Rented for my family to be together while in area for my son's wedding
Cleanliness 2 star - more like lack thereof;
-grease was dripping off range hood
-softball sized hair ball in main floor bedroom
-refrigerator was not clean at all
-surfaces appeared clean but were sticky
-ceiling fans very dirty
-rugs were not at all fresh
-HEAVY smell of laundry soap on day 1, ventilation
needed
-discarded flip flop and marbles under couch, in so much dirt the marbles would not roll
-many broken solar lights strewn under the deck
-discarded hot tub cover under the deck
-rest of property was clean
Check in 4 star
-property manager was ok
Accuracy of listing 3 star
-says accommodates 20, my group was 16, booking request expired because owner said my group may be too large so she tried to rent me her second property too, she finally accepted then I rec'd a late payment notice???
Communication 3 star
-manager - good
-owner will not answer or acknowledge my messages even though I was asked to reach out to her if issues
Location 5 star
-great setting
What we liked - screened in porch
What we disliked - lake of cleanliness & trails are too bumpy for the rental golf cart which is an under powered rattle trap, had to drive it slow due to the bumps so exhaust fumes were bad for rear seat passengers
It has been more than 4 days since I messaged the owner, more than a day since I sent her a text and neither have been acknowledge or answered, that is worrisome

Our stay at Bruce was amazing. Our hosts Were amazing and quickly getting back to all of our questions and super helpful. The place was just as it was presented the wraparound porch that was screened in was perfect when the day was rainy as you still felt, you were in the Northwoods and outside.

We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the serenity, tranquility, and privacy with the beautiful setting and all the amenities. Thanks.

We had a lovely time with family! Beautiful location. The lake was smaller than expected and lacked any wildlife, like ducks, loons, turtles etc, which seemed odd but we had a lovely time canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding!! The floating dock was a great place to sit and swim from. We didn’t do much trail hiking because the mosquitoes and flies were just too much for us. Just a very bad year and can’t be helped. At the cabin they were fine but the screen porch and lake is where we spent most of our time! The cabin itself is very nice but could use a deep clean. The screen porch furniture cushions are very stained but comfortable. The outdoor lounge chairs are either broken, twisted and unusable or close to it. There is everything you need to cook with spices, oil and such leftover from previous guests. Everything though could use a going through and reorganization. The oven and stove top pilot lights kept going out and we needed to go purchase matches for it and to start the grill. There is a place designated for lighters but none were there. Yes, the upstairs bed is on the floor, no bed frame which seems odd and would seem more upscale with one, but it didn’t bother us. The beds and sheets were clean and comfortable. Again we had a lovely time! The place is nice but with the things I mentioned addressed it could be fantastic and more on par with the price we paid.

It was everything we wanted. Best kitchen ever and we are caterers! Wrap around, screened in porch was a game changer with all the mosquitos. Swimming dock with canoes and kayaks to shuttle everyone back and forth was too much fun. Four families occupied the space and there was plenty of room to be together and out of each other's way.

The building and the property was beautiful Loved all the trails throughout. Very unique log cabin and the porch was very spacious.

We had a wonderful time! Really enjoyed the hiking trails and the golf cart rental was something we used a lot. The bunk house was really nice to have for the kids. The house is a beautiful, log home, it is so private and very relaxing. Perfect to spend time with family. The downside was the mattresses, the master bedroom’s was old and super soft, bedding seemed old, there was no bed frame just box spring & mattress on the floor. The main floor bedroom also had a super soft uncomfortable mattress. Best bed was in the basement bedroom. Because of this we left 1 night early since we weren’t getting good sleep. The house was clean but the 3 season porch very dusty and spiderwebs. I would go back again, if only they got new mattresses.

This is our second time staying here and it did not disappoint. We love having room for the whole family and really enjoy how secluded and private it is. There is so much to do and space for everyone. The screened-in porch is really the highlight of the house and we all spent so much time there. Can't wait to come back!

Our stay was fabulous! We basically LIVED in the screened-in wrap around porch the whole weekend snuggled up to the fire, enjoyed a day on the pontoon and anchored to the floating raft on the lake, relaxed in the hot tub, cooked amazing meals, and really made the most out of everything the retreat property had to offer. Thanks for being so accommodating and we’d love to return!

Our extended family had a great time at this property. The house and lake are very private and the trails are well maintained. The children loved the sandy beach, the paddle boards and the swimming dock! The screened porch is the highlight of the house and is a great place for a large group to gather for dinner. We enjoyed picking wild raspberries and making crepes on the large cooktop!

Very relaxing. Mosquitoes were bad but having the massive screened in porch helped us still enjoy the view. Kids enjoyed playing in the porch. Saw lots of wildlife. Trails are nice but again mosquitoes prevented us from ising them much for walking them. We did tide our bikes on them one day but anytime you stopped you were swatting mosquitoes.

This is the second time we'd taken a trip here and are looking forward to a third. This property is amazing if you're looking for a nice getaway with friends and nature. Cannot recommend it more!

Beautiful property. It rained most of the weekend so we were unable to fully enjoy all the property had to offer, but the inside of the house was cozy and warm as We used the gas fireplace in the wrap around covered porch and the wood fireplace inside.

The house and bunk house worked out great for us.
Love the rap around screened porch!
Rented the golf cart to check out all the trails. It was a hit with the kids.
Enjoyed the canoes and kayaks to get out to the swimming dock.
Everyone had a great time!

Disappointed in the master suite. No bed frame, the box spring and mattress were on the floor. One golf cart and the pontoon which we paid extra for did not work on our arrival. The lodge has some maintenance issues and the lodge needs a through cleaning.. However the caretaker and owner are very receptive to any issue you may have and will response quickly. The lodge had plenty space for our group of eleven. A nice location, with the lake just outside the bottom level. The hot tub appeared to be new and was a hit with our group. Over all experience was good.

This place is great, would definitely come back. We had a group of 11 with kids aged 1-6 and it worked out well. With the extra space in the bunkhouse, there was plenty of room to spread out. The property is wonderful with a nice sandy beach and plenty of kayaks/canoes to get out on the small lake. I would definitely recommend renting the golf cart to go around on the numerous trails on the property. I would definitely recommend this place if you're just looking for a weekend at the cabin.

This house is terrific, with lots of space. The wrap-around porch was our favorite spot! We also used the bunk house, which provided us with lots of extra room. The hot tub is new, and we got lots of use out of it. We also enjoyed the golf carts to explore the trails, and we used the kayaks and canoe daily! If you paddle out a bit, there is nice, clear water for swimming, and there is a swim raft that we used and enjoyed.
This is a nice, private location with plenty to do!!
The property owner’s communication is as good as it gets! We’re so impressed with Linda. We rented a different property from her last year, and she was equally good then! The property managers are also wonderful.
We are booked again for next year!!

Nice property, but need better maintenance.

The place is wonderful but it was very disappointing that both the hot tub and fireplace were not working. If we knew beforehand we probably would have booked elsewhere.

Great place for a quiet getaway! Check in process was a little hairy at first with who we were supposed to communicate with, and coming during a snowstorm was not ideal, but it was figured out shortly and plans were unaffected. We were unsure coming in winter what things we would be able to do, but had plenty! We took many night hikes, relaxed in the hot tub, played games, watched movies, and enjoyed bubble baths and home cooked meals! Perfect getaway for two to get some R & R. Coyotes at night were a little spooky though, woke up to them howling and barking right outside, so I wouldn’t let little dogs out alone at night!

The golf rental and hot tub were a hit with everyone. The lake was smaller than we thought but it suited our needs and the nice beach and shallow area around it was great for the little ones. Some repairs are needed in the house but overall it was a comfortable place for 8 adults and our 7 grandkids all under 6.

Our whole family had a great time. The property is very secluded and quiet. The house suited our needs. The beach was great. The house could use a deep clean, it was pretty dusty/dirty. The water was also a little weedy to swim and made fishing from the dock impossible, but overall we had a good stay.
2.5 / 5.0
The house and bunkhouse were perfect for our four sibling families - seven adults and seven kids. We loved the beach and swimming, jumping off the pier, paddleboarding, the pontoon and golfcart, exploring the trails, and the wonderful screen porch for all kinds of family fun. Only disappointment was no big fish to be caught.
2.5 / 5.0
Property was awesome! Quiet, surrounded by woods and the lake. We liked the trails through the woods and the kids loved the beach at the lake. Close amenities and trails for our UTV were easily accessible. Hot tub was an extra perk!

Our complete family of 19 spent the last week of July at the Bruce Premium Lodge. We enjoyed the beautiful log home, bunk house and most of all the property. Our time was filled with exploring every mile of the groomed trails on golf carts and mountain bikes. We trolled the lake with the pontoon boat seeing wildlife and nature, and kayaked and canoed the back waters. The accommodations were plentiful with numerous choices for sleeping including the wrap around porch. We were short of some supplies and vehicles were lacking in initial supply of gas but Linda was responsive to our initial inquiries and requests. We had a wonderful time and are talking of returning in the future.

Beautiful location and amazing amenities. The screened porch was our favorite feature. The house is dated and the furniture was filthy! The owners seemed nice and helpful answering our questions. The manager was less helpful.

This place was beautiful and Linda/Micaela took very good care of us during our stay. I would highly recommend and will definitely be staying again in the future.

We loved all the great things to do on the property, we also greatly enjoyed the master bedroom, beds, balconies and porches with fireplaces, massage chair and room to spread. We were, however, disappointed in the lack of heat in the hot tub( barely could use it..few minutes at a time), we weren’t aware many of the lights were in a panel, the door knob was broke, grill was not in working order, chain on toilet was broken and we had to put our hand in back of toilet to flush. Overall, the property and home were lovely and we enjoyed our few days

Place was great. Michela (Fellow UMD Bulldog) greeted us and showed us around. It rained both days, but because of the awesome covered deck, we really didnt care. Amenities were great. Hot tub was nice. The the wood fireplace was a nice touch. We had a great time.
0.5 / 5.0
We arrived and were not shown around only let into a dirty cabin, nice place and trails, but was very dusty with crumbs and bugs all over. We didn't get the pontoon I asked about before hand, it was too muddy to have golf carts, which the first two day were not. Plus we didn't get our canoes and kayaks until the last day of a four day stay. The caretaker was rude even though we were being polite, they even showed up early on checkout day and opened the basement door while we were cleaning and packing. She told us to keep the cover on the hot tub at all times even though we just used it. Two maintenence people showed up in the morning without any warning at all and we had two dogs with us; the second maintenence guy showed up when it was just my daughter and I and it was very uncomfortable. We rented this place to create a tradition and nothing we were told was even available, very disappointed and after messaging the owners, there was no reply. We were looking forward for this vacation but it is not what it seems, we will be renting elsewhere next time for cheaper.

Perfect PERFECT spot for three couples to get out of town. We loved the privacy of the cabin and surrounding land. Daily hikes followed by time in the hot tub were a must. We tried to imagine the beauty of this property in the Summer and Fall but decided we will just have to come back. The photos don’t do it justice! Thanks so much for a great stay!

Great secluded and relaxing property, check out directions could be a little more cut and clearly posted but everything else was great, enjoyed the hot tub and fresh snowfall during our stay
2.5 / 5.0
It was a great start at the property at check in was a snap and the owner was very responsive to our inquiries. We were here during the polar vortex so we didn't get out as much as we would like to. Still the hot tub, massage chair, and really spacious kitchen made for a great time. Lots of trails for hiking and skiing and dog walking. Definitely highly recommended.
2.5 / 5.0
This was an exceptional experience that our whole family enjoyed. You can literally cross country ski, snow shoe, and hike the trails on the property if you don't feel like making the short trip to the State Parks nearby. Hot tub and massage chair were nice after exercising outdoors. Definitely, the type of place I would go back to.

Owners are very easy to work with and always helpful with any issues. Property is aging and could use some repairs. We rent in late November, but I’d imaging it’s beautiful year round! Perfect for larger parties.

My girlfriends and I had a girls weekend and we had the best time. The weekend was filled with cooking, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, move watching, and much more. We had a group of 10 and slept comfortably. We cooked big meals and had all of the cooking/baking essentials necessary. The property is secluded with well maintained trails. We plan to return for future girls weekends.
