The view was incredible and the home included everything we needed to enjoy our one week stay .

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this harbor-view house. Enjoyed relaxing on the front deck in the mornings and evenings. The house was clean and just the right size for us. We were glad to be out of the hustle of Bar Harbor. The Seafood Ketch Restaurant across the way from the house had delicious food and great sunset views. Island Cruises, leaving from Bass Harbor had a nature cruise that we thoroughly enjoyed. And we made several trips to the Bass Harbor lighthouse, right down the street.

My husband & I planned a bucket list trip to Acadia for 2 years. We wanted a picturesque, quiet, place to stay with a water view. We also wanted a place to relax after enjoying all that Acadia has to offer. This cottage met & exceeded our hopes. Well maintained, comfortable, beautiful view of the harbor. Easy check in/check out & responsive property owner.

It is a little out of the way from activities in Bar Harbor/Acadia, but we enjoyed the quiet. It is a nice cottage overlooking Bass Harbor and provided everything we needed for our getaway.

It took a couple of days to get acclimatized to the schedule of the lobster community at Bass Harbor. The beauty of coastal Maine, Acadia National Park, and the Mount Desert Island communities were most enjoyable. And we could walk to the Swans Island ferry. Thank you.

Perfect place in a perfect location! Quiet side to get away from the excitement, but close enough to participate!

Snug house with great view
We found this house to be very comfortable and snug. It was great to have heat and air conditioning available. The view of Bass Harbor is spectacular. There is a fairly busy road in front of the house but the view made up for it.
The bathtub could use an update and in a perfect world the master bedroom would have a king bed.
We really enjoyed our stay and would rate this house above the 2 other houses we’ve stayed in on Mt. Desert Island. It was very welcoming and we will go back.

Harbor View
The house was just perfect with a beautiful view of the Harbor right off the front porch! Many options for dining within 5-15 minutes. The house had everything we would have as if in our own home. We had a wonderful time and would stay here again! Highly recommend staying on the "quiet side".

Our stay in Bass Harbor
The property is perfectly situated across from picturesque Bass Harbor, close to great restaurants, Acadia National Park and convenient to food shopping. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It’s perfect for a couple with or without children. Five stars!

What a great location!
The rental process went very smoothly and the property was better than advertised. The view of Bass Harbor, especially at sunset was terrific. We had people stopping their cars in front of the houses to take harbor pictures. Being on the quiet side of the island is a real plus. Very little traffic and the local restaurants were great. Don’t be afraid to try the road side stands, they provided some of our best meals. Highly recommend Island Cruises for a boat tour; they’re within walking distance.
Can’t wait to go back!

Week in paradise
This small cottage is located across the street from a working harbor, and minutes away from two wonderful seafood restaurants: The Seafood Ketch and, across the harbor in Bernard, Thurston's Lobster Pound. If you enjoy resting and reading while lounging on the deck listening to Herring gulls squabble and watching the occasional Osprey gliding overhead, or exploring a small seaside village without having to endure the hubbub of the usual tourist meccas, then this is the place for you.

Wonderful week
We had a wonderful time at Bass Harbor. The home where we stayed was close to restaurants, ferry and of course, water. We loved watching the tide come in and out. We were glad for option of air conditioning because it was definitely hot and humid the first two days.

Lovely view; peaceful surroundings
We loved the house at Bass Harbor. The home is well-equipped with everything one needs for an enjoyable vacation. Harbor views are lovely and restaurants are within walking distance. Just across the road is access to the water and beautiful sunsets. And, Bar Harbor and Acadia are a short drive. I would definitely stay there again.

Very Cozy and Comfortable
Very nice location with a great view of the harbor. Kitchen was well stocked with supplies and cooking utensils. Great house for bringing the pet, the backyard was perfect for him and we were a short drive to Wonder land and Ship yard trail heads for a quick morning walk. Give Thurston's a try around the bay, kitchen has all you need to cook up your own lobsters too. Bathroom could use updating but was entirely functional and useful. Tons of linens and the house was very clean and well maintained.

A little piece of heaven!
The sunsets were spectacular!!! The house was very clean and comfy. The kitchen was extremely well appointed. The bedrooms were spacious and the picture window in the living room was wonderful for watching the tides and the lobster boats come and go.

Wonderful stay!
We stayed for 8 nights at the house in Bass Harbor and loved it. Everything was clean, and it was the perfect size. It was great to have a kitchen to cook breakfast in, and the deck was lovely with a great view. We visited Bar Harbor a number of times during our stay, but also enjoyed having the house to go back to on the quiet side of the island for an affordable price to relax. Loved being able to bring our little dog too!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
We found the house to be well stocked and very comfortable for 3 adults. The bathroom and flooring could use an update but all in all it was quite nice. We would stay here again.

Our group of three adults was very comfortable in This house.
We found the house to be well stocked with all the basics which was fantastic. It was clean and comfortable. We ended up not bringing our dogs but if we had it would have been perfect especially with the nice kennel in the back yard. The house could use a refresh in flooring and a bathroom update but all in all we were well satisfied.

FABULOUS!!!
After staying many times in the crazy busy Bar Harbor area we decided to stay on the "quiet" side of the island. This house and the location were absolutely the right choice. Easy to find, right on the harbor, the house was immaculate and perfect for two couples. I was afraid it was going to be on the small side but the layout of the house made it perfect. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you would need to cook and eat in. (Even a fully stocked Keurig coffee machine). If cooking in is not your style there are plenty of restaurants in the immediate area. We also REALLY enjoyed exploring Southwest Harbor (ten minutes away). To sum it up when we go back to Mt Desert Island this will be the place we stay!
PS Ken, the owner is amazing to work with!!!

Nice, relaxing place with wonderful views
We recently stayed here during our first trip to Mount Desert Island. There were 4 of us - my husband and I along with our 2 kids. The house was very nice, clean and well-maintained. We had a wonderful view of the sunset. Every afternoon, either after biking or hiking the trails in Acadia, or walking around in Bar Harbor, it was always nice to come back to the house and just lounge around in the living room or sit out on the deck and watch the sun go down. The kitchen is well-equipped and we were able to use the washer and dryer. The owner, Ken, was very good in responding to whatever questions we posed to him. All in all, we had a wonderful time and look forward to coming back.

Relaxing Getaway with Great Views
We had a wonderful stay here. The property is well maintained, has everything needed for a relaxing vacation, and has wonderful sunset views as well. It is far enough away from Bar Harbor and Acadia to provide a quiet, relaxing experience but close enough to get to these places easily when we wanted. The owner was helpful when we had questions prior to our visit. In a word, the place was fantastic! We'd definitely stay there again.

This is as close to paradise as it gets.
We arrived in Bass Harbor to find a small, comfortable and very clean cottage awaiting. Perfect for a couple or small family with not only all necessary appurtenances, but also a lovely view of the harbor. Although the beds were comfortable, we were content to fall asleep in the living room while gazing across the water. Although we've vacationed in Acadia on and off for over thirty years, this is the first time we were so satisfied that we never bothered to venture off the Quiet Side into Bar Harbor. Indeed, we didn't want to leave at all. Two Restaurants, The Seaside Catch and Mainly Delights are only a five minute walk from the cottage, and across the harbor one can almost always find a table at Thurston's. If you're bringing a dog, or as in our case three, the grounds are more than sufficient and there is a grassy dog kennel in the back. We intend to return every year until retirement, at which time we hope to settle in the area.

The best waterfront view on Acadia's "Quiet Side."
We first rented this house several years ago, and were delighted with the wonderful view of Bass Harbor. The house is clean, well maintained, and has all of the amenities, including a good kitchen, to make our stay comfortable and convenient. Every year the owner makes updates and improvements. After a few visits, we stopped looking for any other place to stay. We will go back again, and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone else.

Nowhere Else....
Nowhere else could you find a place to simply be....to relax and enjoy Maine....to watch the harbor change, sometimes from one minute to the next....the fog, the bright sun as the boats pull out, the walk up to the ferry landing, or those sunsets....the ones that countless people pull off the road and take their tripods out to catch just a bit of one to take home with them....walking to dinner, the lighthouse, the amazing accessibility to lakes, Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain,....there is so much...truly a treat....in such a simply comfortable home away from home....a very special place. This was year five for us....we will be back...thank you for the opportunity....

A true haven on The Quiet Side
Having visited Mount Desert Island several times in the past, my husband and I were excited to introduce our 2 young children to the beauties and wonders of Acadia. We really wanted to stay on the quieter side of the island, where we could feel a little more seclusion, and we were looking for a place where the kids would have their own sleeping area and where we could do plenty of cooking. We'd also initially planned to bring our dog. Bass Harbor Haven seemed to meet all of our criteria "on paper"; in person it turned out to be just right. The cottage is nicely situated, with a great view of the water and lobster boats. If you walk around the one side of the inlet when the tide is out, you can get down in the sand to search for shells. The sunset view from the front deck is just amazing- people stopped their cars on the main road to take pictures every evening. Deer wander up to the cottage, which has a nice lawn for pets or for playing tag with the kids. The cottage itself is nicely equipped with enough kitchen utensils to make regular dinners, and we were grateful to be able to do laundry there at the house. Although the house does face a main road, the traffic was not heavy and we felt comfortable letting our 4- and 6-year-olds run around in front of the house. Ken, the owner, was quite responsive when a storm knocked out some of the utilities, and our interactions with him were great overall. The house is as described in the listing; we did not use the televisions, but all other appliances and electronics were in good to great working condition. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will go back.
