detour via a short stretch of busy road. This is such a special place and we hope it is not too long before we can all return to enjoy another wonderful holiday here. Thank you Jim and Jamie.

A beautiful, spacious and very special place
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Ladeira as a special anniversary holiday with our two children, their husband and wife and our grandson. After driving through the gates, up the long private drive past the large orchard, walking via the huge pool past the patio and then into the house itself, there were lots of 'wows' uttered. It is an amazing property with lots of nooks and crannies and so much space throughout.
There were seven of us so we only used three of the bedrooms, each with its own en suite, but there are five double bedrooms and one single so it really does cater comfortably for eleven. The main lounge area and internal dining room (unused) also cater comfortably for large numbers.
But it was the outside areas that we loved so much. There are so many sitting out areas so that you can get sun or shade at any time of the day and eleven sunbeds around the glorious pool where we spent most of our time. We used the BBQ several times to enjoy the privacy and views across the hills. The canopied patio with huge table and lots of chairs was also a favourite.
Ladeira is located just outside Alvor and, although we had hired a 9-seater people carrier, we walked a few times to the bars and restaurants down by the Alvor waterfront. The walk took about 30 minutes along a quite busy road. There is also a restaurant just across the road from the end of the private drive and there is a good supermarket – Pingo Doce – a few minutes drive away.
Ladeira is a private residence that is occasionally rented out, during which time owner Jim moves into another property not too far away. He was extremely helpful on our arrival and departure and we saw him a few times in between as he pottered around the gardens. One review elsewhere complained about his presence being intrusive but we didn't find it so and in fact we all really enjoyed seeing him and having some very interesting chats. He is a lovely man and couldn't have been more friendly or helpful and we respected the fact that this was his home that we had rented for a while.
Dealing with Jim's son Jamie, who managed our booking, was also a very pleasant and problem-free experience and our deposit was refunded in full immediately following our departure.
Ladeira is a very special and beautiful place. We all loved it and were sad to leave but hopefully we will return before too long and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the more traditional and homely side of the Algarve.
