The perfect place to experience Uros culture with the comfort of a safe and luxurious place
Juan and his family are amazing. The accommodation is fantastic, quite luxurious for the place and beautifully furnished. Very clean, spacious and cozy. The food is excellent and their hospitality is simply outstanding. Juan, Amalia and the children are open to tourists as if they were friends visiting, we felt home but still treated excellently as guests. For us the best part is the experience that they offer in sharing a day of their routine with us, showing us their culture and customs, taking us around to explore the community and learn about their culture and belief system (extremely inspiring by the way!). The whole stay and the tours are excellent but the added value is the family’s kindness and openness. I loved meeting them and learning about their life and culture and I couldn’t recommend more to stay there!
nothing - everything was outstanding

Highlight of my trip - outstanding stay, beautiful property, surroundings & family
I had an outstanding stay with Juan, Amalia and their 3 adorable children. I was greeted by them telling me that they welcomed me into their family as a sister and I honestly felt it. There is no better way to experience the Uros community and enjoy the beauty of Lake Titicaca than to stay in one of the two lodges on Isle Amalia. The facilities are exceptional, including the food, the views are picturesque and peaceful, the sunsets are stunning and the whole experience is truly personal and like nothing else you would experience if you were to do a day trip. To start with I was picked up by Amalia in a motorboat and taken to their island where I was then greeted by Juan who speaks excellent English and built their island and lodges by himself with the help of his father and brother. I was blown away by the finish inside my lodge, it was truly beautiful. The bed is king size and extremely cosy (made even more cosy by the hot water bottles that they slip into the sheets whilst you eat dinner in the evening), there are two comfortable chairs to sit at and enjoy the morning sun, a desk, a day bed and a chaise lounge, then upstairs there is another day bed under a glass roof where you can enjoy looking at the stars in the evening or watching the sun set. The bathroom has a shower with warm water that is heated by the sun, two toilets, one that flushed for number 1’s and a dry toilet for number 2’s but you will not experience any odour, it was perfect. Outside there is another day bed which is ideal for reading a book in the shade and two outdoor chairs so that you can sit back, watch the wildlife and the day go by. It looks exactly as it does in the photos, and I was honestly blown away by the quality. The food was delicious, breakfast was my favourite and truly 5*, at lunch and dinner there was always soup, a delicious main and fruit. I ate so well, and I am vegetarian, but from what I saw of the meat dishes these looked excellent also.
N/A - it was perfect
