Charming old world place. Peaceful, warm old wooden furniture. Nice staff. Great value
Breakfast bland and simple

The staff is very friendly. Quiet atmosphere
There were problems with the wifi during our two stays (two weeks between)

Lovely old-fashioned hotel in downtown Cairo. The room was big, absolutely clean (I had selected one of those with private bathroom and a/c) and featured a balcony. The staff is helpful and kind, especially the lady who has opened this hotel in 1970 and who still works there. The position is perfect, convenient for everything. I will definitely be back!
The hotel might be a bit difficult to find if, like me, you arrive in the middle of the night. Ask for directions before. Rooms are quite noisy as in all the hotels in this area given the traffic in downtown.

This are my favorite kind of hotel, old colonial buildings with a ton of character and a wonderful staff. Romantically shabby but perfect for a home base to adventure, and it has a lift!!!
The breakfast was consistent and filling, bread, cheese, jam, hard boiled egg, tea or coffee. It was nice to start the day with some fuel. The rooms were spacious and clean, the air conditioning was good, be careful to book a c when you pick a room.
The location is wonderful if you want to stay in a non tourist area with all the shopping and food. Prices are amazingly low and there is so much out on the streets. Clothes,, books, art supplies, you name it you can have it. It is right next to the auto parts souk, which leads to some hilarious finds if you are into cars.
The hotel made arrangements for 2 cars for 2 separate half day excursions. If you want to go to Giza or Saqqara without breaking the bank that is the best way to do it. It cost under 50 dollars, we had air conditioning, and the driver just brought us wherever we wanted. Guides can be had anywhere for a small bakshish.....or tip.....be careful and when in doubt ask the driver.
Let's be realistic here, sharing a toilet isn't awesome, and they need to hire a plumber to get everything up and properly running again, there was water on the floor in half of the bathrooms at any given time. Fortunately they are all over the place so if you walk into a disaster there is another toilet down the hall.
The beds are also hit and miss, I was happy with mine, some of my travel mates were not thrilled. Face it, if you aren't exhausted enough to sleep anyplace after a day in Cairo you are definitely doing it wrong!

This was my third stay at Pension Roma. It is an ideal location in town with an incredibly helpful staff who will never try to sell you tours. It is older and a little elegantly broken down, with 1920s charm. I will stay again.

very cheap and modest place in a center area of Cairo city. All the people are so kind and available for any request.
if you don't have many expectations about the place and the room it's the right place. I really suggest it.

Peolple so kind
The beds were not so comfortable

The location and staff are the best! People who work there are wonderful. We got detailed information regarding touring the city and we took the subway to the Old Cairo; rode mini van to the Islamic Cairo. Thanks to the help of the staff. The location of the hotel is very convenient, subway station is about two minutes walk from the hotel. Thank you so much everyone!

Magnificent historic elevator, high ceilings, mood lighting, old world charm - if slightly faded. Good location in Downtown walking distance to The Egyptian Museum and easy for Uber access to many sights.
The shared bathroom wasn’t clean. The beds were hard.

The staff, the hotel, the location were all good. I have stayed at Pension Roma several time in different rooms and is always a pleasure.
The hotel is good and always perfectly maintained but it is the people who work there that make it such a nice experience.
No complaints.

the location in Cairo is great, the hotel staff are very friendly and the vibe of the hotel is amazing. We enjoyed our stay so much that we decided to book for two more nights. Highly recommend this hotel!
the shower was not working well, and the breakfast is not great, quite simple. I would recommend trying one of the many great restaurants in the area for breakfast.

Great place to stay when visiting the pyramids of Cairo. People running the pension were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel seems to come out from another era, with plenty of charme and style. Location is great, right in central Cairo, 15 min walk from the train station and the Egyptian museum, 5 min from the tube station.
Wifi was not working. We booked a room with private bathroom and when we arrived they told us they only had a room with shared bathroom for us - yet they did not reduce the price, claiming it was Booking's fault. Breakfast is minimal (boiled egg, bread, fruit and jam).

Brilliant staff very clean

fantastic location - not far to the metro and in the middle of Downtown with its restaurants and cafes. quirky lift.
undoubtedly has seen better days - a little run down and needing a paint job. breakfasts a little repetitive. bed fairly comfy but bed covers thin.

Charming staff. It’s basic but a haven in a cra cra Cairo

I loved staying in Pension Roma. The location is just perfect. It is a nice area, near metro and public transportation. It is not far from the main sights, and you can easily walk to Egyptian Museum and the Nile. A lot of facilities and good restaurants nearby. The hotel itself is magical. It has a real old charm. The building is old, but the rooms are very clean and comfortable. The staff was always very kind and helpful with my requests. They made me feel at home. Recommended!

The location of the Pension Roma is great, just a few steps a way from shops, restaurants, cafes and bars in downtown. The personal was also very helpful when we wanted to book a tour to see the pyramids. They organized a driver for a whole day for a reasonable price.
The room was unfortunately not clean, clearly the floor and especially the carpets had not been vacuumed in a while and there was hair and stains on the bed linen. The breakfast contained of a bit of dry bread, a package of marmalade, cheese and a cold egg, which all didn’t taste too great either. We were not expecting anything much but this breakfast was quite disappointing.

Nice, cosy atmospheric hotel in the heart of Cairo. Styled in 20th-30th - you really feel like returning back to Umm Kulthum's time and it is nice to feel old Cairo. The place is super clean and really well kept - owners really care about. The staff was nice - all of them! Definitely to recommend! Our room was quiet - we didn't hear the street noise and slept nice
Nothing to mention - we liked everything. Maybe only I would advice a flexible shower in a bathroom 🚿
